âJustina was a great sitter for our two doggies! Excellent communication and in general, just a lovely human. We will definitely book Justina again.â

âWe came home to a well cared for happy and healthy Zuzu. Mathew was extremely good at keeping us informed with updates complimented with pictures of our dog doing all things that they do. Our home was very clean when we returned from an overseas trip and our numerous plants were well watered. Should you need a true dog person, someone who demonstrates real affection towards your pet and has the highest professional standards then Mathew is your guy. We hold him in the highest regard.â

âErika was an excellent house sitter... I canât thank her enough!! She communicated clearly and consistently, followed all instructions carefully, and always made caring for my cat Mitten her top priority. She genuinely loves my cat, which made it very reassuring to know everything was in such attentive and caring hands. I would highly recommend Erika to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful house sitter.â
âLucinda is a trusted house sitter and did a great job of looking after my 15 year old dog. And kept my home spotless. I already have her booked for a third dog sitting opportunity. Highly recommend Lucinda.â

âBryanna was absolutely wonderful with our fur babies! We got updates regularly and lots of photos. We really appreciated that she asked questions when needed instead of assuming or winging it, and she really put the needs of our pets first. We feel confident leaving the fur babies in her hands and we will be rebooking with her very soon!â

âFreya did a great job making us feel comfortable with our kitty while we were out of town. She was very good at communicating with updates and pictures and kept the house nice and clean. Would definitely recommendâ

âEmma, Has a very calm demeanor and made me feel at ease. Iâm very protective of my pup and after talking with her I felt safe for her to watch Finley. Sheâs very respectful and a sweet lady that seems to have a genuine passion for animals. I could tell Finley likes her. I told her sheâs welcome to come by anytime to see Fin. I will have watch Fin in the future as long as sheâs willing and available. Thank you Emma!!â

âOur dogs really love Jami. She helped ease my mind being away from our home and pets for a 10 day vacation. Very reliable, responsive when I text. Stayed late on the day of our arrival back since our flight didnât get in until midnight. Highly recommend her.â

âJulia was so patient and caring with our somewhat anxious dog! Julia took the time for a few house visits before we left so the dogs would be familiar- it worked out great! I would definitely recommend Julia- a very kind and responsible dog sitter :)â

For dogs, I offer gentle, reliable walks to help them stay active and happy. I provide daily cat care and dog visits on a semi-flexible schedule. âAlicia provided amazing in home care for my 2 dogs. She is very professional, friendly and seems to genuinely love spending time engaging and caring for dogs. She proactively shared daily updates of their adventures and included some incredible photos.â

âEmma is very conscientious and thorough when taking care of our pets and home. She is very in tune with the animals needs. Felt very secure having Emma care for our loved ones!â

âWe were very happy with Alyssa; she was dependable, tidy, communicative and intelligent. She made a good effort with our purrsnickity older cat who is a Mama only Girl, and even had her coming around in a matter of 2 days. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again.â

âA pet sitting angel! I was freaking out because of a last minute cancellation from another sitter, but Alex came to my rescue and took over the booking. Turns out that the other sitter cancelling was the best thing that could have happened because Alex is everything I could ever want from a sitter. They were incredibly responsive to my messages, they gave frequent updates throughout the day complete with photos, they administered medication to both my cats, they went above and beyond to even clean up the place while I was awayâŚbut most importantly, my boys seemed to absolutely adore them! Absolutely a 10/10 â¨â

âMelanie did a great job house sitting Kelly for 7 days while I was away. I could tell he was having a fun time by the daily photos she shared. Plus, the house looked great when I returned. No issues or concerns. I look forward to hiring Melanie again for my next trip.â

âKai was wonderful with our two senior Golden Retrievers! She was easy to communicate with and flexible with our schedule. We couldn't be happier with her service. We highly recommend Kai!â

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Garden Home-Whitford
Jennifer was great with our dog Sadie, who hates it when we leave and hates to be left alone. She took such good care of her, our house and even our plants while we were gone for 16 days. She sent great photos every day, which made us feel better about leaving Sadie behind.

Emma, Has a very calm demeanor and made me feel at ease. Thank you Emma!!

Teaghan was incredible! Her communication was wonderful, and our cats warmed up to her quickly (even closely snuggling with her). She had great instincts with their care, and in general, you can tell how much she loves animals. We'd jump at the chance to use her again.

First time Rover user - We had Al watch our Labradoodle, Koko, for 3 days at our house. Al sent us photo every day which we appreciated as we had never left Kok with anyone other than family before. Koko immediately loved Al and you could see that Al was comfortable around dogs. All was very easy to work with, punctual, tidy and took Koko for long walks. She even brought a flavored dog toy for Koko. We highly recommend her!

Corinne is incredible! She stayed at our home with our pup for a week while we were out of the country. She was so responsive to messages and sent regular updates and photos of their adventures. The house was spotless when we returned. Our neighbor even commented that she had overheard Corinne âspeaking in the kindest toneâ to our dog while they were in the backyard. 10/10

Kathryn S was AMAZING!!! (She felt like family immediately when we met her). We are relatively new to Portland, so hadnât found anyone yet to stay with our 65-pound dogâŚ. Kathryn was like a second âMomâ to our boyâ-and sent us updates and pictures daily. We totally enjoyed our vacation worry-free because of Kathryn.

Karla came into our household and quickly adapted to our two dogs and fish tanks. There were some hurdles at first to manage the male dog but she took control and by the end of the sit they were good together. She kept on schedule and kept the house in good condition i asked her to do two errands which she completed perfectly. When she left the house was in good condition. I would definitely hire her again in the future.
Geraldine watched our two elderly dogs for the week and we will definitely look forward to booking her again! Thank you so so much for taking such good care of our gentlemen. It meant a lot knowing we could both leave and that they would be in good hands, well loved, and respected in our absence. Not only that, but you went above and beyond, being flexible and taking care of our space, which is incredibly kind of you, and I greatly appreciate it. If you ever need anything please reach out but weâll definitely be in touch in the future to see if you can watch the boys while weâre gone!!

Jessica was wonderful with our dogs and took excellent care of them for a long weekend. She managed amazingly well with our 15-yr-old high needs dog and ensured she took her pills and ate her food, which is no small feat. She left the house clean and tidy, and the dogs seemed happy and relaxed.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Garden Home-Whitford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Garden Home-Whitford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Garden Home-Whitford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
