“Taylor was amazing! I reached out to Taylor last minute for a few nights of house sitting with our zoo. Our dogs all have different personalities but she made sure to cater to them all. I am so glad I found her as she was extremely accommodating and made sure to keep me updated throughout my trip away from home.”

“Lauren was amazing with our Cookie and Pepper. She was very attentive to details and care instructions. Excellent experience with her and definitely would recommend in the future!”

“Donald took great care of Beau and Gracie. He followed all of our instructions and made everything really easy on our end. Both pups seemed to be happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we got home. We really appreciated the help and would book with him again.”

“Kelly did an excellent job taking care of the dogs and my home while we were gone for a week. When we returned home the dogs had fallen in love with her also. I will never worry about leaving town again, she is an awesome sitter!”

“This was my first time having Dawn watch my energetic corgi, Cornbread. Dawn did absolutely amazing with her! Cornbread just loves to play and Dawn gave her plenty of attention while I was away and sent plenty of pictures and videos. She kept me updated each day on Cornbread’s health, that she was fine with eating/staying hydrated, and behaving well. She also brought her dog over so Cornbread would have a friend to play with. Lastly she went above and beyond and left a custom sticker of Cornbread from her visit! Would absolutely love to book again with Dawn!”

“Our dogs seemed to really like Joan. She sent us pictures throughout the weekend and asked questions as needed. We appreciated her attentiveness to our pups. We will be happy to use her again.”

“She’s truly the best! Took the best care of my babies and sent me updates everyday on how they were doing as well as pictures! She’s such an animal lover and caring person all around. I will recommend her to everyone!”

“Tammy is the best, first time using rover, and on short notice, she was incredible with my dog. She sent updates, pictures and videos. Most importantly my pup had a blast with her and being the short notice of my travel, really speaks to how Tammy is able to connect with dogs.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! And will be utilizing her service again !!!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 9. My friends, neighbors, and other family members have entrusted me with their furry friends! I have two dogs of my own. Allie is my sweet 10 year old beagle and Luke is my silly little (but big) 6 year old yellow lab. They have taught me how to have patience with dogs and to know when it’s time to play or nap. I have some level of pet training with having to train my dogs with simple commands from when they were puppies. I have dogs of different sizes that I also taught me how to take care of dogs of all shapes and sizes. I will love and care for your pets as well as attend to the environment around them. I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, and dogs who need a little more attention then others. I am committed to making not only your pet but also you feel comfortable and trusted with me. I am currently a part time employee at American Eagle so I will have plenty of time to play and hang out with your furry friends. I am also a student at UNC which allows me to create a flexible schedule to accommodate all of your pet’s needs. In my own home I care for my pets by playing with them, feeding them on time, taking them on walks after each meal and during the day to help them get exercise. I also care for my pets by being in the same room as them so that they feel loved. In a clients home, I strive to treat each pet as if it was my own, by providing for them the same as I provide for my dogs.
“Charley watched our boys overnight and we couldn’t be happier! Our boys were happy and the house was just as we left it when we got home! Would definitely book her again! Thanks Charley!”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up on a farm caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and many other animals, and I quickly learned that every pet has their own unique personality and needs. These days, I often help watch friends’ dogs when they go out of town, and I love spending time with my family’s dog, Stella. As a pet sitter, I’m dependable, responsible, and genuinely enjoy being around animals. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles (I love the cuddles too!), or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're away. My goal is to treat every pet as if they were part of my own family. As a college student who works part-time, I have a fairly flexible schedule and can often accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits or stays. I understand that pets thrive on consistency, so I make it a priority to follow their routine and provide plenty of lovin' and attention. Whether that means playtime, walks, cuddles, or simply being a companion while they nap! Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has their own unique personality, routine, and favorite way of doing things, and I know how important it is to follow the routine that you, as their owner, have established for them. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home or taking them on walks, I'll send daily photos and updates so you can stay connected while you're away. I'll follow your pet's routine closely and make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and care. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident throughout the entire experience.
About: I’ve worked in a dog daycare/boarding place for a year. I played, fed, bathed, and walked dogs. I worked with all kinds of dogs, big and small. I have a furbaby of my own that I take care of and walk and feed. I have had animals my whole life and haven’t gone even a month without one so I know a thing or two about tiring them out and taking care of them. I take care of my dog everyday and usually have a routine. Walk, feed, rest, play, walk, feed, rest. I usually go by how my dog is feeling and how she wants to go about her day. But I will always go by the clients wishes of what they want me to do for their dog.
“Kaitlyn was wonderful! She sent updates with adorable photos. She was on time and very flexible with our pets needs/behaviors. We will definitely be reaching out to her for services requests again.”

“Ayla went above and beyond!!! She took wonderful care of the dogs and was nonjudgemental about the rottenness of our fur babies. Not only that, but she watered the garden and spotted yellow jacket nests in the yard and sent me pictures so that I could locate them when I got home. I will use her again if I ever need a dog sitter!”

“Our dog had a great time with Ginny!! She was kind, attentive, and always made sure to keep us updated on what was going on with her. She also took great care of our home while she stayed over. It can be stressful leaving a pet and we knew that with Ginny our pup was in good hands.”

About: I’ve helped neighbors with pet sitting and have always loved spending time with animals. I understand how important your pets are, and I’ll give them the same care and attention I’d give my own. I'm a barista at Starbucks and would love to unwind by going on dog walks and pet sitting for neighbors anytime I'm free before or after my working hours! I care for pets in their own home where they feel most comfortable and secure. I follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions you provide. I make sure they get plenty of attention, patience, and affection so they feel safe and relaxed while you’re away. I’m also respectful of your home and keep everything clean and organized during my stay. My goal is to keep your pet happy, stress-free, and well cared for in a familiar environment you can trust.
“Amanda was absolutely amazing! She watched my pack of 4 dogs for a long weekend and was great at sending updates (including videos and pictures). The house was tidy when we came home and she even left US a thank you card for allowing her to watch our pups! So thoughtful and caring. We have had several really bad pet sitting experiences- but Amanda was one of our best! I feel 100% confident in her abilities and you should too!”

Christa was a wonderful sitter during our trip. She came everyday right on time and was very attentive and communicated very well with anything that was going on. I would hire her again for my next trip. She was very kind and understanding about all of the ebbs and flows of this busy household. My 17 year old cat gave her a run for her money but she handled it beautifully.

This was my first time using Rover and I feel so lucky I found a sitter as great as Taylor! She showed up early and took great care of my puppy and house while I was away. You can tell she cares about your pets like they’re her own. She also took some cute photos while I was away. I definitely would love to book with her again in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
