“Tracy always takes the best care of our doodles. They love going to her house with Ranger literally pulling me toward her door once we got out of the car. Arya loves all of the love and attention and Ranger deeply appreciates the play time. We always know our dogs are well loved when we are away.”

“I’ll definitely use Yanke again! This was my first time using a dog sitter and my pup didnt even look back at me once after dropping him off. She kept me updated with pictures and even paid attention to when he needed his pain medicine and gave it to him. Love her!!”

“Mariel and Teresa did an exceptional job watching my dog Ruby for an extended stay! While she is not a runner, it was reassuring that they put an AirTag on her in the case she got lost. They were very communicative and sent both pictures and videos regularly to help me feel connected to my pup while I was away. I would absolutely recommend them because you can feel their warmth and love for animals as soon as you meet them. I will certainly reach out again when in need.”

“This was G's first time with a sitter (and she is 11). She had a great time with Evelyn! Evelyn made it easy for us to enjoy our time away knowing that she was taking such great care of our girl.”

“We were very happy with Matt’s care of our dog, Dex. Matt has an easygoing way and we were comfortable right away having him watch Dex. He sent us pictures throughout Dex’s stay, even a video! When we picked Dex up, we knew he had been well-cared-for. I definitely recommend Matt.”

She followed all our directions and kept him comfortable and safe. We definitely recommend her for any of your dog sitting needs! Thank you Lori!”

“Carlita was a great sitter for my dog, she provided detailed updates via video and photos while my dog was in her care for 12+ days. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was in capable and caring hands. I will definitely use her services again.”

“Mary, Jonathan, and their lovely daughter took such wonderful care of our dog, Lily. From the very beginning, they were fantastic communicators—starting with the meet and greet and continuing with consistent updates throughout Lily’s stay. Our family especially loved receiving the adorable photos and videos that captured all the fun and love she was experiencing while we were away. It was clear Lily felt right at home with them. We truly can’t recommend Mary and Jonathan highly enough—they exceeded our expectations in every way. We’ve already booked them again for our summer vacation!”

About: I have done (and still do occasionally) some volunteer short-term fostering for two local rescue agencies. I owned a dog for many years when I lived up North. I love pets and feel that my quiet home would be a great place for when you need short-term care for your dog! I prefer dogs that are friendly to new people and used to "meeting" new people readily (such as me or a visitor). I sometimes say, "if he greets new people with kisses, that's a friendly dog!" NOTE: I am not usually available very "short nice" such as an evening request for the next day, or a morning request for that afternoon. Since I'm semi-retired, I'm home some days. Although I sometimes spend time on the computer or doing tasks around the house, I have plenty of time to spend with your dog! Whether playing or just hanging out with me while I watch some TV, your dog will get plenty of attention! I have a ½ acre yard, with a 4' fenced-in area, but I still usually would have your dog on-leash when I take him outside for potty time. My neighborhood is quiet, great for walks, short or longer! The household is quiet - no kids, just older adults.
“Anna is truly wonderful. She was very understanding and communicative. She made sure to tend to my dog’s schedule and made sure to update me with a picture of him everyday she had him. My dog seemed happy and comfortable being there. I will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Kelley took good care of cosmo.I am very comfortable leaving cosmo with her, I am sure cosmo had a great time. She sends updates and photos regularly. I have tried different pet sitters and I can say kelley is the best.”

“Sarah has such a great connection with animals and is absolutely amazing! She came to our rescue and watched our mini dachshund puppy (Freddie) while my husband and I went a trip we booked months ago. She is very attentive, and took Freddie on several walks and play sessions to keep him engaged and stimulated throughout the day. She sent us multiple videos and photos daily to keep us in the loop, and it put our minds at ease knowing Freddie was receiving so much love, attention, and was clearly having a great time. We highly recommend Sarah as a petsitter, and would love to have her watch Freddie again.”

“Sarah was amazing in communication throughout our extended trip and we would continue to recommend her to anyone that wants to feel comfortable that their dog is in great hands! Can't think her and her husband enough!”

“I had a great experience with Destiney! She was professional, super friendly, and really took the time to understand and care for my dog’s needs. My dog has some anxiety, but Destiney made both of us feel at ease. I felt completely comfortable leaving my pup in her care and could tell she genuinely loves what she does. I’d definitely book again without hesitation!”

Daisy had a great time with Nikki and Bear! Nikki communicated with us while we were away and made sure Daisy had lots of opportunities to play. She's very friendly and helps to make your dog feel welcome in her home. We would definitely utilize Nikki's services again for Daisy!

Gina was wonderful! Rory had such a good time staying with her. Lots of snacks and walks. It was really hot the week she was there, and Gina did a great job making sure she was comfortable and not over-exerting herself on their walks. Very thankful for all the cute photos and updates throughout the week as well. I'll 100% be reaching out in the future to get Gina to watch Rory again!

This is the second time Ane has watched our dog, Charlie, and we honestly wouldn’t trust anyone else. Charlie absolutely loves her, and it’s clear that he feels safe and comfortable in her care. We always have peace of mind knowing he’s in such good hands. Ane also sends regular updates, photos, and videos, which we truly appreciate. It makes being away from Charlie so much easier. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy dog sitter!

Eda was great! Our dogs can be anxious and high energy at times and she did so well with both of them! She texted everyday with updates and pictures so I always knew how they were doing. She has an awesome fenced yard that my dogs could run, sniff, and play in. Would definitely recommend and use her again!

George took such great care of our dog, Lola, during a 3 week boarding stay. This was the longest we’ve ever been away from her, so we were nervous at first, but George made us feel at ease from day one. He consistently sent thoughtful updates with lots of photos and videos, along with detailed messages that helped us feel connected to Lola while we were away. He was proactive about asking questions instead of making assumptions, which showed how much he genuinely cared about doing things the right way. When an unexpected situation arose, George handled it with incredible calm, responsibility, and professionalism. He was proactive and immediately kept us informed every step of the way, followed our vet’s care instructions carefully, rearranged his evening, stayed up late to make sure Lola was comfortable, and truly went above and beyond to care for her. We couldn’t have asked for someone more attentive or dedicated during a stressful situation. It’s clear that George genuinely loves the dogs he cares for and treats them like his own. We are so grateful for the time, effort, and compassion he showed Lola, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. We highly recommend George to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, communicative, and truly invested in their pet’s wellbeing.

Lori was absolutely awesome! We left our dog Jack with her for the first time for 14 days and he did great! He came back to us happy and healthy! Lori sent us pictures and updates every day. She followed all our directions and kept him comfortable and safe. We definitely recommend her for any of your dog sitting needs! Thank you Lori!

Que is amazing. My Jäger is large, high energy, smart, and a bit of a drama king. She was able to meet Jäger at his level (with what he's willing to do) and modify. He spent over a week with her and loved his time. She constantly sent me pictures. He even came back better behaved! We've definitely found Jäger's home away from home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
