“Kelly and Tariq have become my ‘go to’ pet sitters and I couldn’t be more grateful to them for their hospitality and caring nature of my 4 legged kids. Love the updates and photos! Especially my last visit when they were willing to watch my 3 month old puppy who isn’t yet housebroken. Very appreciative to you and your family, thank you again!!”

“Wayne was fantastic in communicating with me daily on how our little pup was doing. I felt very comfortable leaving Marshmallow with him. He is very experienced managing multiple dogs and has his home set up well to do so. Thank you so much Wayne we hope to book with you in the future again.”

“Beth was great with my dog Brandy. Brandy was well taken care of and Beth had prompt communication and updates about my dog while I was out of town. Due to a snow storm my return was delayed by a day and Beth was able to accommodate the last minute change. I would definitely recommend Beth to anyone looking for a great dog sitter with a spacious fenced in yard.”

“My dog Bodie had an excellent time and spent the entire time playing with his dogs. He was exhausted when I picked him up after his stay which is always a great sign! I would 100% recommend having Tyler take care of your dog. Great communication and plenty of pictures throughout the stay.”

“Palvi is very nice and did a great job in taking care of Snoopy over 5 days while we were on vacation. Snoopy is shy, anxious by nature & picky eater. Snoopy got comfortable with her family in short time & had good fun time playing hide & seek with her kids & her pet Corgi. We are so thankful that we found Palvi & would definitely recommend her.”

“I had never boarded my little 13 year old dog. When I had my Meet and Greet with Eric, Mollie jumped up next to him and cuddled. I knew then that she picked Eric. I was gone for a week over the 4th of July and Eric took amazing care of her even with the fireworks. As far as I am concerned I will never leave her with anyone else when I need a sitter.”

“Linda and family are wonderful! We really enjoy our time away knowing our Lulu is being so well taken care of. She is happy and energetic when we drop her off and when we pick her up. 💜💜”

“You will not find a better dog sitter. I feel like we won the lottery with Terri. I wasn’t sure if Murphy would even want to come back to us. The best updates with pictures throughout the day, fantastic long walks and a special toy to take home. Murphy was with her for and extended time and we trusted her the entire time.”

Lynda was so great to our 2 girls! It was their first time being boarded and away from us. She made us feel okay leaving them in her care. She has such a great set up for the dogs with her fenced in yard and they loved her big picture window with a ledge. She sent us plenty of pictures while we were away and is very quick to reply. She is wonderful!

David and Susan, very ably assisted by their son Jackson, took wonderful care of our 8-month old puppy on his recent 2 day stay. They were caring, attentive and communicative with us during our puppy's first stay away from home. We highly recommend them and hope they are available the next time we need a place for our dog to stay.

Jenna went above and beyond in taking such great care of my boy! My dog has a lot of energy and I could tell from the updates, he was getting to play a ton and received a lot of love. Jenna was great about keeping me in the loop all throughout his stay but also great at following up with me fast. I would highly recommend Jenna to watch any pet and will definitely reach out again when I need help

Willow loved her stay at Justine & Brett’s! She was reliable, communicative, and clearly loves animals. We received regular updates and photos. Our dog came home happy, relaxed, and very well cared for. We truly appreciated the extra attention and love she gave. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!

Such a lovely family who warmly embrace all dogs and their needs. My dog - Clipper - had a wonderful couple of nights there. They were in touch with cute photos and updates and were extremely gracious and welcomed Clipper for an extra night when my flight home was cancelled. I’ll definitely rebook with Amanda and Anton!

Christine took amazing care of our dog Simon! She went above and beyond to make sure he was given lots of love, and was energized with daily walks and enrichment. She was very attentive to his needs and sent regular updates, putting our minds at ease to know he was in good hands and well cared for throughout his stay. Christine was the absolute best!

Rachel is amazing!! She kept in touch with us throughout the stay which I really appreciated it, she sent photos and in every photo Stella looked so happy and I knew she was having a blast. Will definitely book with Rachel again. Thank you so much for taking care of our Stella girl💓

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
