I honestly believe dogs are the sweetest beings on earth! One of my earliest memories is of my family’s first dog, an older black Lab named Raven. If I was feeling sad or scared, Raven was always by my side, comforting me with kisses and a tenderness that is so unique to our beloved pets. I don’t think there is a purer kind of love. Having dogs in my life from a very early age taught me so many invaluable lessons on the power of reciprocating love, compassion, and respect. Because dogs are such a tremendous part of my life, I decided to major in Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri in Columbia in the hopes of becoming a veterinarian. I studied animal behavior, anatomy, and physiology, among other disciplines. I’ve worked as a veterinary aid, administering medications, helping with X-rays, giving baths, trimming nails, walking dogs, giving customer service, and feeding all boarding dogs. I make a concerted effort to keep a positive mindset and to seek fun in daily life––I really try not to take anything for granted. This keeps me in a great mood and gives me a positive outlook on whatever life has in store for me. It's always best to come at even the most challenging situations with a good attitude and figure out what you can learn from them. I believe everything is connected and take a holistic approach to my work and relationships, and practice radical empathy with all living creatures and our natural environment. Being surrounded by dogs keeps me focused on all the good things in our world rather than all the bad, and I hope to become a true friend to your pup while you’re away.
