“Mary and her husband were very welcoming to my little guy Tazer. I felt totally comfortable with them and knew they would treat him well and they did. I only felt bad because Tazer was at her home for overnight boarding and he was having a restless night so no one got a good nights sleep. Despite this there were no complaints from Mary. I definitely recommend Mary as a sitter!”

“Gabriela and Richard were so kind and sweet with my toy poodle! They even took her on little adventures to get doggie ice cream and nice walks around the neighborhood, aside from plenty of outside time in their own fenced-in backyard! Gabriela was super great about texting updates and super cute pics of my girl! And they even got her to eat a good bit while I was away even though she usually tries to go on a hunger strike in my absence. Gabriela met us for like 15 mins at the local park before boarding and got to know my dog and garner some info from me, which I really appreciated and not a lot of boarders do that! My girl was very happy when I picked her up and I would absolutely rebook Gabriela and Richard! Highly recommend!”

“Mary has watched Patton twice now and every time she’s been absolutely wonderful. She communicates frequently, sends pictures daily, and has been very flexible with pick up and drop off timing. I’m extremely grateful for the peace of mind I have when she watches Patton. Would highly recommend :)”

“Lynda took good care of our 14-year-old girl while we were out of town for a week. Lulu immediately took to Lynda, which isn’t a given due to her advanced age. Lulu also has some age-related special needs. Lynda’s home is pretty ideal for accommodating a senior dog. Her backyard is fully fenced. Lulu was lucky to find Lynda and enjoyed her stay.”
“Izzy had another great stay. Huge thanks to Ingrida and her family. We were moving to a new home and had to change our stay at the last minute and we were a little flaky on drop off and pick up times. Ingrida was very accommodating. It is always hard to leave our little girl, but Ingrida always makes us feel at ease. Her services are wonderful.”
“Will was awesome and SO responsive to messages and sent cute videos and got our puppers a toy while my family and I went out of state! My tripod is a former street dog and can be reactive but Will was super patient with him. 100% would recommend!”

“Angelica is the nicest most sincere person I have met on Rover. It was my 2 dogs that were equally on a great vacation maybe even better than mine. The dogs have a ramp to their bed, other dogs to play with and a great environment to play and live. A+++. She also was extremely accommodating to our schedule and sent wonderful pictures. Will DEFINITELY use again.”

“Many thanks to Lyn and her family for the great care they provided for our 2 dogs (Joplin and Hampton) over this past weekend. Each is an 8-year-old male and skittish about being separated from us (we have never left them with anyone but close family members). Lyn made them feel right at home from the moment we entered her pet friendly home. She has a warm and engaging personality and seems knowledgeable and really, really loves dogs. The dogs warmed up to her immediately and we left them totally at ease, knowing they would be safe and happy while we were gone. We really appreciate how Lyn accommodated our constantly changing plans as we were attempting to go sailing with a very unpredictable weather pattern. Thanks to Lyn, we feel we can make any future plans and be confident our dogs will be well taken care of.”

“Christina’s family is so caring and loving! You can tell how much their kids enjoy hanging out with Milo and accepted him as part of the family. It’s so great to see how sweet their dog Brydie is too! I know he always has a great experience with Christina and her family 💗”

“Linda took great care of our dog while we were away for 5 nights. She was very responsive and easy to work with and sent a daily photo and update. Thank you, Linda!”

“Wayne was excellent! Very organized and professional with my dogs and his own. I received pics and videos every morning! Very satisfied with his communication and care for my doggie!”

“Robert did a great job with Tater. I loved the pic and video showing Tater playing with the other dogs and relaxing. He got a lot of love and cuddles while I was away. I am really happy to have connected with Robert and his dogs so quickly. It was the perfect match for Tater.”

“We had such a great experience with Shannon and her family. Initially nervous being this was the first time we boarded Cubbie. But our host gave us piece of mind- great communication, attentive to his needs, updated us with daily activities, sent pictures. Happy and grateful we have someone to count on for future boarding.”

“I try to always tip in cash. For some reason I don't know I just feel like it's safer. But I won't let my cat stay with anybody else for Katie. Katie makes your animal feel like they are one of her family. My cat is very skittish and afraid of strangers. But not with Katie. She is absolutely the best! If you want the best than book with Katie!”

“Courtney and her family always do such a great job taking care of our little guy and sending tons of photos. They were so wonderful and flexible with us on this last trip when our flight was delayed and we needed another night. Definitely our go-to sitter!”

“Rob was so great with our dog Rory! He was very attentive and sent along tons of great pictures and updates. She definitely had a great time at his house, playing in the yard, and snuggling on the couch. Thanks Rob!!”

“Brian was great. We had some anxiety leaving our dog in an unfamiliar place but Brian was wonderful with him and put our minds at ease. He asked questions and took notes on everything we told him during the meet and greet. He gave updates throughout our trip to show our dog was enjoying. We will definitely be using Brian again.”

“Patricia took amazing care of Zoey. She was great with sending us video and photo updates which gave us peace of mind. I highly recommend Patricia and look forward to having her watch Zoey again.”

Amberley and Matt were great to meet and work with for boarding our dog Stella. You do not always know in advance how your dog and other dogs will be compatible. We received daily updates of walks , acitivity , pics , and compatibility. Thanks Amberley and Matt for taking such good care of Stella while we were away. —- Peter

We just had our dog Frida stay with Iris for 6 days and could not be happier with the absolute best care Frida received. We are first timers with Rover and were a bit hesitant doing a service. Frida is an 8lb little dog and wanted someone who does one dog/family at a time and this is what Iris does. We were so happy to find this with Iris. Her whole family loved and cared for our Frida and we are so appreciative for this special and kind care. We 100% recommend Iris and definitely found a great pet sitter. Also, I like that Frida was never left alone the whole 6 days. I was afraid she wouldn't want to come home lol. Book with Iris!!!

Karin really came through for us and our pup on a last minute booking. After a meetup with her and her dog we determined that she would be a great fit to care for our little guy. Karin was responsive and sent photo updates regularly throughout the stay. This helped to put us at ease since it is a new puppy to us and a very young dog. Can’t recommend Karin enough and we are grateful to have found someone so close to us that we can hopefully use in the future! Thanks again!

Danielle was fantastic! Communication was great and Pete seemed to really enjoy his stay. I would 100% recommend Danielle’s services and I will for sure rebook for my next trip. It is so nice to know my dog is being well taken care of and loved as their own while I’m out of town!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
