“Christina and her family were the perfect house for our 8 month old puppy. They were amazing with him and Charlie and their dog became fast friends. We are grateful to have found a home we trust when we go out of town. Highly recommend Christina!”

“Arielle was wonderful with Charlie! She kept me updated, took great care of him, and made sure he felt comfortable. I really appreciate her kindness and patience. Highly recommend!”

“Super thoughtful and experience with dogs. Sent videos and updates and was flexible when we needed to pick our dog up later than expected. Beautifully maintained home and neighborhood.”

“Michelle was wonderful! She was very responsive and my dog absolutely loved her. She sent picture updates and was very prompt with drop off and pick up. Highly recommend”

“Winston had a great time at Linda’s! She gave me updates to let me know how he was doing and was flexible with pick up and drop off times. If you need a dog sitter I highly recommend Linda!”
“traci was fantastic with our girl shadow. she sent lots of cute pictures and updates, and i know shadow loved the yard and playing with charlie. we will for sure be using traci again!”
“Alexandria was absolutely amazing with our puppy! We needed someone super last minute while being out of town and she was willing to go above and beyond to pick him up and take care of him! She made sure to send plenty of pictures, videos, and updates which I loved! I could tell Koda was really happy with her and had a lot of fun which put me at ease! I’d definitely recommend her to anyone I know because of how great she was. I can tell she has a real passion for animals which is so important when you’re leaving your pet with someone!”

“This was the second time and on this particular occasion for a longer period of time that I utilized Will as a sitter. I believe that my pet was again well cared for and it was great to receive pictures of my pet when she was in the care of Will. I’m sure my pet was much happier being in the care of Will than in a kennel with a dozen other dogs.”

“Our dog Marty had a wonderful stay at Maria’s house. He was all smiles when we picked him up. I would recommend Maria to anyone who likes their dog to have fun interacting with other dogs.”

“Melissa is amazing! She kept me updated daily and even sent pictures!! I felt at ease knowing my pup was been very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend her!”

“I try to always tip in cash. For some reason I don't know I just feel like it's safer. But I won't let my cat stay with anybody else for Katie. Katie makes your animal feel like they are one of her family. My cat is very skittish and afraid of strangers. But not with Katie. She is absolutely the best! If you want the best than book with Katie!”

“Eric was awesome and super accomdating to us with timing even though our flight was delayed. We couldn't be more grateful for that and also knowing Papaya was in good hands during her stay. Papaya got along really well with Axl and Eric's family. We saw lots of pictures and a tired dog is always a good sign that she had tons of fun!”

“Christine did an amazing job taking care of my dog. She was very communicative throughout the entire process. From reaching out in the beginning to ask her availability, to picking him up a few days later, she was great about responding to texts very promptly but would also send lots of updates throughout my time away from him. It was great to see in pictures and videos that he was having a good time and being well taken care of. I would happily ask Christine again to take care of my dog and recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust to watch their pets”

“Patricia took great care of Tess for us! She was very communicative and send lots of updates. Tess came home happy and healthy! We would definitely ask Patricia to help us with Tess again”

“My dog sitter Fanny was wonderful! She was very communicative throughout the stay, which gave me peace of mind, and I could tell my puppy was in great hands. I would absolutely use her again”

“Darrilyn and her son took great care of our fur babies. She updated us with pictures and videos. She also followed our exact feeding schedule for our dogs. She treated Mia and Daisy as if they were hers. Thank you!”

Natalie was great with our dog while we were out of town. He got along great with her cats and we got plenty of pictures while we were gone of him living his best life looking relaxed and happy. We’d definitely book with Natalie again if she’s available next time we’re traveling!

It was so nice having Karen watch my dog, Libby. I really appreciated that she took the time to learn about Libby’s personality and did her best to keep her routine fun and as close to home as possible. Karen was kind, caring, and communicative throughout the stay, which gave me peace of mind. She was also very flexible with both dropoff and pickup times, and I really appreciated that. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!

Such a lovely family who warmly embrace all dogs and their needs. My dog - Clipper - had a wonderful couple of nights there. They were in touch with cute photos and updates and were extremely gracious and welcomed Clipper for an extra night when my flight home was cancelled. I’ll definitely rebook with Amanda and Anton!

Christine took amazing care of our dog Simon! She went above and beyond to make sure he was given lots of love, and was energized with daily walks and enrichment. She was very attentive to his needs and sent regular updates, putting our minds at ease to know he was in good hands and well cared for throughout his stay. Christine was the absolute best!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
