“Our little senior doxie, Rocky, spent 2 weeks with Barbara and we couldn’t be more happy with how it went! Barbara gave him lots of love and cuddles, and they spent some time watching Dodger baseball together. Rocky can’t wait for the next time he can spend time with Barbara 😊”

“Mariia was a wonderful pet sitter treated my cat as her own. I couldn't have asked for better care for her. Will definitely look up Mariia for pet sitting in the future!”

“Peter was wonderful!!! He was very thoughtful and kind. My pup can be a little shy but she loved hanging out with Peter, family and pups! Thanks Peter!!!”

“Jennifer and Eric and their two sons were amazing with my nine month old pup! I was so grateful to have a safe loving home for my dog to be at while I was out of town. Thank you again so much for treating her like your own!”

“Katie was very responsive and did a great job communicating with us during our dog, Lucy’s, stay at her home. It was so good to get pictures of Lucy each day. Katie’s yard is a dog haven - big fenced yard with so much room to run and roam around. We recommend Katie and hope to be able to board Lucy with her in the future.”

“Mersal was terrific. The day I was scheduled to drop off Ramona, we had a minor issue that required a vet visit. This not only delayed our drop-off time but also involved Ramona needing medication while she stayed with Mersal. Mersal took it all in stride, provided ongoing updates along with some very sweet pictures, and Ramona made a new friend with Cora, Mersal's dog. This was the first time that Ramona spent any extended time with another dog and it was clear that she and Cora bonded. I definitely recommend Mersal and I plan to use her again in the future.”

“Saawan and Kangna were the best!! Our corgi is a lot to handle sometimes, being a high energy breed, with his barking, and corgi habits. And they did such a great job with him. He came home happy and tired. We loved the regular updates they sent and were so happy to see pictures always popping up while we were on our trip. We loved their communications and flexibility when we had a 5 minute delay picking up. We will sure be adding Saawan and Kangna to the top of our list for sitters.”

“Ron did a wonderful job caring for our dog, Henry, and was great about administering the special eye medication our guy requires. This was the second time we’ve left Henry with Ron and both times he seemed happy and comfortable there. There’s a big back yard to sniff around in and a comfy couch for lounging. Ron’s calm demeanor really made Henry feel at home, and Henry came home happy and in great shape. We will definitely contact Ron for any future dog sitting needs!”
“Shari is the absolute best! Roscoe had never stayed with anybody except for us and she made him feel so loved and relaxed. We are so thankful for the care she provided our pup and for the updates and pictures. I was so nervous to leave him but she reassured us that he would have a wonderful stay and she was right. Her disposition is so sweet and calming. Highly recommend!”

“Our boy Benny loves staying with Damon. He’s attentive, loving and always fun for the pups. Benny is comfortable and happy and that’s what matters when we have to leave him.”

“Angelica has watched our pup for multiple long 10-day stretches and short weekend getaways, and our pup always always pulls and starts whining in excitement when she sees Angelica. Our pup isn’t the easiest because she’s young, large, and high energy. Angelica has no problem managing her, keeping her training up, and even sending her home with better manners. She’s also very diligent in finding playmates and making sure she socializes appropriately with the other pups. It is a relief to find someone that can take not only take care of your pup, but also :care: about them. Angelica does both and we could not be more at ease knowing our pup is with her!”

“Yvonne and Sam are fantastic! Our dog was well taken care of and I would definitely recommend them! Yvonne kept me updated regularly and even cooked an egg to add to my pup’s food since she wasn’t eating it in the new environment. It was my first time using rover while we were out of town and I’m so glad I found Yvonne. We will definitely become regulars :)”

“Allison was really easy to work with. Her and her family took good care of my dog and responded timely with updates when I checked in. I would gladly work with her again in the future.”

“Mariah did a great job. She sent me photos of Harper getting comfortable at her house and updates consistently throughout Harper's stay. Mariah even went above and beyond boiling chicken and rice to mix with Harper's dog food when it appeared she wasn't eating. Excellent dog sitter.”

“Heather was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Ponyo! She’s a sensitive and a bit (read:very) quirky pup, and I was anxious to leave Ponyo solo with a sitter for the first time after losing her brother earlier this year. Heather was communicative and attuned to Ponyo’s methods of communication. She came back better and happier than we left her. Thank you, Heather!!!”

“Hayley & Graham were awesome! We so much appreciate them for taking care of our two pups and the new friends Chloe and Millie made while they were on vacation too. Thank you for the pics and video it made us miss them a lot :-)”

“Our pup was nervous given she hasn’t stayed anywhere without us for a few years, but Laura sent us photos of her sleeping, and it was clear that Laura was very attentive and loving, so we knew she was safe and sound. Hoping a few more visits at Laura’s will help our little Chihuahua settle in a little easier.”
“Huge thanks to Tianqi for taking such great care of Kaaju while we were away! 🐾 It means a lot to know he was in such good hands. I'm so happy he made a new friend(summer) during this time—it’s clear he was comfortable, happy, and well-loved. We couldn’t have asked for a better foster home. Thank you again, Tianqi! 💛”

“Maria is great! As soon as I met her, I knew Porkchop would be in great hands. She is attentive and sets a routine early on. I felt better on vacation knowing she was watching Porkchop. She communicated everyday and answered questions I had. Thanks Maria!”

We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Kendall! She was genuinely caring, attentive, and treated our dogs like her own. Her communication was top-notch—she kept us updated with clear check-ins and sent fantastic photos throughout, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Most importantly, our dogs absolutely loved her! We will definitely be reaching out to her again.
This was our 3rd boarding stay with Damon and remain so grateful to have found him! We had a last-minute request and Damon was able to accommodate us. Our dogs literally fly out of the car when we arrive and can’t wait to get into his yard! Damon always sends great pictures and updates, and it’s clear they have an amazing time in his care. We’re so happy to have someone we completely trust with our dogs and feel so much better knowing they’re having fun and being well cared for while we’re away. We’ll definitely keep coming back!

Once again Teddy loved his stay with Morgan. Morgan went above and beyond when Teddy landed on a stick jumping around playing ball. Morgan took him to the vet and made sure he followed directions gave him all his meds and made him chicken, rice and vegetables. Thank you Morgan!

Mariah did a great job. She sent me photos of Harper getting comfortable at her house and updates consistently throughout Harper's stay. Mariah even went above and beyond boiling chicken and rice to mix with Harper's dog food when it appeared she wasn't eating. Excellent dog sitter.

Kuma had a wonderful stay with Odalis and her family! She accommodated us on a last minute notice for our 5 day New York trip. She is super communicative and we could tell how much she loves animals! She took the time to make sure Kuma was comfortable and well taken care of. He had a great time and we are so thankful!

Our Bellatrix is very nervous, but seemed to do well with Michelle! She was able to adjust, and seemed happy in all of the updates that Michelle sent! As a first time dog mom of a nervous baby, I really appreciated all of the photos, videos, and updates we received throughout bellatrix's stay!

Our nervous Aussie Labradoodle was did great boarding with Peter. She ate her food, slept and took her meds without freaking out. We were sure, as a veteran, Peter could handle her if she did freak out. She felt safe enough to stay calm with him. We’ll definitely ask Peter to board her the next time we travel.

We were so grateful to have found Natasha! She took the best care of our little, old pup. Our shy/nervous dog needed a quiet home without other pets where she could have some one-on-one love while we were away and that’s exactly what she got. Natasha took her for lots of walks and kept us in the loop with how she was doing each day. We would most definitely use Natasha again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Metzger home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Metzger.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Metzger sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
