“Claudia came for overnights in my home with my one year puppy and older cat. She did a great job making friends with both. Came home to two happy animals. Would highly Recommend”

About: My name is Lauren and currently reside in Elmhurst. I am looking for pet walking jobs (or jogging) or pet sitting jobs to help supplement my income, but I also genuinely just love being around dogs. My family has had pets my entire life and I have lots of experience walking and providing care for animals. Big dogs, little dogs, rabbits, cats and even guinea pigs. I have experience raising Guide Dogs through the New Zealand Blind Foundation as well as Leader Dogs for the Blind in Michigan. I was a volunteer at the Boulder Humane Society in Colorado in my undergraduate days so I am used to all breeds/types of dogs. If you’re looking for a dog sitter or the occasional dog walk - I’d love to meet you and your pup.
“Maddie was just what our family needed. She is responsible and a good communicator- our two Goldens really felt relaxed around her and she gave them really good care. Maddie even got our one storm-phobic dog through two Thunderstorms and they had all their needs met. We felt completely at ease being out of town and leaving Maddie in charge.”

“Ashley was fantastic! She housesat for our two pups who don’t do well being alone. She gave them lots of attention and treats. She sent many updates and was very communicative the entire time. She followed all of our instructions and made sure the dogs were taken care of. She was great to work with throughout the entire process of coordinating a meet and greet and confirming all of the details for sitting in advance. We would absolutely use Ashley again!”

“Beatriz was a breath of fresh air. She took great care of Sophie and attended to all of her needs. She sent pictures and texted regularly. I will definitely be using her in the future.”

“This is the first time we booked a House Sitting through Rover so we were a little nervous entrusting our two dogs and home to someone's care. From the time we met Elizabeth (Betsy), she alleviated our concerns. She is a gentle, kind and compassionate soul who immediately built rapport with us and our two beloved dogs. While we were away, Betsy, continually provided updates, including videos and pictures of our dogs. Betsy provided a caring and nurturing environment for our dogs, as well as took great care and respect of our home. I HIGHLY recommend Betsy to anyone who is considering a dog sitter. We will utilize Betsy for all of our dog care needs. She is the ultimate professional!”

“Maria did a wonderful job taking care of Hazel and my two cats. She sent lots of pictures and daily updates, which allowed me to enjoy my vacation and not worry about my pets. Thank you!!”

“Destiny is so kind and professional. I felt so safe with her watching my dog. She sent updates at the end of the day to let me know that all was well which helped my anxiety. I would highly recommend!”

“This was Grace's first time watching Maisy at my apartment while I had an out-of-town trip for a night. Maisy took to Grace immediately at the meet-and-greet and was excited to see her again when it came time for my night away. Grace was understanding about my one-key situation and was accommodating for meeting to exchange the keys at the beginning and end of her time with Maisy. Grace was gentle on my apartment and sent me a few updates while I was away. Everything seemed to go smoothly! I'm a nervous dog-mom, so it takes quite a bit to win my assurances.”
“Dylan was a lifesaver when we had another cancellation at the last minute. He was professional and great with our senior pup. We'd definitely work with him again.”

“Joanna was great! So sweet with my clingy dogs! Kept me updated throughout my trip and my dogs love her. She’s extremely knowledgeable about dogs and that put me at ease instantly. It was a great experience- I definitely recommend!”

“Ellie did a fantastic job taking care of our leash reactive pit bull and ornery old lady cat while we were out of town. She was professional and communicative, and she left our pets calm and happy and our apartment spotless. Would definitely book again!”

“The best choice could make to trust them with my Sofy and house!! Came last night and thanks to them that keep me posted all the time with pictures, really enjoy vacations knowing all good:). Really recommend them!!!!”

“We had Cheryl watch our senior dog, who had only ever been left overnight with family before, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and put my mind at ease right away. She took such great care of our dog and kept us consistently updated, which meant so much to us. We could not be happier with the experience and will definitely be using Cheryl again in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Monica is an outstanding sitter! I was in the hospital having a baby and was experiencing so much stress finding a trustworthy person to watch my senior pit bull in my home. He cannot be boarded or crated. My dog has separation anxiety and Monica knew how to calm him because of her experience working at a vet. Unexpectedly, my daughter needed to stay in the hospital and Monica was flexible and understanding. You are a life saver! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking great care of my dog-son.”

“Would give 10 stars if we could!! Gem did an amazing job connecting with our dog. She is very communicative, sent the cutest pictures of our baby, and clearly has a great love for pets. We’re so glad to have found her and will happily continue trusting her with our dog <3”

“We had a great experience with Marisol! She was very responsive, accepted our booking on short notice, and took wonderful care of our puppy in our home. She was respectful of our house, left everything neat and clean, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. Most importantly, Finley seemed happy, comfortable, and well cared for when we returned. We would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Addison
Betsy was an outstanding pet/house sitter. She communicates clearly, is exceptionally responsible and trustworthy, and brings a great deal of experience. She took care of my 2 year old cat, and it was so clear to me that her interest in animals is sincere and has been lifelong. She warmed up to my cat immediately. And her care of my home demonstrated the same level of professionalism: meticulous and respectful. Very happy to have found this remarkable person!

Meghan was wonderful. This was our first experience with a house sitter and she made the process smooth and worry-free, and took great care of our cat and 6-month old puppy. Communication was easy and clear. We could tell at our initial meet-and-greet that she was an experienced and thoughtful animal caretaker. Our cat can be picky and took to Meghan well, and our pup got lots of engaging walks and playtimes. Thanks Meghan!

Casey is fantastic. She took great care of our three dogs and one cat. She checked in every morning and evening to let me know, they had had their breakfast and dinner, and she sent photos every day. When I got home everyone seemed very comfortable and happy - not at all concerned that I had been gone.

Catherine took great care of our persnickety pets, including our elderly dog and feisty cat. She was a very kind and conscientious houseguest as well which is much appreciated! So grateful to have someone we can trust to care for our babies so well when we travel!

We got so lucky with Jessemy! He was amazing with our two clowns. Loved getting pictures and videos of them. I appreciated how patient he was with Taco since he does have separation anxiety but otherwise they are both sweet boys. We will definitely will be reaching out to Jessemy again when he need someone to take care of our babies! He genuinely cares about your babies and your honey. Very kind!

As of August 2026, there are 8,292 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Addison. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Addison walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Addison maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Addison choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Addison. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
