“I love Jonelle & her family! She is very nice, super accommodating, has great communication and genuinely loves animals! Dakota took to her immediately and I’m starting to think she’s sad that she’s back home! 😬 ! I cannot thank her enough for taking such good care of my big baby! ❤️”

“Sarah was absolutely amazing with Rocky! She treated him like he was part of her own family, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She stayed in constant communication, sent lots of pictures and updates, and it was clear from every message how much she genuinely cared about him. We never had to wonder how he was doing because she kept us informed every step of the way. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter and would gladly trust Sarah with Rocky again. Highly recommend!”

“Elva and her daughter were amazing hosts for our Lily. It was my first time using Rover and I was very nervous but she made it so easy and smooth. She was very prepared with bed, toys and everything that Lily needs. She sent me regular messages with adorable pictures. Elva is very caring and made sure Lily feels safe and comfortable. Lily loved her stay with Elva and her daughter and was very relaxed and happy there. I would certainly recommend Elva to anyone!”

“My dog Zoey stayed with Bob for five nights. He sent daily updates and and communicated well. I could tell Zoey had a blast from the pictures and videos he sent me. He even did some training work with her, and we are going to use him in the future!”

“Jasmine was amazing from the initial booking to the drop off & ALL throughout the 1st visit for my lil guy. The daily update with beautiful & happy photos were definitely a true testament to her quality of care, concern, & love displayed for my dog. I’ve already booked several more boarding stays to ensure confirmation! Thank you Jasmine for all that you for our lil B.!!”

“My bichon poodle could not have been happier to be around other small pups during her visit over spring break. Diana even gave my dog fresh dog food when my dog wasn’t eating at all. Seems like my pup was so happy during her stay! Will book again! Thanks Diana.”

“Tatiana was the best taking care of both pups. Tatiana came over to meet our dogs and they gravitated towards her calm and loving nature. Thank you for going above and beyond for us.”

“Jacob made this whole experience so easy, made us feel safe leaving our pet behind while on vacation, and we are confident that our Odie had such a good time! He is passionate about his clients and communicated with us the entire time. I would highly recommend leaving your precious pooch with him and feel great that they are being cared for and kept safe. Thank you Jacob for everything!”

“Connie was incredible! She was so sweet with Rocky, and great with communicating and sending updates/photos. I’ll definitely be using Connie the next time I’m out of town!”

About: I work from home and my job requires very little actual attention (fortunately). I have a lot of time to dedicate to a pet and the space for it too! I work from home full time, but my job requires very little actual attention so most of my time clocked in allows me to do other things. I am always home unless I have errands, the gym, or appointments to get to. Other than that, I frequently visit my local parks for walks during my break and after or before work! I have big backyard where pets can play and run around! My neighborhood is very walkable and I like to visit my local parks a lot too!

“Camile and her husband Joe are a lovely couple who work together to give the best care for your baby. They have a beautiful, clean home with a large, wonderful, fenced backyard. My elderly dog was treated like a little king...and he had a walk to the park every day. They do a stellar job!”

“Sophia and David did an amazing job taking care of our baby Bella. They continually keep us updated and they truly made her feel at home. We would certainly recommend their services to anyone.”

“Julia is an amazing sitter with a lot of experience. She took great care of Rupert and updated us regularly. She also paid attention to a mild injury he had above his eye. Would definitely recommend!”

“She’s a great person with a lot of pictures she kept me updated and give my baby much love I really appreciate you Great person for sure every time i come to Chicago i will oreo with her”
“Shirley was fabulous! She communicated with us many times a day and sent pictures regularly. Our dog was relaxed and very happy when we brought him home. Thank you Shirley!!”

“Roman was Charise’s first ever Rover dog and we were really happy to have connected with her for our 5-day trip. Charise was a great sitter—she sent detailed updates about how Roman was doing with Navi and hope he was settling in while we were away. Her home is very clean and Charise is a very warm and welcoming host. Navi is just the cutest little nugget ever, and I could tell immediately Roman would feel right at home with Charise. Our big GSD is a big baby and throws a bit of a fit every time we leave, but Charise and Navi were patient with him while he warmed up to the idea of us being away—by the time we returned, he was fully integrated into their little family. Roman is allowed on the couch and bed for cuddles, and Charise has a full basement for the dogs to run around and play, a small yard, and she takes them together on long walks. Roman came home fully pooped from a week of playing with Navi and we’ll definitely be using Charise in the future!”

“Mario did a great job caring for Benji while I was out of town. He sent wonderful photos and videos of Benji playing with his dogs. I will definitely be using him again to take care of my dog and would recommend him to everyone.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
