“Sarah is absolutely amazing. She is trustworthy, profesional, reliable and the most caring person! It is such a relief to have zero worries about my home and my baby while we travel. Thank you Sarah for being the fabulous soul and taking the best care of Pixie!”

“Jennevy is every dog parents’ wish for competence, kindness and dependability! She’s engaging and easy to visit with, as well as, giving great attention to your dog!❤️❤️❤️”

“Ashley was great!! I had no worries about leaving my dog with her and she did such a good job at updating me throughout the day and responding quickly! Will 100% use her again if I need to!”

“Sarah did a great job watching our dog for the weekend. We got great photos of her and it looked like she was having a blast! We appreciate the care Sarah gave our dog and would love to have her again.”

About: I started taking care and training dogs when I was 13. My parents rescued my dog Luna when I was 14 and I took care of her every day and trained her, she even understands Spanish! She is the sweetest dog ever but I currently don’t live with her anymore. I also enjoy taking care of kids and I am very patient and confident in my ability to handle anything. I love to teach and I am very passionate about what I do. Once I start something I work hard to become better everyday. I am currently on summer break so I have plenty of free time. I am fully committed to working Monday-Saturday mostly from 8am-9pm. My current schedule is simple. I go to the gym from 9-11:30am and pretty much free the rest of the day. I have a part time job and I work every other week Sat-Sun from 4-10. I have a really flexible schedule so feel free to ask any questions! I would usually take my dog out for her first walk at 8 in the morning. I would take her out for at least 15min and repeat this every 3/4 hours. After her first walk I fed her breakfast, sometimes I’d crack an egg on top or drizzle honey which is great for dogs, and I fed her twice a day. If it was muddy outside I would clean her paws and fur after. I would play with her and teach her new tricks every now and then. If her breath was bad I would brush her teeth at night. I loved cuddling and sleeping with her and I would do everything to make sure she was happy.
“Stephanie stayed with our dog, Louie, for 12 days while we were in Italy. She did a wonderful job! She kept us updated each day with pictures and messages, and Louie seemed very happy and content. He even had a bit of anxiety the first few days, and Stephanie kept us in the loop and let us know as soon as he calmed down and settled in. She left our house in great condition. We can’t wait to have her back!”

“Sarah was great again on this overnight stay. She gave us regular updates and tons of photos. I’m an anxious traveler with leaving our pets and have no worries when they’re with her.”

“Lauren was great! We had an issue with one of our dogs while we were away (unrelated to Lauren) and she was super responsive and helpful to us while we were out of state. Highly recommend.”

“Highly recommend Claudia! She was an amazing house sitter and took amazing care of my two dogs. She kept me updated with how they were doing the whole time I was gone and I am very appreciative of the amazing care she provided for my dogs!”

“Melissa took care of our three babies. Our dog Pita is a bit high maintenance due to her allergies. Melissa was patient and provided excellent care. Dewey, our youngest cat is very shy. It usually takes a while for him to warm up to new people. He had no problem getting to know Melissa within minutes. She gave our other cat Boogie lots of love and attention as well. We definitely will ask Melissa to stay with Pita, Boogie and Dewey the next time we go away. We cannot thank her enough!”
“My pups love Loraine! We’ve worked with her twice nice and they always seem excited but calm and healthy when we get home! She does great with communicating and we enjoy working with her.”

“Nancy did a great job watching our dog Atticus! He normally gets very sad when we’re gone, but Nancy made sure he got enough love and attention and he was happy and relaxed. Atticus loved Nancy and even went into the room she stayed in a few times to check if she was still there. She sent frequent updates on his mood, whether he ate, and what they were up to, including sending pictures. We will definitely hire Nancy again!”

“Maria did a wonderful job taking care of Hazel and my two cats. She sent lots of pictures and daily updates, which allowed me to enjoy my vacation and not worry about my pets. Thank you!!”

About: Hi there! I’m Rajda. For the past 10 years, I’ve provided pet sitting services to friends and family so I’m used to handling feeding routines, walks, playtime, and making sure they feel comfortable. Whether you need drop-ins, overnight stays, or someone to love your fur baby like their own, I’m here for it! I may be new to professional pet sitting, but I’ve helped care for dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and cows over the past few years! I’m happy to provide updates and photos, and I’m committed to making your pet feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away. I work remote, so I'll have plenty of time to play and watch your dogs or cats! I'm available for overnight pet sitting, dog walking, or check-ins throughout the week as needed. I’m active and love being outdoors, so pets who enjoy walks and fresh air will get plenty of it! I provide a calm, clean, and structured environment where pets feel safe and comfortable. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and preferred activities. I prioritize clear communication, regular updates, and photos so owners always feel confident their pet is in good hands!

“I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. Jana kept me updated with messages and photos, so I never had to worry or wonder how things were going. It was such a relief knowing my dog was not just being “watched,” but truly cared for, played with, and treated like family. My puppy was happy, relaxed, and clearly well taken care of. It’s obvious Jana pays attention to details, follow instructions, and genuinely care about each pet’s personality and needs. I trust her completely and will 100% be booking again. If you’re looking for someone reliable, loving, and responsible to care for your dog, this is the person you want. Absolute gem!”

“Olivia was great with my energetic dogs! She made sure to exercise and spend time with dogs as well as take the time to understand their needs. She was also a great at providing updates and pictures through her stay.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Downers Grove
Hannah was absolutely incredible! She watched my dog for me for 3 days/nights after my planned dog sitter fell through. She saved the day! Hannah is responsive, responsible, and reliable! She was great about working with my reactive dog and made us all feel super comfortable about it. Hannah even dealt with some maintenance folks who came into the apartment! She gave my dog so much love and attention and sent lots of pictures and messages through the weekend, which put me at ease. My dog absolutely adores her and we will certainly book Hannah again. Hannah rocks!!!

Irene was fantastic house-sitting with my 3 dogs for a week. She had great communication, the place is spotless, & the dogs are happy. She was a so kind & flexible to come back & stay an extra day after our flight was delayed. Definitely will rebook 😊 Thank you!

So thankful for Jocelyn! She stayed at our house for a weekend with our dog and two cats for a last-minute booking. She kept us updated the whole time and our pets and home were perfect when we got back. Kind, thoughtful and responsible. 100% would book again.

Natasha was great! We were able to book her last minute and she did such a great job with Elmer, meeting all of his needs and giving him exceptional care while we were gone. She was easy to communicate with and super reliable. Will definitely be using her again!

Loraine handled our two big and energetic dogs with wonderful care and treated our home like her own. One of our dogs was dealing with a hurt shoulder, our garage door broke right before we left for the weekend, and we almost didn't make it home on time because of the weather, but she took all these things in stride and the doggies seemed to love her. We would highly recommend her to any family as she is super responsible, responsive and reliable. Thanks, Loraine
Highly recommend Britt to take care of your pets! She was very responsive and provided updates with every visit. She walked the dogs in cold weather, gave them food, water, medicine and spent time with them. I really appreciate how much she cared about the dogs and cannot say enough great things about her!

Julia was great and so sweet. She followed all instructions for our two dogs as we traveled. After meeting her, I could tell she was a true animal lover which I always look for :) The house was left just as it was! I would highly recommend and plan to use her care again.

Amy did a great job with our greyhound. He’s a big boy but she had no problems getting him motivated to go on walks in the mornings instead of snoozing. While he loves humans, he usually only snuggles with us. But by the end of Amy’s visit he was snuggling with her on the couch. Clearly she did a great job. Would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Downers Grove on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

As of July 2026, there are 8,384 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Downers Grove. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Downers Grove walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Downers Grove maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Downers Grove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
