“As always, Mattea took such great care of our pets and home and gave frequent updates/pictures. Having someone so wonderful house sitting takes away the stress of leaving our fur babies at home when we are gone on trips.”

“Beverly was incredible! She showed up promptly and started caring for and playing with our 2 dogs and 3 cats immediately. She sent lots of updates and pictures the entire time and left our home cleaner than she found it! 10/10 recommend.”

“Luke was very good with our two dogs. He sent daily updates and pictures. He stayed over 3 nights and we came home to the house looking like it did when we left. We will use Luke again and highly recommend him for your doggie needs.”

“Kira took amazing care of our 2 dogs :) You could tell they were both very well loved and taken care of while we were gone. She also left our house super tidy. We'd definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great dog sitter! Thanks again Kira for taking care of our pups <3”

“Alex was great! We received tons of pictures and videos of Roxy while we were gone which was comforting as this was our first time using Rover. The house was the same as when we left it when we arrived home. Alex even went above and beyond by washing the sheets and towels she used while she was here before we returned home. There isn’t enough to say about how great this experience was! Thank you Alex! Roxy cannot wait to see you again soon :)”

“If you use Nate understand that your pets may not be as excited that you came home because they have had such a good time with him! Nate is a good communicator. He provides updates but also just special notes about engaging with each pet (we have 3 cats and 1 dog), which is really nice. In addition to treating the pets well, he also did so with our home. Thanks, Nate!”

“Isabelle and Olivia were wonderful. They took great care of our dogs, and our home, exceeding our expectations and fulfilling our hopes for lots of attention and love. We received updates with pictures and video a couple times a day. We couldn’t be more pleased, and have them booked them again 😃.”

“Whitney was an absolutely incredible dog sitter. My two boys just loved her and she followed all the routine routines perfectly. She went above and beyond tidying and cleaning up before she left as well. Would definitely book again.”

“Comfort was a great babysitter. She made sure to always check in when she was taking my dog on walk and how he was doing. Absolutely would book her again to take care of my dog while I’m away!”

“Joan was especially attentive to our dog Ember post-op. Ember required hot and cold compression on her leg which Joan kindly administered for us. Ember also had to wear a cone which she did not like. By her own initiative, Joan slept on the couch so she could keep Ember company since Ember couldn’t navigate the stairs with the cone as she recovered. We would never ask Joan to do that- this is just the level of care and comfort she shows our dogs. We appreciate Joan so much!”
“Kelsey was a great sitter for our little lab piper. Lots of updates throughout the sitting and left our pup nice and tired out. We’d always look for Kelsey if in need again!”

“Tyler was excellent! Sent lots of photos of both dogs. He was super attentive to one of my dog's health needs which was greatly appreciated. Left the house in great condition. I'll definitely be using Tyler again!”

“Noelle has been house sitting with our dog Sam frequently over the past year. She has consistently taken great care of her and left our house in good shape. She provides updates throughout the stay and gives us peace of mind while we are away. I would definitely recommend!”

“We were nervous about leaving our fur babies for the first time, but Nicole made the experience reassuring and positive. Both our cats and dogs were clearly happy and well cared for. It meant so much to come back to a clean home and happy babes! We’ll absolutely keep her in mind for future trips!”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hannah. She stayed at our home and watched our 2 year old rescue, a Japanese Chin/Terrier mix, while we were out of the country for a week.. She was thoughtful with sending updates and pictures, as well as responded to my texts in a timely manner. I am almost certain our Niko got longer, better walks than we give him on the daily. I felt extremely comfortable and at ease knowing Hannah was caring for our boy. Also our home may have even been left cleaner than when we left for our trip. I highly recommend her services!”

“I am happy to recommend Jordan (Hollyanne wasn't part of this event). This was my first time using him and we had a good meet and greet before he stayed here with my pets. He not only let Sally out at noontime, but would visit with her for awhile. He sent photos of Sally laying outside in the yard, so it was obvious that he wasn't just letting her out to pee and right back in. He texted me that he had coaxed my scared cat out from under my bed so it was clear he was very caring to my animals. Additionally, he left my house clean. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I trust him with my fur-babies and him staying at my house.”

“Jalanie was great for my house sitting request. I had a different Rover fall through literally a day before I was suppose to leave and she was able to do a meet and greet and then did a great job doing the house sitting. Will 100% be my first call next time I need a pet sitter.”

Sophina did an amazing job taking care of our dogs and cats while also house sitting for us. She was incredibly flexible, communicative, and always willing to send photos and updates whenever we asked. We allowed her to have guests, and she was very respectful about keeping us informed and making sure we were comfortable with everything. She kept our home clean and left everything exactly how we had left it, which we really appreciated. She also went above and beyond when it came to caring for our pets. Our dog has a habit of getting into the litter box, and even though cleaning up after situations like that was definitely beyond what we expected from her, she was always willing to help wherever needed and made sure everything stayed clean. Sophina is someone we trust, and we would absolutely have her house sit and care for our pets again, especially for longer vacations. She is reliable, respectful, and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pets and their home.

Autumn was a wonderful sitter for our two dogs. She worked wonders keeping both of them happy and well cared for, which is no small feat since one is spunky (likes long walks and playtime) and the other is older (needs very frequent outings, but no long walks). She was great at sending us regular updates and adorable pictures of both girls, she kept the house clean and she even went above and beyond by offering nail trims for both. We would definitely ask Autumn to dog sit again if we need help!

Anna goes far above expectation in her senior dog care giving. My 14 year old was suffering extra anxiety and wouldn’t go upstairs to her regular bed. Anna arranged to sleep near my dog by sleeping right next to her and calming her until she fell asleep. She walked, petted and fed according to special instructions. Anna also keeps the home in extra good order and stays in touch with reports. Anna is an exceptional dog care giver for overnights and I look forward to hiring her again soon.

Yanke was so great with my pup cooper! So glad I found her. She is definitely someone you can trust for house sitting. We were traveling internationally for a week and Yanke kept us updated throughout the whole trip with pictures so that I could keep my mind at ease and enjoy my vacay! I’ll definitely be using Yanke again for house sitting and highly reccomend to anyone :) thanks for all you do!

Kristena was excellent! We left her with 2 cats, an older dog and a puppy. She sent us detailed updates every day with pictures and even did some training with our puppy while we were away. She also took great care of our home and left it in spotless condition, cleaning up after herself and the animals. We would love to have her back any time!

Summer was fantastic. I was so comfortable leaving both my young, energetic dog and my senior dog with health issues with them. I got regular updates and pictures. Summer left the house in great condition, even tending to my orchids in a way I never could! I would 100% recommend Summer for your pet sitting needs. Summer would be my first choice for a dog & house sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Raleigh walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Raleigh maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Raleigh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
