“Courtney and her family were wonderful taking care of our dog. I get plenty of pictures and updates every day. It is so good to know he is well loved and well taken care of!”

“This is the second time we have used Connie and we were happy yet again! Our dog was so excited to come in and be with Connie and Jojo at drop off. She sent pictures and kept in touch while we were away. Marco is blind, so I am sure he is extra work, but Connie has been amazing and we will use her again!! Thanks so much!!”

“Melissa is amazing! She kept me updated daily and even sent pictures!! I felt at ease knowing my pup was been very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend her!”

“This was my first time leaving my babygirl at someone else’s home without me, and Katie made the whole experience so easy and stress-free. She kept me updated with photos and videos the entire time, and it was clear how happy and well cared for my girl was. I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such loving hands. I highly recommend Katie to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy pet sitter!”

“Robert did a great job with Tater. I loved the pic and video showing Tater playing with the other dogs and relaxing. He got a lot of love and cuddles while I was away. I am really happy to have connected with Robert and his dogs so quickly. It was the perfect match for Tater.”

“I recommend Britanny a million times. From drop off to pickup she was very communicative sending pictures almost every day. She babied him and showed him love. My pup couldn’t have been in better hands. A+++ experience. Thank you Britanny and family.”

“Fabulous dog loving family! Great fenced in back yard and lots of hugs for Leo from the kids! We were very, very happy with how well Leo was taken care of while we were away. He was with Linda and her family for almost a whole week. Linda was great about sending me a picture of Leo's vacation each day. We really appreciate her willingness to work with our schedule and her prompt reply when we first inquired about having Leo stay with her. I highly recommend Linda to anyone looking to board their dog with a loving and attentive family. Thank you!”

“Iris was great with my dog Chase. She sent pictures and updates while we were out of town, which I really appreciated. Communication was easy, and she answered all of my questions. Her kids and home made Chase feel comfortable, just like he was at home. Thank you again for taking such good care of him. I strongly recommend her!”

“Wayne was fantastic in communicating with me daily on how our little pup was doing. I felt very comfortable leaving Marshmallow with him. He is very experienced managing multiple dogs and has his home set up well to do so. Thank you so much Wayne we hope to book with you in the future again.”

“Robert was great with my pup Maverick! He was able to watch him last minute for me, and would send me picture updates and let me know how he was doing, eating, and adjusting. Maverick got a lot of play time too and had a great time! I will definitely be using Robert again in the future!”

“Thank you Lyn and your family for a great job taking care of our Walter. We really appreciate all you expertise with dogs and we'll be bringing back Walter again soon. Thank you A+”

About: I have been taking care of my friend's dog every summer for the past two years. Currently, I am taking care of my roommate's dog and taking her dog on a walk when she is busy traveling out of town or busy with her school work. Both of my roommates and my friend felt comfortable with me looking after their loved ones. I am currently a dental student at Midwestern University looking to earn extra budget on the side to help with school’s expenses so you are helping me as I am helping you! My living space area is separate from my roommate's living area. If there are concerns about other pets in the house, currently there is no other pet in the living area

“Angelica was fantastic. Pluto came back in a very good mood and was relaxed at home, which says to me that he had a good time and felt safe with her and her dogs. I booked with Angelica last minute due to a cancellation and I am so glad I did! Thanks again.”

“Lisa and her family was amazing!! Probably the best sitter experience we have had on Rover! She sent us a lot of pics. Her kiddos took our dog on lots of walks and kept him busy (and feeling loved).”

“Judy was the best. She took in our 1 yr. old pup and treated him like a king. She was flexible and accommodating. There were many updates where he looked happy and cool in the plus 90 heat! Thank you, Judy.”

“Patricia took amazing care of Zoey. She was great with sending us video and photo updates which gave us peace of mind. I highly recommend Patricia and look forward to having her watch Zoey again.”

Jean and Al were wonderful pet sitters for Gus and Stella during our 10-day vacation. We felt completely at ease knowing they were being cared for so well. Gus is a special needs dog and needs extra attention, including medication, and Jean and Al went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, cared for, and had everything he needed. They also sent us photos of both dogs every day, which we really appreciated. It was obvious from the pictures that Gus and Stella were relaxed, happy, and getting plenty of love from Jean, Al, and their family. When we picked them up, both dogs seemed happy and completely comfortable, which told us everything we needed to know. We’re very grateful for the care they gave Gus and Stella and would absolutely use them again the next time we travel.

Danielle was fantastic! Communication was great and Pete seemed to really enjoy his stay. I would 100% recommend Danielle’s services and I will for sure rebook for my next trip. It is so nice to know my dog is being well taken care of and loved as their own while I’m out of town!

Benji spent another week with Amanda and he loved it! He does have a little bit of separation anxiety, this was his second time, and he had no problem heading into her door and away from me. She is amazing, sends updates with pictures and cuddles with him on the couch. Best sitter ever!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
