“Leslie was absolutely wonderful while house sitting for my dogs, Roo and Ringo. From the moment we connected, she was kind, personable, and easy to communicate with, which gave me a lot of confidence while I was away. She took excellent care of both dogs, followed all of my instructions carefully, and made sure their routines stayed consistent. One thing I especially appreciated was how proactive she was with updates. She regularly sent messages and photos, which gave me peace of mind and let me see that Roo and Ringo were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I would not hesitate to book Leslie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy sitter. Roo and Ringo were in great hands!”

“Courtney provided dog sitting and housesitting services for me. She was great with my Sheppard!! She also kept the house in neat order and provided plenty of love to my dog. I will definitely use her again!!”

“Natallia was great with Duck! She was very communicative and made sure both Duck and I were comfortable when I had to leave! I will definitely work with Natallia in the future and highly recommend her!”

About: I love animals and have taken care of pets since I was a kid. I recently brought two puppies to the US from Puerto Rico to be adopted (the program is called “Flight Angels”) though I definitely thought of taking them home myself! I often care for my dad’s dog, who is diabetic and on the older side, so I am no stranger to getting up at the crack of dawn to give your pup medication and frequent walks. I have also cat-sit for years, and recently gotten my own mischievous kitty. I work from home which gives me the availability to be there for your pet. Whether it’s a midday check in to keep your cat company, lunch dates with your puppy, or week long housesitting, I am happy to be there for you and your furry friend. Don’t be hesitant to reach out, I would love to get to know you and your pet! I work remotely with an hour lunch, and I am happy to visit your pet during the hours that fit your needs. Depending on the distance I can also stop by throughout the workday. A typical day would include two to three long walks around your neighborhood, enrichment time playing a few games, and of course feeding time as often as needed for your pet.
“Jessica was excellent! She communicated promptly, sending photos and updates of Birdie and Bogey while we were away for the weekend. Jessica took great care of our home as well!”

“As soon as I met Loren I felt completely comfortable leaving our 15 month old pampered Coton de Tulear with her. She sent me great pictures that showed Moppie was relaxed and happy. I would not hesitate to get her to dog sit again!”

“Isabelle and Olivia were wonderful. They took great care of our dogs, and our home, exceeding our expectations and fulfilling our hopes for lots of attention and love. We received updates with pictures and video a couple times a day. We couldn’t be more pleased, and have them booked them again 😃.”

“Britney was outstanding!! She was extremely communicative sent tons of pictures to us every day. Our cat usually takes a while to warm up to new people, but he felt comfortable with her right away. She also left our home very clean which was extremely appreciated too. Our home and furr babies were clearly well taken care of!”

“Outstanding sitter who saved us after a last minute cancellation from our other sitter. She was thorough, thoughtful, caring, communicative, and left the place super tidy. We can’t recommend highly enough.”

“Zainab was great with communicating and professional during our meet and greet. Seeing that she had multiple repeat clients was encouraging, and I would definitely reach out to Zainab again myself to watch our cats. She stayed with our cats for several hours a to day for a week. She sent pictures and gave brief summaries of how they were doing”

“I cannot say enough great things about Jessica. Excellent and frequent communication along with pictures of our pet. We will definitely be using Rover and Jessica again in the future. Highly recommend.”

“Hallie did a wonderful job. She kept me updated with frequent pics and left my home in great condition. I will definitely hope to call on her again to care for my very rambunctious dog.”

“Alexandra was great! She was extremely responsive, sent pictures and updates. I felt at ease going out of town knowing she was there! Best quality care for my pups.”

“Cass housesat for my two kitties and was great! I got lots of updates and photos and both kitties seemed more relaxed when I returned than they usually are when I'm away. I definitely recommend Cass and would book again.”

About: I've grown up around dogs and cats of various sizes and breeds. I’ve been caring for the pets of friends and family members as long as I can remember, as well as my own. I work from home and my hours are flexible so I can be with the animals as much as needed as well as adapt to their needs as they pop-up. I keep a watchful eye and ear for anything needs that arise that your pet may need. I make sure that anything that could be risky to a pet is put away or secured out of reach.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cary
Aqsa was incredible! She took better care of our dog and four cats than we could have ever hoped for. We received proactive communications and incredible photos from Aqsa during our week-long vacation, and she did an excellent job taking care of our home while we were gone. When one of our cats got sick she offered to drive her to an emergency vet right away. She then did an amazing job taking care of our sick kitty by providing extra TLC and antibiotics until we returned. Her love of animals is evident, and we are excited to rebook Aqsa again soon!

This was our first time using Rover for boarding and having someone come to our house to stay with our puppy Zoey! Jess was amazing and we cannot thank her enough for taking such good care of Zoey while we were gone. She was so loving to our precious girl, sent us pictures each morning and night and gave us updates on how things were going! We absolutely recommend Jess and plan to reach out to her again when we are going out of town! ❤️❤️

Maya did a wonderful job taking care of Dunkin while we were away for the day. She was reliable, arrived on time, followed all of our instructions, and made us feel confident that Dunkin was in good hands. We would absolutely hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter

Camille was a wonderful sitter for our pups. She was punctual, polite and so caring. She was flexible with her schedule which helped us out big time when our flights were delayed. We loved all of the updates and pictures throughout our trip. We will definitely book with her again.

We love Sherri! She's great with Bitzy and Jarvy, and stands out in two different ways: She observes their behavior and if something catches her attention, she'll text and ask whether the behavior is usual. Also, she always does a little bit extra that we didn't ask her to do, like emptying the dishwasher or taking the trash can to the curb. We couldn't ask for better care!

You will not find a more loving person to watch your pets than Leslie. We received daily photos / videos and updates with any concerns. Leslie stayed in our home and when we returned it was so tidy, there was not even any dog hair on the floor! I appreciate how caring Leslie was for our dog and how considerate of a house sitter she was. We hope Leslie will sit for us again in the future! 🙂

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cary walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cary maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cary choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
