“Diego took great care of our pup. When our flight was delayed, they were flexibile enough to accommodate us with an additional visit. We really appreciate their work and we'd happily book them again.”

“I was a little skeptical as this was y first time using Rover however Ellen was great! Super communicative, my pups loved her and she eased my mind sending plenty of pics! I will definitely be booking with her again!!”

“Fabulous! Gus was so comfortable with Jessica from the start. Our neighbors even commented on how much Gus enjoyed his walks with her. I have already recommended her to friends.”
“Brianna is responsive and communicates well. She took great care of our dogs after a last minute cancellation from another dog sitter. We’d easily consider her again the next time we need dog sitting.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs and cats my whole life. I have experience with caring for puppies, and more elder dogs. During Covid, my roommate and I started fostering dogs. We fostered an old sweet yellow lab, 2 puppies with worms and that were to be neutered, and a rambunctious pit bull that suffered from separation anxiety. For the last 4 years, I’ve been formally dog walking and pet sitting. I travel for a lot for work so I’m not able to have a pet of my own, but I’m more than happy to walk and care for yours! My schedule is quite all over the place, so feel free to reach out and I’ll try to accommodate! I’m a nurse and I work three days a week, so the rest of the week I’m fairly available! I won’t be able to offer overnight boarding or sitting at my residence, but Im more than happy to commute to yours! I can walk your dogs, play with them, try to reinforce good habits, just let me know what you’re looking for!
About: I have had a variety of experiences, especially with dogs! From a young age, I have taken care of pups. I have been surrounded by small, easy, chill dogs as well as more high-energy, needy dogs such as my family's current puppy, Finn, who is a border collie with lots of fun energy! Additionally, I have experience helping out at home in my neighborhood, walking and playing with multiple dogs, and taking care of their needs while their owners are away (feeding, walking, making sure they are good for the night). Since moving away to college and studying at NC State University, I have felt a lack of animal-loving and would be so excited to care for your pups and pets like they are my own! As a current college student, my schedule is pretty flexible. I am able to help on weekday mornings to afternoons (as early as ya need til 2:00 pm!). Additionally, I am able to help on weekends, mornings, noons, and nights with your pets! When caring for my pets in a home, the pet's safety and health are prioritized above everything else. For dog walking specifically, making sure that I am not distracted by anything else (phone, etc.) in order to provide the dog the best attention and be able to react to any situation, if necessary, is extremely important to me! Additionally, making sure that I am treating your personal space with respect when entering your home, as well as ensuring that I am keeping in constant contact with you regarding your pet and what you want out of my assistance!
About: Hi there! I’ve been a proud pet owner and animal lover my entire life, and caring for pets has always been second nature to me. My job allows me to have maximum flexibility to give your pets the time, attention, and care they deserve. I’m available to help with walks, feeding, playtime in the park, baths, and whatever your pet needs to feel happy, healthy, and loved. I’ve had hands-on experience caring for pets of all ages from playful puppies who need structure and training, to senior pets who may require patience, gentle handling, or medication. My goal is to give you peace of mind, to provide reliable, compassionate care and ultimately treat your furry family members as if they were my own. 🗓️ Scheduling: Because of my flexible work schedule, I have plenty of availability to assist you with your pets. Happy to coordinate with you to find times that best fit your routine and your pet’s needs. 🏠 Environment: I’m available to care for pets either in your home or mine, and I always prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment. I’ve cared for pets of all sizes and temperaments, and I’m happy to follow your pet’s specific care plan to keep their routine consistent.
“Karollyne follows instructions super well & is genuinely caring for my cats. When it was too cold and I had my window open, she closed it so that my kitties will not catch a cold. It’s the small details that matter! I would definitely book with her again.”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was a kid. I worked at Petco for 4 years and was a certified dog trainer for them for 2 years. I’ve worked with different types of dogs/animals and have learned how to identify a problem or emergency. Your dog will always be in a safe and welcoming environment. I’m super flexible and will do anything to help your pup out. I love taking walks and playing around with dogs, the more enrichment the better. I also can work with any size dog at any age. Your dog will be unstressed, comfortable, and always have a friend there for them. I work full time but am always willing to provide care any time I’m not working! I love being around animals and the more I can do for them, the more satisfied I feel. Our pets are our furry kids who make us feel loved and safe. They all deserve the best care possible. Dogs need lots of exercise, love, and attention and whether in my own home or in yours, you can trust that I will provide that. Cats have a mind of their own, they either want space to do their thing while feeling like they’re safe to do so, or they want all the attention in the world. I can provide both. :)
About: I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and ages, including playful puppies and gentle seniors. As a college student, I have a flexible schedule and endless love to give. I’m attentive, organized, responsible, and treat every dog like family with personalized care guaranteed! Growing up with a rowdy golden retriever, I have lots of experience with the crazy puppy/teen stage and the current senior dog stage. In addition, I also have tons of experience looking after my neighbors dogs and cats by doing simple drops-ins and walks when needed. I currently have LOTS of free time before my summer internship begins during both the week and weekdays. Once I am working (hybrid), I will still have plenty of time that I'd love to spend with animals and helping people out! When caring for your pets whether it is in your home or stopping by for walks, I follow all provided instructions closely and keep their routine consistent to reduce stress. I make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved by giving them plenty of attention and potty breaks. I always respect your home and send regular updates so you feel confident and connected while you're away.

“We had such a great experience and were so impressed with the care our dog and cat received! They took our dog on lots of walks, made sure she was let out regularly, gave her medications, and gave both of our pets plenty of company, attention, and cuddles while we were away. They even sent incredible pictures throughout! It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were being so well cared for. We came home to happy pets and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will absolutely be using them again and would highly recommend them!”

“Lauren was an excellent sitter! Our cats loved her from the very first meet and greet. She shared updates via the Rover app that showed them playing and snuggling. Don’t hesitate to book her!”

“I was so stressed about leaving my kitties for the first time and she took all that stress off my hands!! Shannon was amazing and my kitties loved her.. (eventually even the shy one warmed up to her). Sent me so many pics which made my anxious self feel so much better. So grateful I found her!!”

“Zoe checked in on our dog, Poppy over the weekend and took her on walks. She was prompt and communicative before and during the time. Will hope to use her again in the future!”

“Lauren took such great care of my two cats while I was away! She took the time to clean their litter boxes, feed them and even got playtime in during her visits. Would highly recommend!”

“I have used Nicole as a pet sitter a couple times now and love how great she is with my dog! My pup is slow to warm up to people but loves Nicole. Nicole is always on time for walks and sends a bunch of photos after each visit, which I always look forward to! She even gave my cat attention and sent picture updates of her after each visit even though she was only being paid to care for our dog. I highly recommend Nicole to take care of your pets!”

We’ve used Helena countless times now, and she truly is the best of the best! ❤️ It’s such a blessing to be able to go out of town and have complete peace of mind knowing our fur babies are being loved on and cared for to the highest degree. We couldn’t ask for anyone better to trust with our babies! 🐾💕

Emma was amazing for a last minute medication drop in! She sent an amazing update and really helped clear my mind while I was gone on work. It's clear she loves and is dedicated to caring for cats 💗 Silver is usually very shy, but came out quite quickly with Emma!!

Heather is terrific. She spends quality time with our cat, making sure she has plenty of food, treats water and a clean litter box while we are traveling. She goes above and beyond her Rover duties, contacting us if something doesn’t look quite right around the house or neighborhood. I trust her implicitly in my home and with my cat!

Beverly is wonderful! Our cats adore her, and she’s taken such great care of them. Her visit summaries are very thorough, and the photos are always so fun! She’s given us peace of mind to leave our older cat and new kitten alone together, and she helped us some with the introduction process in the beginning! She’s very communicative and always lets us know when there’s an issue, whether it’s because one of the cats threw up, or they got into something they shouldn’t have. We’re so grateful to have her looking after our kitties!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
