“Jan was a dream dog sitter! Our elderly dog was comfortable and so carefully cared for under Jan’s care. She was responsive, flexible, communicative, and takes great pride in her individualized care of each dog she cares for. You can trust Jan- she is amazing!”

“As always Will is fantastic with Benni! With Benni being fully blind he takes care of him and loves him like it’s his own dog. This was the 2nd time that Benni was with Will and he seemed to have a blast. Thank you for caring for Benni!!”

“Darrilyn and her son took great care of our fur babies. She updated us with pictures and videos. She also followed our exact feeding schedule for our dogs. She treated Mia and Daisy as if they were hers. Thank you!”

“Just fantastic! Kasia and her mom took such great care of our sweet pooch. She was quick to communicate, accommodating of last minute plan changes, and, above all, attentive and kind to our dog. An overprotective dog mom, I will definitely ask Kasia again when we need a vacation home for our big guy in the future.”

“Yaritza is the best pet sitter ever! She took care of our puppy, she took her for walks everyday and share her puppy’s pool with our dog. We were out of town for 12 days and she sent me pictures and messages everyday. I definitely will use her services again.”

“Patricia took great care of Tess for us! She was very communicative and send lots of updates. Tess came home happy and healthy! We would definitely ask Patricia to help us with Tess again”

“Gabriela and Richard were so kind and sweet with my toy poodle! They even took her on little adventures to get doggie ice cream and nice walks around the neighborhood, aside from plenty of outside time in their own fenced-in backyard! Gabriela was super great about texting updates and super cute pics of my girl! And they even got her to eat a good bit while I was away even though she usually tries to go on a hunger strike in my absence. Gabriela met us for like 15 mins at the local park before boarding and got to know my dog and garner some info from me, which I really appreciated and not a lot of boarders do that! My girl was very happy when I picked her up and I would absolutely rebook Gabriela and Richard! Highly recommend!”

“Matt and Michelle are absolutely incredible dog people and people people! Genuinely so caring and loving, my dog makes herself right at home whenever she’s there. THANK YOU MATT AND MICHELLE FOR EVERYTHING!!”

“This was Daisy’s first stay with Joe but it won’t be her last! Joe clearly loves dogs and that gave us peace of mind on our vacation. We loved the photos and videos he shared with us. It was great to see Daisy enjoying herself with him. I have no hesitation in recommending Joe.”

“Once again, Michelle and her family took incredible care of Bilbo! They truly treat him like one of their own, and it brings so much peace of mind knowing he’s getting just as much love as he gives. The regular updates and photos keep me completely at ease while I'm away. We couldn't ask for a better sitter and cannot recommend Michelle highly enough!”

“Garrett and Paola are great dog sitters! This is the second time we had them watch our dog Daisy and I could tell she had so much fun! They took her on long walks, gave her lots of attention, and sent me many pictures. I appreciate the high level of care they provide to my Daisy.”

“Louie had a great time with Jo’Ell. She kept me updated on how Louie was doing and sent plenty of pictures and videos. I would definitely recommend her for your pet sitting needs.”

“Shirley is without a a doubt the best sitter we’ve ever had. It’s clear she truly cares about animals with her whole heart and treats every time she sits our pup as if he were her own. We keep coming back to Shirley again and again because of how easily she relieves us of any worry about how our pup is doing, and how happy he is to be with her while we’re gone. We highly recommend her for any type of service, and especially boarding in her home!”

“It’s never easy leaving your dog in someone else’s care, but Eileen made us feel like our pup was in good hands. She sent cute, daily updates and photos, and was communicative and reliable. I think our dog enjoyed his stay, and we would feel very comfortable leaving him with Eileen again. Thank you Eileen!”

“I am happy to have left my baby with Bonnie, I think she is a good caregiver, she was attentive at all times to my messages and the best of all for me is that they also speak my language. Her house is spacious and very beautiful with plenty of space for them to be comfortable, I think the family members are also very kind to babies, she is recommended!”

“Thomas is an amazing sitter, and communicating with him is very smooth. He sends me photos of my dog and keeps me updated on how he's doing. He was very patient waiting for me before I picked up Echo. I will continue to use him as a sitter in the future.”

“I’m soooo glad to find D’Artagnan here in Rover! My dog Elsa came home happy and tired! He sent me tons of photos and updates during the day and it just gave me peace of mind knowing my baby is having a blast with his dog Nike. Thank you and I am sure Elsa is looking forward to the next she stay with you guys!!!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ She was absolutely amazing with my three dogs! 🐶❤️ She is so sweet, kind, and loving, and you can immediately tell how much she genuinely loves animals. Kelly took care of my dog and cat, and she was seriously the best. She kept us updated with check ins, updates, and photos. She was so patient with my cat and was actually able to get him to come out and be with her, which has never happened before. You could tell she truly cares about animals and treats them as her own. I felt like I was actually able to relax knowing my babies were so well taken care of. Very grateful to find her!

Kasia was amazing with Bento! We were out of town for a couple of weeks, and she made it so much easier being away from him by sending regular videos and pictures to keep us updated. It was obvious he was happy, well cared for, and having a great time. We really appreciated all the communication and the care she gave him. We'll definitely be booking with Kasia again the next time we travel. Thank you for taking such great care of Bento!

Yolanda was incredibly responsible and caring while taking care of Aurora. She provided regular updates with photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. We would absolutely trust her with Aurora again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
