“Grant and Annika did great with our senior dog and puppy. They are both rescues and nervous boys and require some specific attention including medication administration. They took care of our home and we came home to clean sheets and a house that was cleaner than we left it.”

About: I’ve taken care of up to 4 dogs at a time. I have 6 years of experience. I have taken care of senior dogs, aggressive dogs, and easy dogs. I have always been a dog person and love taking care of them! I will make sure your animals feel loved and safe when you are away. I am currently taking a break from a full time job to take care of my mom who recently had a minor stroke. My schedule is pretty open, and I will be able to work around taking care of her. I have a fenced yard for my dog. He is aggressive and pulls on walks but we are working on it and I am capable of making sure he still gets out for walks, I am in shape so this makes it possible for me to do. As far as in my clients home, I make sure to meet with them first before showing up to dog sit. I find this to be helpful. Of course this isn’t required but I am open to that. My main goal is to make sure the pets are feeling safe and happy when their owners are away. I take safety very seriously. Examples include making sure they don’t get into anything, and that they are secured both on walks and outside in the yard. I have never had a situation with dogs having to go to vet or getting out.
“Keri took great care of Benny! She stayed overnight and left the house clean. Keri gave updates and pictures along the way. We’ll definitely request her care for our big pup again soon.”

“Renee was awesome. She took care of our 2 dogs at our home while we were away. Our doggies loved her! She’ll be our first one to contact whenever the same situation occurs again. A million thanks to her!”

“Gavin took care of our three dogs while we were away for a few days. He made sure they were fed, let outside, and cared for during our trip. We appreciate the time and effort he put into looking after our pups and helping us while we were out of town.”

“Beatriz did a wonderful job taking care of my boy. She had her hands full with him not feeling well. She responded quickly to all my check ins and kept me updated. I'm so happy I found someone that is willing to come stay in my home and care for him. Will be using her again. Thank you!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Tania! She took such good care of all three of our dogs and left our home clean and well cared for. She was responsive, communicative, and kept us updated with regular messages, photos, and videos which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely book with Tania again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Olivia was great with my energetic dogs! She made sure to exercise and spend time with dogs as well as take the time to understand their needs. She was also a great at providing updates and pictures through her stay.”

About: I have owned a cat/cats, for over 40 years. I have cared for and loved them more than they know. I love having animals in my life. I am a retired veterinary technician so you have no worries. I’m a newer dog owner. Charley is only my second dog but I have been around dogs since I was a child. Once again I have vet tech experience so I can help you not worry while you’re away. I am a homemaker and have all the time in the world to love your babies. Please give me the opportunity to spoil your little ones. I feed my babies twice daily and love them all day. I would gladly do the same for you. My time is yours to utilize.
“Melissa took care of our three babies. Our dog Pita is a bit high maintenance due to her allergies. Melissa was patient and provided excellent care. Dewey, our youngest cat is very shy. It usually takes a while for him to warm up to new people. He had no problem getting to know Melissa within minutes. She gave our other cat Boogie lots of love and attention as well. We definitely will ask Melissa to stay with Pita, Boogie and Dewey the next time we go away. We cannot thank her enough!”
“Skyler was awesome! She communicated well and responded quickly. Augie loved playing and spending time with her. We would definitely recommend Skyler and use her again. Thank you!!”

About: I’ve raised two German Shepherds for 10 years and genuinely love dogs. I’m dependable, active, patient, and committed to treating every dog like family. I’m a part-time worker, so my flexible schedule allows me to provide reliable walks and care throughout the week, including weekdays and weekends. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’m dependable, honest, and respectful of your home. My military experience adds extra trust, responsibility, and peace of mind.

About: I feel strongly about the human animal-bond and I believe your pets deserve the best care possible! My experience goes back to childhood since I've had cats and dogs my whole life. I've watched neighbors' and friends' pets while they were out of town and even watched a friend's horses while she was on vacation. I walked dogs at Anderson Animal Shelter (now Anderson Humane) as a kid. I worked for a pet sitting company for a little over a year in 2020. That year I also began school to become a certified veterinary technician. After two years taking classes full time and completing two externships I became a CVT. My schooling did include kennels- aka walking, cleaning up after and caring for the rescued dogs and cats we learned on (they were adopted out at the end of each semester). I also have helped with pets who were boarding at veterinary offices. I can do medical treatments on your fur baby if necessary. I am open to watching exotic pets. I have a huge admiration for spicy cats. I am your person for house sitting and drop in visits. I will be using Rover for part time work but I do have flexible availability! I have stepped away from full time work all together for the foreseeable future. I am a morning person and I would love to spend some time outside with your pup whatever the weather may be. I enjoy walking outside even in zero degree weather! I am happy to accommodate any routine you need for your fur babies. Greeting your pet is important, especially if I am new to them. I will give them food and water and clean dishes as advised by you. I will take them for a walk or outside to play and go potty depending on what they are up for. If you need pills or treatments or any kind to be administered I can absolutely do that. I will treat your pet, your home and belongings with the utmost respect and responsibility.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Glendale Heights
Jed was very good with both our girls. He was attentive wasn’t pictures and cleaned up after himself. I would recommend him to stay with any type animal. The girls were calm and seemed very well taken care of. We will ask to have him stay again on the future of needed😊

Maria was OUTSTANDING!! She was an excellent communicator, great with our pets, friendly, professional, and went well out of her way to go above and beyond with our home and pets. She made us feel very comfortable to be away for so long knowing she was treating our home and pets like her own! We cannot believe how thoughtful and kind she was to us. Thank you!

Grant and Annika did great with our senior dog and puppy. They are both rescues and nervous boys and require some specific attention including medication administration. They took care of our home and we came home to clean sheets and a house that was cleaner than we left it.

Katherine was wonderful with my 2 year old active dog/puppy. She made sure to walk her and played with her in the yard. Katherine sent just enough updates and pictures. I felt totally comfortable having her stay in my home. She left the place clean and left Clementine happy.
Gianna was reliable, considerate, caring towards our puppy! She left our house as clean as we left it. Everything went smoothly. She really spent quality time with our dog, playing and getting his exercise in. He's been sleeping a lot since we got home. She really tired him out! We feel so much more comfortable getting a weekend away knowing Gianna cared for our dog and house as her own. Highly recommend!! Hoping to book her for future trips!

We had the absolute best experience with Michaela and truly can’t recommend her enough. We were out of town for our wedding, and knowing our two dogs were in such caring, capable hands gave us so much peace of mind. She went above and beyond in every way—taking our dogs on runs to keep them active and happy, sending us frequent pictures and videos so we could stay connected, and even taking the time to vacuum and keep our home clean while we were away. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch, especially during such a busy and meaningful time in our lives. It’s clear how much she genuinely cares, not just about pets but about the people they’re helping, too. We came home to two very happy, well-exercised dogs and a spotless house. We are so grateful and would absolutely trust her again without hesitation!

Jeremiah watched my dogs for several days while I was away on vacation and did a great job. He got along well with the dogs and was quick to respond. I would defintely have him sit for me again and recommend him to anyone looking for someone to watch their dogs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 8,258 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Glendale Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glendale Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glendale Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glendale Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
