“Melissa is amazing! She kept me updated daily and even sent pictures!! I felt at ease knowing my pup was been very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend her!”

“Iris is fantastic! She is so attentive and caring, and she and her family gave our doggy so much love and TLC. Iris is a natural with dogs and ours can’t wait til she and her crew care for her again!”

“This was our second time leaving Maggie with Robert, and once again, it was a great experience. He sent regular updates with videos and pictures, which made it so easy to feel comfortable while we were away. Maggie got tons of playtime and socialization with the other pups, and she came home happy and tired. We really appreciate the care Robert gives her and will definitely book with him again in the future!”

“Lizabeth was absolutely wonderful with Pluto! From the moment I dropped him off until the moment I picked him up, she made me feel completely comfortable knowing he was in great hands. Her communication was excellent—she kept me updated on how Pluto was doing throughout my vacation and regularly sent pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind. It’s clear that she’s very knowledgeable about dogs and genuinely cares about the pets she watches. I highly recommend Lizabeth to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional sitter. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!”

“I try to always tip in cash. For some reason I don't know I just feel like it's safer. But I won't let my cat stay with anybody else for Katie. Katie makes your animal feel like they are one of her family. My cat is very skittish and afraid of strangers. But not with Katie. She is absolutely the best! If you want the best than book with Katie!”

“Matt and family were incredibly great to my pet, Peanut. Mine is a super nervous and shy cockapoo mix who is on anti-anxiety medication. The family was welcoming and understanding. They followed all our recommendations to keep peanut comfy and even gave him a soft fur blanket to make him feel home. They took him out for plenty of walks even during those freezing days. Bless their heart! They shared plenty of pictures and kept us updated about peanut. It was nice to see my peanut hanging out with their pets pepper and peanut. They are wonderful people and an amazing family that truly loves dogs!”

“Kim took such great care of Ashland. She updated us with Ashland's status with photos and messages periodically so we could see how she was doing. I would definitely have Kim watch her again without any worries or concerns.”

“Excellent hosts! The communication was top notch. I received daily updates with a photo of my dog. I was completely comfortable leaving my dog in their charge. My dog had a positive experience with Amanda and Anton. I definitely would book again with this pet loving family!”

“Yolanda was incredibly responsible and caring while taking care of Aurora. She provided regular updates with photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. Aurora had a wonderful time and even got along well with the other cat in the home. It was obvious that Yolanda truly cares about the pets she watches. We would absolutely trust her with Aurora again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter.”

“Lauriann and Sven were wonderful sitters! They sent pictures and updates every day. They made sure my Shar-Pei mix felt comfortable through the rain and fireworks, which she can get anxiety about. I felt so safe leaving her in their care and I would definitely book them again.”

About: I've taken care of pets ever since I was a kid. When I was in high school, my family hosted dogs of all sizes, including one of my favorites, a Burnese Mountain Dog named Ruby. Lately I've had the chance to watch my brother's two dogs (as seen in my bio pics) when he travels. I work a semi-active full time job over the week, with plenty of energy to spare when I'm not working. I am fully available over the weekends from Friday evening straight through to Sunday! I also am free on weekdays for walks or drop-ins as long as it's before 7:30 am or after 5 pm. Your dog will stay in a cozy, smoke-free condo where they are welcome on the furniture and bed. While I don't have a yard, I love taking long, frequent walks around the neighborhood. For their comfort and safety, I host one family at a time and ask that owners provide the dog's preferred bed or crate if possible
“Maricela was absolutely wonderful! Sent regular updates about my babies and helped me feel better about leaving them. Absolutely wonderful person and would recommend her to anybody! She is a wonderful dog caregiver.”

“I recommend Britanny a million times. From drop off to pickup she was very communicative sending pictures almost every day. She babied him and showed him love. My pup couldn’t have been in better hands. A+++ experience. Thank you Britanny and family.”

“Angel was amazing! I was nervous at first as I had never had someone watch my dogs in their home but it was the best decision I could have made. She was kind, communicative and sent me pictures of them throughout my trip. Her home is spotless and spacious and the yard is perfectly set up for dogs. I would recommend her to anyone and will absolutely be using her again in the future! I can’t thank her enough for the great care she took of my dogs!”

“Brian was so great watching our pup Mowgli! We felt comfortable knowing Mowgli was in good hands, Brian provided regular updates and great communication. As this was our first time leaving Mowgli with a sitter we were so glad to find Brian! Highly recommend!”

“Great place for our Bingo to stay ☺️. She was very spoiled by everyone in the house and had play buddies around the clock. Bonnie and her family made sure Bingo felt at home. Loved the daily updates and to know she was playing with the others dogs. Definitely will ask Bonnie to take care of Bingo next time ?”

“Melissa went above and beyond to care for Pancake! Pancake was like a kid at summer camp having the best time of her life, playing with all her new best friends and doing all sorts of fun new activities. Melissa’s family also went out of their way to play with her, give her walks, and even pup cups! They did an excellent job cleaning Pancake (even her bully face wrinkles) which Pancake typically is not a fan of😂. Can’t wait to have Pancake come back here again! THANK YOU! ❤️”

“I had a wonderful experience with Mary! They were attentive, reliable, and genuinely cared for my furry friend. My dog seemed happy and well cared for when we returned. I appreciated the regular updates and photos, which gave me peace of mind during the time away. I highly recommend her services and will definitely use Mary again in the future.”

Amberley did a great job watching my dog, Herbie! She sent plenty of updates throughout his stay, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. When Herbie wasn't interested in eating his dog food, she even took the time to make him some chicken to make sure he ate. It was clear that she genuinely cared about him and treated him like her own. I would definitely book with Amberley again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.

Karin really came through for us and our pup on a last minute booking. After a meetup with her and her dog we determined that she would be a great fit to care for our little guy. Karin was responsive and sent photo updates regularly throughout the stay. This helped to put us at ease since it is a new puppy to us and a very young dog. Can’t recommend Karin enough and we are grateful to have found someone so close to us that we can hopefully use in the future! Thanks again!

Danielle was fantastic! Communication was great and Pete seemed to really enjoy his stay. I would 100% recommend Danielle’s services and I will for sure rebook for my next trip. It is so nice to know my dog is being well taken care of and loved as their own while I’m out of town!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
