“Erika was amazing. We have 2 cats - one with some health issues - and very specific instructions for their food. It was no issue for Erika. She is very detail-oriented. We appreciated the photos and periodic updates during our 5 days from home. Both of our cats warmed up to her quickly. We'll be having Erika sit for us often and highly recommend her to everyone.”

“Thanks again for taking care of our girl Willow! Taylor is the best! We always enjoy our trip knowing our girl is with the best sitter. She always gives us updates and pics!”

“This was my first time having Dawn watch my energetic corgi, Cornbread. Dawn did absolutely amazing with her! Cornbread just loves to play and Dawn gave her plenty of attention while I was away and sent plenty of pictures and videos. She kept me updated each day on Cornbread’s health, that she was fine with eating/staying hydrated, and behaving well. She also brought her dog over so Cornbread would have a friend to play with. Lastly she went above and beyond and left a custom sticker of Cornbread from her visit! Would absolutely love to book again with Dawn!”

“Donald took great care of Beau and Gracie. He followed all of our instructions and made everything really easy on our end. Both pups seemed to be happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we got home. We really appreciated the help and would book with him again.”

“Loren took amazing care of my two cats while I was away. She followed their care instructions thoroughly and she truly allowed me to enjoy my vacation without worrying if the cats were well taken care of. I really appreciated her communication and truly loved all of the picture updates she sent me each day. Loren was overall wonderful and I would 100% request her help in the future.”

“Jylesha is amazing. She is communicative and works with you to make sure your pets are loved and taken care of. Whenever she stays over watching the pets she makes sure to clean up after herself so your pets are happy and the place is clean when you return.”

“Kaelin did a wonderful job taking care of our house and two dogs for six days while we were out of town. She sent pictures daily and seemed to really enjoy her time with the dogs. I recommend her services wholeheartedly!”

About: I’ve worked in a dog daycare/boarding place for a year. I played, fed, bathed, and walked dogs. I worked with all kinds of dogs, big and small. I have a furbaby of my own that I take care of and walk and feed. I have had animals my whole life and haven’t gone even a month without one so I know a thing or two about tiring them out and taking care of them. I take care of my dog everyday and usually have a routine. Walk, feed, rest, play, walk, feed, rest. I usually go by how my dog is feeling and how she wants to go about her day. But I will always go by the clients wishes of what they want me to do for their dog.
“Harmony was an absolute lifesaver! She stepped in at the last minute after our original sitter canceled unexpectedly. From the start, she was sweet, attentive, and communicative. She took wonderful care of both our apartment and our pets, and we came home to happy animals and a spotless space. We did have a small misunderstanding—which was totally my fault 🤦🏽♀️—but Harmony handled it with grace and professionalism. I truly hope she’s open to sitting for us again in the future. Highly recommend her!”

“Courtney was the most thoughtful and thorough caregiver I’ve ever had. She watched over 2 dogs and 2 cats and was communicative about how each one was doing. She even noted that one of the dogs wasn’t feeling well and helped create a plan to make him feel better. This is the most stress free I’ve been when leaving my animals for a long vacation. I could not recommend her more.”

“We have trusted Rachel to watch our pups multiple times and she continues to amaze us. Our puppies always look so comfortable in the pictures she sends us and are always worn out by the time we get home. We just got back from a 4 day trip and never had to worry. She’s the best!!”

“Jalanie was great for my house sitting request. I had a different Rover fall through literally a day before I was suppose to leave and she was able to do a meet and greet and then did a great job doing the house sitting. Will 100% be my first call next time I need a pet sitter.”

“Nicole has watch our senior dogs twice, and I’m looking forward to the next time. She also noticed the heat was stressing out some of my plants and she watered them without me asking. Which was much appreciated!”

Katy took great care of Leo over this past weekend. We had to modify our original request on short notice and Katy was able to accommodate us. We will definitely be using her again in the future if she is available. Thanks again for taking great care of our pup!
Caroline was an absolute sweetheart! She took amazing care of our dogs and our home while we were away. She was very communicative throughout the entire stay, keeping us updated and giving us peace of mind. We came home to happy dogs and a well-cared-for house. We truly appreciated her kindness, reliability, and attention to detail. We would happily book with Caroline again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter!

Dawn was absolutely wonderful. She stayed at my house with my two dogs and cat and took amazing care of them. She sent videos and pictures of each of them throughout the day, was able to give all the medications, and took amazing care of my home. It was great to be able to just relax on my trip and not have to worry about my fur babies and home.

I’m a repeat client for good reason. Mattea is a fantastic dog sitter, and my pup loves her. I get regular updates and photos while I’m traveling. I never have to wonder how things are going and always come home to a tidy home. If I could leave a review with more than 5⭐️, I would!!

Kaycey was able to help out when our regular sitter had to cancel last minute due to an emergency. She was very communicative and punctual. She did an amazing job house sitting and caring for our two golden retrievers. She sent regular updates and communicated frequently. We would absolutely book house sitting with Kaycey again, and have her care for our pups while we are away.

Emily followed all instructions with our pup to our knowledge and kept our house clean! We do have a pet camera in our home that views the kitchen that we let her know about and let her know she could unplug if she was uncomfortable which she did unplug. Overall everything went fine and she set up 2 meet and greets prior to and communicated with us via a picture a day and some updates through out the stay which we appreciated!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Garner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Garner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Garner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
