“I cannot say enough good things about this caring responsible sitter! Jessica not only kept our active 3 year old standard poodle,Gracie, well fed, safe and cared for, but she went beyond our expectations with hikes, great companionship and love so Gracie would't be lonely. Jessica stayed in our home for three weeks and she kept the yard sanitary, had the house all ready for our return and even left us ready for breakfast and brownies! We trusted her with our home and our sweet dog and I will call her again when we travel for sure. She is a lovely person who shows it in her care and concern for our dog.”

“Julia is amazing. Consistent, and truly at one with my Larry guy. She’s easy going and thorough and thoughtful and even brought special treats for my babes for day one. Highly highly recommend!!”

“Adriana was great! She was very communicative and sent us lots of photos and updates. She took great care of our house and our pup. Would highly recommend and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“We returned home yesterday after a long 6 day work trip to find 2 very happy fur babies and a perfectly clean home. I could tell they we're given the VIP treatment the entire time we we're gone, and it was such a relief to have the peace of mind while away. Jennifer sent photos and updates at least 2X a day. All our mail was gathered, plants watered, bedding washed. We have an older lab mix and a 6 month old Newfie who requires a lot of attention and awareness to health & physical growing developments. Zeke & Jennifer did a perfect job with him. This is the first time we've had home sitters, and their attention to detail couldn't have been better. Prior to us leaving they came by and spent a good hour going through all the details and meeting our pups. 5 star care all the way, they definitely have 2 fluffy friends for life now :)”

“Alicia provided amazing in home care for my 2 dogs. She is very professional, friendly and seems to genuinely love spending time engaging and caring for dogs. She proactively shared daily updates of their adventures and included some incredible photos.”

“Susan has been so wonderful. All of our animals love her including our cats who usually take a few days to warm up to new people were happy to greet her on day 1. I am so glad we found Susan she takes such great care of our pets, providing their daily meds and even carrying our blind pug outside for his potty breaks and the house is always well taken care of. We already have her booked again and will definitely keep booking her for as long as she keeps accepting.”

“Veronica was great! My pets were well cared for and my house was in good order. She communicated well with me and accommodated all my requests. I am booking her again right now!!”

“Michelle was absolutely stellar with Woody while I was away for a quick trip. Everything looked great when I got home and Woody was so well taken care of. Michelle is the best!”

“This was the first time we went away without the sweet little rescue dog that we adopted a year ago. Lucinda was kind and gentle and patient with her, and was able to build trust. We just got home, the dog is in great soirits, and the house looks great! We received daily updates that set our minds at ease. We are so grateful for the outstanding care that Lucinda provided while we were away!”

She communicated clearly and consistently, followed all instructions carefully, and always made caring for my cat Mitten her top priority. She genuinely loves my cat, which made it very reassuring to know everything was in such attentive and caring hands. I would highly recommend Erika to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful house sitter.”

“Malissa was a good communicator and sent us pictures of our dog each day, which we so appreciated. Thank you Malissa for taking such good care of Ollie and our house. We will see you again in May!”

About: As a pet parent myself, I know exactly what it feels like to walk out the front door and feel that instant wave of worry; leaving your furry family members requires an immense amount of trust, and my top priority is making sure you feel completely secure, updated, and at ease while you’re away. I bring extensive, hands-on experience caring for puppies, adult dogs, and cats of all personalities—whether that means managing a young puppy's strict potty-training schedule, giving a senior dog a gentle afternoon stroll, or respecting a cautious cat’s boundaries. I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own, and I am committed to following your exact routine while providing detailed updates and plenty of photo check-ins so you never have to guess how they are doing.🦮💜🐾 Pet care is my top priority, and I structure my daily and weekly life entirely around my work. Because I plan my personal schedule to fit the needs of my clients, I have an incredibly open, flexible schedule. Whether your pet needs a morning walk, a midday check-in, or evening care, I am fully available to ensure they get consistent attention and love exactly when they need it. When caring for pets, safety and comfort are my absolute top priorities. I live in a pet-friendly home with my own dogs, so I am deeply familiar with managing multiple animal dynamics and maintaining a secure, supervised environment—including the ability to keep my dogs completely separated from yours whenever needed. Whether hosting pets in my home or providing drop-in care and walks at yours, I strictly follow all specific care instructions, double-check that doors and gates are fully secure, and always keep dogs securely leashed during outings. My goal is to maintain your pet's exact routine so they feel completely safe, relaxed, and loved.
“Margaret was fantastic as a dog sitter and house sitter. I would strongly recommend. Had good and consistent communication, kept house tidy and plants watered and was proactive for our needs. Most important: our dog really did well with her. I would highly recommend her, unless we needed her for the same dates... I hope to have her help us again in the future.”

“Bryanna was absolutely wonderful with our fur babies! We got updates regularly and lots of photos. We really appreciated that she asked questions when needed instead of assuming or winging it, and she really put the needs of our pets first. We feel confident leaving the fur babies in her hands and we will be rebooking with her very soon!”

“emma is an angel who puts anxious pups and their even more anxious owners at ease 😭 had a last minute change before I had to leave town for 3 days that required much more extensive care for my pup than initially anticipated and she was so understanding, willing to adjust, and communicative. i rlly cant thank her enough. also im pretty sure my pup was upset i got back and emma had to leave 😂 as an incredibly anxiously attached pup mama, i 100% recommend her to anyone!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Garden Home-Whitford
Corinne is incredible! She stayed at our home with our pup for a week while we were out of the country. She was so responsive to messages and sent regular updates and photos of their adventures. The house was spotless when we returned. Our neighbor even commented that she had overheard Corinne “speaking in the kindest tone” to our dog while they were in the backyard. 10/10

Kathryn S was AMAZING!!! (She felt like family immediately when we met her). We are relatively new to Portland, so hadn’t found anyone yet to stay with our 65-pound dog…. Kathryn was like a second “Mom” to our boy—-and sent us updates and pictures daily. We totally enjoyed our vacation worry-free because of Kathryn.

Karla came into our household and quickly adapted to our two dogs and fish tanks. There were some hurdles at first to manage the male dog but she took control and by the end of the sit they were good together. She kept on schedule and kept the house in good condition i asked her to do two errands which she completed perfectly. When she left the house was in good condition. I would definitely hire her again in the future.
Geraldine watched our two elderly dogs for the week and we will definitely look forward to booking her again! Thank you so so much for taking such good care of our gentlemen. It meant a lot knowing we could both leave and that they would be in good hands, well loved, and respected in our absence. Not only that, but you went above and beyond, being flexible and taking care of our space, which is incredibly kind of you, and I greatly appreciate it. If you ever need anything please reach out but we’ll definitely be in touch in the future to see if you can watch the boys while we’re gone!!

Jessica was wonderful with our dogs and took excellent care of them for a long weekend. She managed amazingly well with our 15-yr-old high needs dog and ensured she took her pills and ate her food, which is no small feat. She left the house clean and tidy, and the dogs seemed happy and relaxed.
Erika took amazing care of our two high energy/high anxiety GSPs! She gave detailed updates each day and took great care of the house as well, leaving everything spotless for our return. She was even able to stay later than expected when our flight was delayed. We will absolutely be reaching out to her again to care for our pups in the future!

Elizabeth and Michael were amazing! They took great care of our pets and home while house-sitting for us! Our dog struggles with walking with strangers but they were patient with her and able to work up to some good walks with her! Frequent pictures and updates helped us know we were in good hands. Will definitely book again!
Jami was great with my dogs. She took away the anxiety I had over leaving my dogs for a week. I received frequent check-ins to let me know the dogs were doing well and she left my house clean and tidy. One of my dogs recently had spine surgery and has a long list of restrictions and instructions. jami did a great job with him, following the instructions and making sure he was well cared for. My other dog also requires some special attention and she handled them both so well. I'll definitely be using her again when I travel.

Rachael was great! At our meet & greet, she was gentle and sweet with our very frail elderly kitties, and we felt they would be in good hands. She was comfortable dealing with our very detailed med and feeding instructions, which can all be overwhelming for some sitters. She left the house clean and was low-maintenance as a sitter, and we greatly appreciated her helping us out in a pinch--we had to book at the last minute and had a lot of uncertainty about our dates, but Rachael just rolled with it all! When we got home, the kitties seemed content and cared for. We will be happy to have Rachael back!
Chelsee is amazing! Her love for animals is clear from the moment you meet her. We have a dog that is anxious when she meets people, and Chelsee was patient and calm and put her at ease. She earned her trust quickly. She took great care of our dog and we look forward to having her spend more time with her again. Thank you so much Chelsee!!

Bryanna was absolutely wonderful with our fur babies! We got updates regularly and lots of photos. We really appreciated that she asked questions when needed instead of assuming or winging it, and she really put the needs of our pets first. We feel confident leaving the fur babies in her hands and we will be rebooking with her very soon!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Garden Home-Whitford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Garden Home-Whitford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Garden Home-Whitford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
