“What a wonderful experience this was for my elderly kitty, who was so well cared for. I've never seen her adjust so quickly. Thank you, Phyllis, for taking such good care of my kitty. Definitely recommend!!”

“Shirley is without a a doubt the best sitter we’ve ever had. It’s clear she truly cares about animals with her whole heart and treats every time she sits our pup as if he were her own. We keep coming back to Shirley again and again because of how easily she relieves us of any worry about how our pup is doing, and how happy he is to be with her while we’re gone. We highly recommend her for any type of service, and especially boarding in her home!”

“Adriana was great! I left my pup for the first time ever for several days with her. She was so great in keeping me updated on his well being and he even got to make new friends! She’s also very accommodating. I definitely plan on having my pup stay with her when needed.”

“Quandra is the best! I sometimes worry about Filo because he can be anxious and has a specific diet for his reflux but Quandra followed all instructions for a smooth stay and he genuinely was happy to be there. Thank you so much Quandra! Will definitely be having Filo stay with her again!”

“This was our first time boarding Bowser, our baby Doberman, so I was a bit nervous, but Darrilyn was wonderful. She communicated with us throughout his stay and was fully prepared with extra supplies we’d forgotten. It was such a relief knowing he was in caring, capable hands. Highly recommend her!”

“Danielle was just AWESOME! Our pup was so well taken care of and had a blast with the other pups too! Danielle gave us great updates and pictures each day that we were away. We have had a couple of sitters on Rover and Danielle is by far the best! We will definitely be booking with her from now on!*”

“My original dog sitter notified me she was sick with Covid the day I was supposed to drop my dog off. I was in a bind to try to find someone. Frances was wonderful and so responsive during the entire booking process, seamless drop off/pickup and sent me updates throughout the stay. I will be booking again for a future trip and highly recommend her!”
“Denise is an excellent pup caregiver! She is knowledgeable about dog care and did execptionally well with our puppymill rescue Maggie who is usually very timid and shy. Maggie took to Denise right away and was kissing her hand and going to her for pets and ear rubs during our meet and greet. Maggie's tale was wagging in the update photos sent and she ate and took her meds without any issues. I highly recommend Denise and will definitely use her again!”

“Amazing! Highly recommend Connie. She sent me pictures of Bruno and also has a amazing fenced backyard. Her dog was also adorable and got along with Bruno really well.”

“Susan was amazing to my baby. She sent pictures everyday and she was 24/7 with him. She responds pretty fast, follows instructions and is super kind. Definitely will rebook if i need a sitter for my dog. 💯”

“Nimbus had a great time, they went on daily 2mile walks and got a lot of attention and cuddles. We were sent daily photos/videos with updates during our time away which made the separation more bearable. Would definitely plan to use Mary again!”

“Heather ended up taking care of Dempsey an extra day after our flight back to Chicago was cancelled. She was quick to respond and helped make a stressful situation a little easier to manage. She took great care of Demps while we were out of town. Thank you!!”

“Erica took fabulous care of my Duke. She treated him like he was her own dog. I truly appreciated how responsive she was when I would check in to see how the day was going. I would highly recommend Ericka and will be using her again.”

“Our lively viszla pup had a great time with Elise. She was very responsive and caring in the lead up to his stay, and we even had a meet and greet beforehand to ensure we could pass on all instructions… He was well exercised and well loved during the eight days or so that we were gone. We received lots of photos, and he came back with some excellent manners.”

“Laina and Bill were exactly what we AND Thor needed during our time away! They gave us the perfect amount of updates and we never felt any stress. We really appreciated being able to drop Thor off for a few hours a couple times prior to our trip to get acclimated before his visit. They also followed every detailed instruction (I’m crazy so there were a lot) perfectly. We really couldn’t be happier for his and our experience and we will be back!”

“Jill and Nick and their family were great. I got many updates and Niko came back healthy and happy! They have a fantastic yard and their dog Charlotte tolerated Nikos energy. We will definitely use them again!”

“When Ashley began to look in the bag I brought for Stella, she immediately noticed there was cheese in Stella's food bag and she offered to refrigerate it. I was impressed that she noticed that detail! As soon as I put Stella down, one of her dogs wanted to play, as did Ashley's adorable son! And Stella was ready! She came home exhausted! Slept all day. I can only imagine this means she has a great time playing at Ashley's house, and I am sure that was the case. I interviewed several dog sitters and Ashley and her husband was a household that impressed me. I will definitely use them again! Thanks, Ashley!”

“We couldn't be happier with Kim taking care of our little one. We loved the communication and photo's throughout her stay. She came home happy and healthy, and we were extremely comfortable that Kim was prepared for all things "dogs". She has a great strengthen in training, and we are already scheduling her again before someone else does for our next trip!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Downers Grove
Normally I would leave my pups with family members but none were available so I went with Maureen. I made the right choice. Maureen came to meet my two older girls so we could discuss all concerns, including some recent medical needs. When I dropped them off Maureen made them feel comfortable and they settled in nicely. If the need arrives in the future I won’t hesitate to use her again.
Jean and Al were wonderful pet sitters for Gus and Stella during our 10-day vacation. We felt completely at ease knowing they were being cared for so well. Gus is a special needs dog and needs extra attention, including medication, and Jean and Al went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, cared for, and had everything he needed. They also sent us photos of both dogs every day, which we really appreciated. It was obvious from the pictures that Gus and Stella were relaxed, happy, and getting plenty of love from Jean, Al, and their family. When we picked them up, both dogs seemed happy and completely comfortable, which told us everything we needed to know. We’re very grateful for the care they gave Gus and Stella and would absolutely use them again the next time we travel.

Michaela was great with Kylo. We appreciated having a meet and greet as we had never boarded him before and were not sure how he would do. She was great with him and he was able to settle in after the first full day. She was understanding of our nervousness and kept us updated on how he was doing. Definitely recommend her and will use her again if we have the need.
Once again Jo’Elle knocked it out the park! Jo’Elle is a top notch sitter! We have no problem leaving Aggie with her. Jo’Elle is caring, accommodating and an all around amazing pup sitter! We’ve left Agatha with her several times through out the years, and will not hesitate to do it again! Thank you Jo’Elle!

Denise is an excellent pup caregiver! I highly recommend Denise and will definitely use her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
