“Erika provided incredible care as she watched our two pups for several nights. We appreciate the great communication and ample pictures. Highly recommend!”

“Alex took great care of Myra and Clifford this past weekend! They kept us updated with regular check-ins, sent lots of photos, and followed all of our care instructions. I was especially nervous because Clifford can be reactive around other dogs, but Alex handled everything so well and gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear our pups were in great hands, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. Highly recommend!”

“Lynden was wonderful and my pets were very happy when I got home. I especially appreciated that she took Kirby for a run… Kirby loves to run, and I am sure Lynden was faster than me. Definitely will have her back!”

“Lucinda is a trusted house sitter and did a great job of looking after my 15 year old dog. And kept my home spotless. I already have her booked for a third dog sitting opportunity. Highly recommend Lucinda.”

About: I've been taking care of a few close friends dogs while they work since November 2025 and I have personally had my own canine familiars and family since 2010. I love spending time with all my dogs, going for walks, playing in the yards and parks when weather permits and most of all, giving them all the attention, lots of snuggling, cuddling and love. I don't do any dog training but am well experienced in how to handle dogs in different environments and situations. I am also a very clean and tidy individual who is willing to walk your dogs daily, clean up poop in your backyard (if you have one) and you can be assured I will keep your house spotless and clean as well. In past jobs, I have watered plants, gardens, lawns and made sure trash was taken out to the curbs on pick up days for no added charge. As for me and my personal life, I am a part time private mentor for individuals seeking change, men in recovery, men that are homeless and men that suffer mental health disorders. I've worked in several recovery homes for non-profits as an onsite house manager where my dog Angelo, at the time, was an integral part of many of the clients and the population we served in the program houses daily life, enrichment activities and mental health journeys. After loosing my beloved Angelo in January 2025 to lymphoma, I felt a new calling in my heart to help others with their dogs needs, give them peace of mind and trust when they are away for work, self care days or vacation. I look forward to meeting you and your fur family members soon! I have plenty of time to spend with any dogs I'm sitting for or around through the month and week. I am totally open in my schedule as I do not work a regular 9-5 job life. I try to stick to any routine that the clients request based on established routines with each dog and their person(s). I personally like to get up and go for morning, mid-day and evening walks with all my dogs I'm around if they prefer being active (not very many say no, lol). If they are more of a couch potato or have an indoor personality, I tailor our routine to activities and attention within the house. I always provide space upon meeting new dogs to let them move and get comfortable at their pace. I am a very quiet and passive fella that provides a positive safe space at all times to the best of my ability daily, its just my nature! So, its always a "win win" to me! I have yet to have any of the dogs I've been around not warm up to me.
“Lisa was a wonderful sitter for my pup. I was leaving my pup for 8 days, the longest I’d ever left him. He has some anxiety, so I was really anxious about it, but she put my mind at ease immediately. She spent lots of time with him, sent me lots of updates and overall it went really well. Charlie is looking forward to Auntie Lisa staying with him again!”

“Sparkle, as always, is an attuned and attentive sitter for my two kitties. I have one who is particularly sensitive that has cuddled right up to them and feels very grounded when I return home. My space was very clean and they sent cute pics throughout! Thanks Sparkle ✨!”

“Rachel was awesome! She communicated with us often, sometimes twice a day, and sent pictures as well. She offered to take on another household task that required attention while we were gone, which was very helpful and gave us extra peace of mind. We appreciated her positivity and her generous spirit. Our dog got regular daily walks, including long ones, which he loves! Rachel will be moving on from our local area, otherwise we would be definite repeat clients for sure!”

“Chardonay did an incredible job watching our dog and home while we were away! She gave him a ton of love, kept his normal rhythm intact, and was communicative and provided updates and pics along the way. Highly recommend and would trust with our pet again.”

“Hannah watched our two large dogs for 5 days while we were traveling. I found her to be very attentive to their needs and she also took really good care of our home. I would highly recommend her if you are in need of a house/dog sitter!”

“Such a nurturing dog-lover. Veronica was fabulous with my rambunctious pittie mix and my very shy JRT/Chihuahua mix. They both adored her (which was evidenced by the little one letting her take him for a walk!). Thank you so much, Veronica.”

Erika took amazing care of our two high energy/high anxiety GSPs! She gave detailed updates each day and took great care of the house as well, leaving everything spotless for our return. She was even able to stay later than expected when our flight was delayed. We will absolutely be reaching out to her again to care for our pups in the future!

Margaux was amazing, my request was a tad last minute and she communicated her schedule clearly which I so appreciated. My two dogs absolutely loved her, even my rescue pup who doesn't trust humans easily. I felt super comfortable leaving them in her capable hands. I really appreciate her care for both my dogs and house. I will absolutely book her next time I have to go out of town and I would definitely recommend Margaux to others.

Jami was great with my dogs. She took away the anxiety I had over leaving my dogs for a week. I received frequent check-ins to let me know the dogs were doing well and she left my house clean and tidy. One of my dogs recently had spine surgery and has a long list of restrictions and instructions. jami did a great job with him, following the instructions and making sure he was well cared for. My other dog also requires some special attention and she handled them both so well. I'll definitely be using her again when I travel.

Rachael was great! At our meet & greet, she was gentle and sweet with our very frail elderly kitties, and we felt they would be in good hands. She was comfortable dealing with our very detailed med and feeding instructions, which can all be overwhelming for some sitters. She left the house clean and was low-maintenance as a sitter, and we greatly appreciated her helping us out in a pinch--we had to book at the last minute and had a lot of uncertainty about our dates, but Rachael just rolled with it all! When we got home, the kitties seemed content and cared for. We will be happy to have Rachael back!
Teaghan is amazing!! My trip was 10 days and I had never before been away from my cats for more than a few days, but her daily updates put me at ease. It was apparent from the start they really loved her. I'm so grateful for all the love and care she provided them. I came home to calm, happy kitties. I will book with her again in the future!

Tatiana was incredibly responsive and provided regular updates of our puppy and cat. She also was able to help administer oral meds to our fussy cat and manage our high-energy puppy while leaving our house in a cleaner state than we left it. We’d definitely rebook with her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Slope walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Slope maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Slope choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Slope. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
