“I give Sarah my highest recommendation! We have a young puppy full of energy with separation anxiety, and our pup was at ease and happy to be with Sarah! She is very warm and knowledgeable on dogs and will care for your pup as her own! Thank you so much for your help Sarah! ❤”

“Stephanie stayed with our dog, Louie, for 12 days while we were in Italy. She did a wonderful job! She kept us updated each day with pictures and messages, and Louie seemed very happy and content. He even had a bit of anxiety the first few days, and Stephanie kept us in the loop and let us know as soon as he calmed down and settled in. She left our house in great condition. We can’t wait to have her back!”

“We so appreciated having Jayme watch our dog. She was so attentive to his needs and schedule and kept us informed with plenty of updates, which gave a great peace of mind. Reggie will be excited to see Jayme again for his next play date!”

“Klaudia was so wonderful with our senior ladies. She asked great questions about the dogs and followed their routine. She kept us well informed and captured some very cute pics of them. I also think our house looked better that when we left.”

“Rita was great watching our dogs overnight while we were out of town. She sent plenty of pictures and dogs were happy when we got back. Would highly recommend to anyone in need of a house sitter for their dogs.”

“Loraine was great! She provided great feedback and pictures and took really good care of our dogs. We could tell our dogs felt calm and happy when we returned. We plan to book with her again!”

“Honestly, Sam was amazing and one of the best sisters we had in the last ten years. We love the picture updates and could tell that our Chihuahuas and Corgi loved her. It sometimes take a little time for small dogs to feel secure with a new person. They warmed up to her so quickly. We definitely recommend her Sam to anyone. 🥰🥰🥰”

About: I volunteered at an animal shelter throughout high school and had two dogs of my own. My first dog, Daisy, was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I then fostered and adopted Howie, a Chiweenie, in 2020. Both have since crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and I miss them every day. I have regularly dog sat for neighbors, friends, and even professors in college. I love all animals of all shapes and sizes and would love to take care of your furry friend! I am in the Chicago area before I move to Iowa at the end of the summer. I don’t have any other commitments and could spend all my time caring for your dogs and/or cats! I am available for a range of services from dog-walking to staying overnight! Whether you just need someone to come check in on your pet a few times a day or need someone to play with them all day long, I’m your girl.
“Miguel was fantastic! I got tons of updates, I could see that my dog was getting the very best care. Would definitely recommend Miguel for a dog sitting and walking.”

“Ashley did a great job watching our puppy in our home for a few hours. He was just neutered and she made sure to follow special care instructions. She sent multiple updates and pictures throughout the day!”

“Omgosh...I haven't seen my pups happier with any one other than my husband & I; until Angelina came along. VERY conscientious, caring, neat, & clean. Left the house the same or better than when I left. Dogs were so well cared for. They were happy and relaxed when I got home, like I never left. Easy to communicate with as well. Very responsive and timely. I look forward to having her return to my pups as a later date.”

“I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. Jana kept me updated with messages and photos, so I never had to worry or wonder how things were going. It was such a relief knowing my dog was not just being “watched,” but truly cared for, played with, and treated like family. My puppy was happy, relaxed, and clearly well taken care of. It’s obvious Jana pays attention to details, follow instructions, and genuinely care about each pet’s personality and needs. I trust her completely and will 100% be booking again. If you’re looking for someone reliable, loving, and responsible to care for your dog, this is the person you want. Absolute gem!”

“The experience with Diane was great! We will not hesitate to book with her again. She recently stayed for 4 nights with our 90-lb German Shepherd Dog. Being so comfortable with Diane made being away so much more enjoyable and relaxing. Diane sent multiple videos throughout each day to reassure us that our boy was getting exercise and having a good time. In addition, she took great care in the house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. 5 Stars!!”

About: I started taking care and training dogs when I was 13. My parents rescued my dog Luna when I was 14 and I took care of her every day and trained her, she even understands Spanish! She is the sweetest dog ever but I currently don’t live with her anymore. I also enjoy taking care of kids and I am very patient and confident in my ability to handle anything. I love to teach and I am very passionate about what I do. Once I start something I work hard to become better everyday. I am currently on summer break so I have plenty of free time. I am fully committed to working Monday-Saturday mostly from 8am-9pm. My current schedule is simple. I go to the gym from 9-11:30am and pretty much free the rest of the day. I have a part time job and I work every other week Sat-Sun from 4-10. I have a really flexible schedule so feel free to ask any questions! I would usually take my dog out for her first walk at 8 in the morning. I would take her out for at least 15min and repeat this every 3/4 hours. After her first walk I fed her breakfast, sometimes I’d crack an egg on top or drizzle honey which is great for dogs, and I fed her twice a day. If it was muddy outside I would clean her paws and fur after. I would play with her and teach her new tricks every now and then. If her breath was bad I would brush her teeth at night. I loved cuddling and sleeping with her and I would do everything to make sure she was happy.
“We were fortunate to have Lauren pet sit our dog and cat while we were away for an extended period of time. Both our cat and dog took to her very quickly, which put us at ease. She was very communicative, always on time and really went the extra mile sending photos and detailed updates. We are happy to have connected with Lauren and would highly recommend her.”

“I am so thankful for Holly!! I had to leave my pup, Banana, for a week. This is hard for me as she’s a bit of a high maintenance old lady. But Holly took such great care of her and I was never preoccupied or worried about Banana because I knew she was in such good hands!! I would give her 10 starts if I could!”

“Bella was fantastic! I couldn’t recommend her more. She took care of our pets in our home while we were away for a week. She’s very pleasant, upbeat, easygoing and easy to communicate with. She sent photos of our pets every day and left our house in great shape. We’ll definitely reach out to her next time we need a pet/house sitter!”

Hannah was absolutely incredible! She watched my dog for me for 3 days/nights after my planned dog sitter fell through. She saved the day! Hannah is responsive, responsible, and reliable! She was great about working with my reactive dog and made us all feel super comfortable about it. Hannah even dealt with some maintenance folks who came into the apartment! She gave my dog so much love and attention and sent lots of pictures and messages through the weekend, which put me at ease. My dog absolutely adores her and we will certainly book Hannah again. Hannah rocks!!!

Madeline was an amazing sitter! This was a last minute booking, and she took wonderful care of my Pomeranian while she recovered from hip surgery. She was sweet, attentive, and kept me updated with plenty of photos, which gave me great peace of mind. It was clear she was safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her!

Katelyn was AMAZING!! 😄 she was super communicative, extremely caring and attentive to taking care of my girls, and made every effort to ensure I was comfortable throughout the experience. Sent lots of adorable photos of my pups having the best time. Overall just a fantastic person and sitter! Looking forward to our next trip knowing that my fur kiddos are in wonderful hands! 10/10

So thankful for Jocelyn! She stayed at our house for a weekend with our dog and two cats for a last-minute booking. She kept us updated the whole time and our pets and home were perfect when we got back. Kind, thoughtful and responsible. 100% would book again.

Loraine handled our two big and energetic dogs with wonderful care and treated our home like her own. One of our dogs was dealing with a hurt shoulder, our garage door broke right before we left for the weekend, and we almost didn't make it home on time because of the weather, but she took all these things in stride and the doggies seemed to love her. We would highly recommend her to any family as she is super responsible, responsive and reliable. Thanks, Loraine

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Hinsdale on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,325 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hinsdale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hinsdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hinsdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hinsdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hinsdale. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
