About: I’ve taken care of up to 4 dogs at a time. I’ve had 6 years of experience. I have taken care of senior dogs, aggressive dogs, and easy dogs. I have always been a dog person and love taking care of them! I will make sure your animals feel loved and safe when you are away. I am currently taking a break from a full time job to take care of my mom who recently had a stroke. My schedule is pretty open, and I will be able to work around taking care of her. I have a fenced yard for my dog. He is aggressive and pulls on walks but we are working on it and I am capable of making sure he still gets out for walks, I am in shape so this makes it possible for me to do. As far as in my clients home, I make sure to meet with them first before showing up to dog sit. I find this to be helpful. Of course this isn’t required but I am open to that. My main goal is to make sure the pets are feeling safe and happy when their owners are away. I take safety very seriously. Examples include making sure they don’t get into anything, and that they are secured both on walks and outside in the yard. I have never had a situation with dogs having to go to vet or getting out.

Michael watched our dog while we took a trip out of the country and did an amazing job! He stayed in constant contact with updates on our dog and went above and beyond. We will certainly use him again for our next trip when we are away. Our son loved seeing all the videos and photos of our dog Michael sent. It was very comforting knowing she was in such great heads. Very pleased with our experience. I would highly recommend him to watch your pet when you are away.

We were contemplating on how our 2 dogs were going to be taken care of while we were on vacation for 4 days. We have a 9 year old Dachshund and a 4 month old German Shepherd and were skeptical of boarding them in a kennel due to the fact that we didn’t want to put that stress on a puppy. We usually have a family member stay at the house to care for the dogs while we are gone for a long period of time, but we didn’t have this option during this time. We came across Rover and said to ourselves, “Let’s meet a sitter and see what happens”. We came across Carolyn and chose her because of her background working with animals. When we met her, we knew instantly we liked her and our 2 dogs enjoyed her. So we moved forward with booking her and when we returned back from our trip, our 2 dogs were happy and well taken care of! We’ll definitely be using Carolyn in the future!

About: I’ve always grown up with animals and had to be very responsible at a young age for crate schedules, feeding times, play times. Etc. My dog back in my hometown was my pride and joy but since I moved I also do miss that bond every now and then w a furry companion. Part time server / bartender and just needed some extra work but also something that I enjoy doing. Who doesn’t love spending time w fur babies?!? I do have a smaller apartment so smaller animals preferred when it comes to boarding within my own home. Very respectful for other people’s homes and will do whatever is necessary to make sure the home and animals are both taken care of.

About: I know the feeling of standing at the door with your suitcase, looking back at your pet, wondering if they’ll be okay. My job is to make sure that the moment you close that door, you stop worrying. Here’s why you can: my cat Wall-E came to me feral. He trusted no one. Today he walks on a leash, comes when I call him, and asks for cuddles. That’s the skill I bring to every animal in my care, cat or dog: reading body language, respecting fear instead of pushing through it, and letting your pet set the pace. Shy, anxious, reactive, or “difficult with strangers” pets aren’t difficult to me. Trust earned slowly is the kind that lasts. Your pet won’t be squeezed between errands. I work from home, so animal care is already the shape of my mornings and evenings. Drop-in visits, midday potty breaks and check-ins, walks, daily feeding schedules, and extended stays all fit naturally into my day. The details matter to me because they matter to your pet. Exact feeding routines, portion sizes, prescription diets, the walking route your dog knows, the bowl that has to be in that one spot: I follow your instructions to the letter, not approximately. Litter boxes are scooped every visit, yards are checked, and I pay attention while I do it, because changes in appetite or bathroom habits are often the first sign something’s off. You know your pet best. My job is to keep their world exactly the way you built it. And if the worst-case scenario in your head ever became real: I’m CERT emergency-response trained through our village police department. I handle medications, supplements, and senior-pet health monitoring calmly and precisely. You’d have someone who acts first and panics never. You’ll never have to wonder how it’s going. Daily photos and videos come standard, and every stay ends with a personalized touch. I run my own business from home, giving me flexible availability throughout the day. I can accommodate drop-in visits, daily feeding schedules, and extended sitting arrangements. My routine already includes dedicated pet care time morning and evening, so your cat will fit naturally into my day. My home is a cat-friendly environment where my two well-socialized cats live. I’m experienced with managing multi-cat introductions if boarding is needed. For in-home visits, I follow detailed care instructions and send photo updates so you always know your pet is happy and safe. I’m also experienced with administering supplements and monitoring health needs.

I have definitely had the variety of critters, including fish! I am currently available any day during the week besides Wednesdays, at any time! Julianna did an unbelievable job watching our huskies while we were away. She stayed in great touch with daily photos and catered to all their needs. On top of taking such good care of the dogs, she even cleaned up all the extra fur from Aurora shedding so we came home to a clean house. We're so thankful for her help and will absolutely be reaching out to her next time!

I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! My dog got really sick in the days leading up to my trip and was prescribed medication, so I was nervous about leaving him. Having a professional Vet Tech care for him gave me so much peace of mind. She was able to administer his medication, monitor how he was doing, and make sure his needs were being met throughout my trip. She also sent me lots of updates, along with pictures and videos, which made being away so much easier. I always felt comfortable knowing he was in such caring and capable hands. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and knowledgeable sitter. I will definitely be asking her to watch my dog again in the future! 🐾❤️

Susan was absolutely amazing with my pups. She stayed overnight 4 nights at my house. She even let them sleep in my bed with her as that is what they are used to do. Sent pictures and communications. My house was left in perfect order and my pups were relaxed and happy when I returned. I would definitely recommend Susan and will use her again when the occasion allows. I am a very happy camper 😊😊

FAQs for House Sitting - Elk Grove Village

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Elk Grove Village on Rover is $50 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 8,231 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elk Grove Village. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elk Grove Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elk Grove Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elk Grove Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elk Grove Village. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
