“I’d give Ashton 10/5 stars if I could… this was my first time booking with her and I honestly could not be more impressed with her updates, communication, and problem solving. Thank you, thank you, Ashton!”

“John was wonderful with our energetic boxer puppy! I highly recommend him. When we came home, she greeted us with excitement and love as usual. Then she ran around our house looking for her new friend, John!”

“Stephanie did a wonderful job taking care of my two cats. My fountain unfortunately broke during the period she was pet sitting, but she managed a workaround and made sure my cats had everything they needed. Pleasant person to interact with. Highly recommend.”

“Our puppies love Isabel. She has become a guardian angel for our furry babies. We travel often and use her services each and every time. Without her caring spirit and love for our dogs, we wouldn’t be able to travel the way we do.”

“Evan is the absolute BEST pet sitter we have had! She is so caring and truly has a love for animals, as evidenced by her detailed and humorous notes at every visit and how happy our two dogs and cat are upon our return. Highly recommend Evan!!”

“Rachel is amazing! She takes great care of my dog and takes great pictures. It is way below freezing out and she still went out with my dog. She writes great messages. I will definitely use her again.”

“Joan checked in on my three cats while I was out of town for a week, and completely eased my mind with her daily reports and photos!! Highly communicative and I will definitely be booking her again in the future.”

“Dana was so wonderful with our kitty! It was our first time leaving him alone while we went out of town and we were a little nervous because he’s very shy around new people. By her second visit with him it was clear he was perfectly comfortable and so happy to see her. Dana sends many pictures and gives you thorough updates with each visit, so you know your baby is safe and happy. She cares very much about each animal she takes on, and you can tell! Highly recommend her!”

“I am very happy and impressed with Ashley. She took great care of my cat and fish. I really appreciate that she also played with my cat and washed his food dishes. I highly recommend Ashley!”

“Sarah made our first Rover experience feel incredibly seamless and comfortable. We normally have family watch our fur babies, so trusting someone new was a little nerve-wracking for us, but she gave us so much peace of mind throughout the visit. We really appreciated all of the updates, pictures, and guidance she gave us. She followed instructions thoughtfully, communicated clearly, and it genuinely seemed like both of our girls were comfortable with her. She was patient, attentive, and very respectful of our home. We’d absolutely book with Sarah again and are so grateful for the care she gave our girls.”

About: I have spent my life caring for others—as a registered nurse, mom, and lifelong animal lover. My nursing background has taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to provide calm, compassionate care, which I bring to every pet I meet. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and comfort level. Whether your pup needs long walks, playtime, extra cuddles, medication reminders, or just a calm and reassuring presence while you’re away, I will care for them like part of my own family. I have owned dogs for 30 years...chihuahuas, terriers, a beagle, lab and Aussie mixes. I’m especially comfortable with pets who need a little extra attention, including puppies learning routines, shy or anxious dogs who need patience, and senior pets who may require gentler care. My goal is always to make your dog feel safe, loved, and happy—and give you peace of mind knowing they’re in caring hands. As a school nurse, I have a flexible summer schedule that allows me to spend lots of time at home providing attentive, personalized care. I’m available for walks, playtime, cuddles, and keeping your dog’s normal routine as consistent as possible while you’re away. Safety, trust, and comfort are always my top priorities. As a registered nurse, I understand the importance of being attentive and dependable. In my home, pets are treated like part of the family with a calm, loving environment, plenty of attention, supervised play, walks, and time to relax. I make sure dogs have a safe space to feel comfortable and follow their usual routines as closely as possible.
“Velvet did an amazing job for us. We have a cat who recently started wearing diapers, and she handled him very well. Our other cat is very shy around new people, but she even came out for Velvet sometimes. I would definitely use her as a sitter again.”
“Sam took great care of our pups during a drop in visit and gave a detailed update with plenty of pictures. She’s understanding of and attentive to the different needs of each dog in her care. Couldn’t ask for anything more!”

“Britt was awesome and took great care of the dogs during her time there. It was a short notice for this booking and knowing the dogs were well taken care of while I was gone allowed me to have a great time away, all thanks to Britt. I was provided with updates during every visit and cannot say enough good things about her! Will 100% be booking with her for all my dog sitting needs”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I've been able to drive, along with owning dogs all my life! I enjoy taking them on walks, playing with them and comforting them when their owners are away! I also volunteer at the Weat Suburban Humane Society! I'm pretty flexible with hours, Mondays and Tuesdays are the only days of the week that I can't walk dogs during the day, however late afternoon still works! I have extra leashes, harnesses and creates if needed, but will treat anything with respect and care as if it were mine own. I'm flexible to a range of schedules and dog personalities

About: I’ve grown up and taken care of dogs ever since I was little. I would say I’m knowledgeable on dog training and have a lot of experience with all different types of dogs. I love to walk and pet pups so hopefully we can be good match!! I’m currently working part-time in the afternoon (3-6) so I have lots of free time to check in or walk your pet. I have owned Goldens my entire life so training a high-energy dog is something I’m experienced in. I’m all about creating a safe and enriching environment for dogs, so I’m open to adapting to your pets daily routine.

About: I’ve grown up caring for all sorts of animals. I also foster cats/kittens and a dog. I also volunteer and work with both cats and dogs at my designated shelters so I have experience working with different sizes and temperaments. I have a strong love for all species of animals. I have experience training dogs with basic commands and socializing them. I currently am a part time nanny. So until 10am I am busy with that and then I have travel softball as well. I love animals so much and want to help people out by being a trusting individual to take care of their animals! I have experience with crating dogs as well as leashing dogs who may be so excited to walk that they are difficult to leash. I enjoy caring for animals in the safety of their own home so they are more comfortable.

Rachel did an amazing job with checking in on my 2 cats and providing detailed updates! She was able to quickly gain the trust of one of my cats that’s extremely shy to the point she was letting Rachel pet her. Rachel was also flexible with the meeting times and check ins.

Megan is the best! She has watched our two dogs, two cats and leopard gecko multiple times. She is super reliable, very communicative, and just a delight with the animals. My only hesitation in writing this review is that she will book up and won’t be available for our numerous last minute requests!

Jennevy was really amazing with our cat MuShu, He is only affectionate with his parents, and will tolerate others, and warmed up to her gentle approach very quickly. She took all of my suggestions and advice and directions on how to make our 16 year old grumpy baby comfortable, and was very kind and thoughtful and responsive to every single thing I said (and it was a LOT :) She checked in with photos and even fed our outdoor squirrel friends nuts when I saw on the cameras they were at our back door waiting for us, but we were gone! Her and MuShu would watch the squirrels just like we do. It was great to work with Jennevy she was kind, thoughtful and trustworthy and I would definitely like to have her back again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Downers Grove. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
