“Matt was amazing with my pack and I would book him again in a heartbeat. We rescued my dog from an abusive household and he still can be very nervous around new people. Matt was amazing with him, he was in great hands and I was quickly no longer nervous about leaving my little guy. He was very communicative and my house was spotless when we came home. I would highly recommend Matt for your pet sitting needs!”

About: Hi I'm Brittaney! Multi cat owner and Oregon Humane Society adult volunteer. I have 9 years of experience caring for cats, including feeding, litter care, playtime, and administering medication. I’ve also provided professional cat care during weeklong stays. For dogs, I offer gentle, reliable walks to help them stay active and happy. I make sure all pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved, paying attention to their routines and personalities so every visit is tailored to them. I provide daily cat care and dog visits on a semi-flexible schedule. Morning visits: M,W,TH,F 8:30/9am-9:30am and 9am-9:30am on Saturdays Mid-day visits: Wednesday 10:00–1:30pm Evenings: M,Th,S 6pm - any Unavailable: Tuesdays (Sabbath) & Sundays I do not provide overnight care at this time- sorry! Note: I work full-time, so a little flexibility with visit times is appreciated. I provide pet care only in clients’ homes for two reasons: I want pets to be in the comfort of their familiar environment and I have two cats of my own that are territorial. Your pets’ safety, trust, and well-being are my top priorities, and I want to make sure they feel loved, comfortable, and cared for while following their usual routines.
“Al took very good care of Nuni. I received updates when I requested. Al was very responsive and my home was also kept in order. Al is injured and she went up and down the stairs with Nuni several times a day and didn't let her injury get in the way or say she couldn't take care of him. Al is very kind and considerate. Thank you so much for taking care of my baby!”

“We reached out to Lucinda for a very last minute request and she was able to graciously accommodate us. She was wonderful to work with and sent photos and updates that made it known our fur babies were very well cared for. We would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend her!”

“Jordan is literally amazing! She did so well with our fur babies! They loved her. Came home to a spotless house happy dogs and I couldn’t have been more pleased! Will definitely be using her again!”

“Barbra is just amazing! My cats can't wait for the next time I go out of town so they can hang out with her again. Barbra did a great job taking care of my house and 3 cats, after accepting a last minute request to fill in when my original sitter had to cancel. From the start, she provided clear and reliable communication, including sending lots of pictures of happy kitties and documenting their antics. She quickly made friends with the 2 shy cats and ensured that all 3 were happy and well cared for. Overall, the experience was super pleasant and easy and gave me lots of peace of mind that everything was under control. I couldn't be happier and would love to work with Barbra again.”

“Jami did a great job taking care of our two golden retrievers while we went on vacation for 7 days. She spent lots of time with them, sent photos & updates, and kept me from worrying about them while we were gone. We came home to happy healthy dogs. I would not hesitate to recommend her!”

“Bri took care of our 4 pets with ease and care. She was super communicative throughout the stay and was an absolute dream to work with. Highly recommend!”

“Melanie was great. Our 2 Dachshunds have never been without us. We needed someone who would be able to care for them in our home day and night. Melanie came and met with us and got to meet Piper and Lucus and we could tell everybody would be fine. She fed them, cleaned up potty issues especially when the rain never stopped, and kept them warm and cozy in our bed. We came home to 2 doggies, one who didn’t know who I was for a few minutes. It’s evident that there was a great rapport between them all. Thank you and we look forward to using your services again.”

“Freya did a good job of keeping my dogs comfortable while I was gone. They clearly liked her, got lots of play, and were happy and relaxed when I got home after a late flight. Definitely will re-book next time.”

“Alexis did an excellent job house sitting for our Golden Retriever! Sent lots of pictures of our pup during our trip, excellent communicator and really cares for animals. Would highly recommend!”

“Emma did a great job watching my pup! I’m always a little nervous leaving him with someone new and trusting someone in my home, but she made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. She kept me updated, took great care of him, and left the place spotless. I’ll definitely be using her again for future sits!”

“A pet sitting angel! I was freaking out because of a last minute cancellation from another sitter, but Alex came to my rescue and took over the booking. Turns out that the other sitter cancelling was the best thing that could have happened because Alex is everything I could ever want from a sitter. They were incredibly responsive to my messages, they gave frequent updates throughout the day complete with photos, they administered medication to both my cats, they went above and beyond to even clean up the place while I was away…but most importantly, my boys seemed to absolutely adore them! Absolutely a 10/10 ✨”

“Alyssa took great care of Leia and our home! She kept in touch regularly and sent photos of Leia throughout the day. Would recommend her to anyone who needs a sitter!”

“Anastasiya took such good care of our boy while we were out of town! She was super communicative and absolutely set our minds at ease. Would definitely recommend her to take care of your fur babies!”

“Amazingly professional and dedicated sitter. Knowing that she was taking care of our animals and our house really put us at ease and allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation without worrying about our animals at all. Her dog Theo is very sweet and got along great with both my dog and cat. Jessie took my dog to a different park or part of the river every day I was gone. Very professional and dedicated she took her job very seriously and went above and beyond. Highly recommend!”

“Ian stayed in our home to care for our 12 year old German Shepherd while we were on a 3 1/2 week long trip. He took great care of our dog and our home and made sure to check in with us periodically. We loved his short updates and pictures. Will definitely ask him and Susan again if they are available for our next trip.”

“Haley was wonderful! She helped me out with a last-minute booking and was incredibly kind throughout the process. She asked questions, followed all the care instructions, and took great care of my pup. I really appreciate her help and would definitely book with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Metzger
Hannah took great care of our dogs. She was responsive, responsible, and kept the house very clean. We felt confident that our dogs were safe and well cared for while we were away, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. We really appreciated the care she put into looking after both them and our home.

Emma, Has a very calm demeanor and made me feel at ease. I’m very protective of my pup and after talking with her I felt safe for her to watch Finley. She’s very respectful and a sweet lady that seems to have a genuine passion for animals. I could tell Finley likes her. I told her she’s welcome to come by anytime to see Fin. I will have watch Fin in the future as long as she’s willing and available. Thank you Emma!!

Anastasiya came to stay with Oliver and Bailey again for a short weekend getaway! We were so comfortable and happy to have her back in our home with our pups. She is so great about walking our dogs, snuggling, playing, send pics. Oliver and Bailey are always so happy when we come back home, and I know they love hanging out with Anastasiya! We will always choose to have her care for our dogs. She’s the best 🩷

Teaghan was incredible! Her communication was wonderful, and our cats warmed up to her quickly (even closely snuggling with her). She had great instincts with their care, and in general, you can tell how much she loves animals. We'd jump at the chance to use her again.

Heather was great to communicate with. She was incredibly accommodating with scheduling the meet and greet as well as the actual stay, and I received several updates each day. I came home to a happy pup and a clean house! I also appreciated her willingness to water my outdoor plants. Id be happy to book with Heather again in the future.

First time Rover user - We had Al watch our Labradoodle, Koko, for 3 days at our house. Al sent us photo every day which we appreciated as we had never left Kok with anyone other than family before. Koko immediately loved Al and you could see that Al was comfortable around dogs. All was very easy to work with, punctual, tidy and took Koko for long walks. She even brought a flavored dog toy for Koko. We highly recommend her!

Corinne is incredible! She stayed at our home with our pup for a week while we were out of the country. She was so responsive to messages and sent regular updates and photos of their adventures. The house was spotless when we returned. Our neighbor even commented that she had overheard Corinne “speaking in the kindest tone” to our dog while they were in the backyard. 10/10

Kathryn S was AMAZING!!! (She felt like family immediately when we met her). We are relatively new to Portland, so hadn’t found anyone yet to stay with our 65-pound dog…. Kathryn was like a second “Mom” to our boy—-and sent us updates and pictures daily. We totally enjoyed our vacation worry-free because of Kathryn.

Karla came into our household and quickly adapted to our two dogs and fish tanks. There were some hurdles at first to manage the male dog but she took control and by the end of the sit they were good together. She kept on schedule and kept the house in good condition i asked her to do two errands which she completed perfectly. When she left the house was in good condition. I would definitely hire her again in the future.
Geraldine watched our two elderly dogs for the week and we will definitely look forward to booking her again! Thank you so so much for taking such good care of our gentlemen. It meant a lot knowing we could both leave and that they would be in good hands, well loved, and respected in our absence. Not only that, but you went above and beyond, being flexible and taking care of our space, which is incredibly kind of you, and I greatly appreciate it. If you ever need anything please reach out but we’ll definitely be in touch in the future to see if you can watch the boys while we’re gone!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Metzger on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Metzger walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Metzger maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Metzger choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Metzger. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
