Stephanie stayed with our dog, Louie, for 12 days while we were in Italy. She did a wonderful job! She kept us updated each day with pictures and messages, and Louie seemed very happy and content. He even had a bit of anxiety the first few days, and Stephanie kept us in the loop and let us know as soon as he calmed down and settled in. She left our house in great condition. We can’t wait to have her back!

About: I volunteered at an animal shelter throughout high school and had two dogs of my own. My first dog, Daisy, was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I then fostered and adopted Howie, a Chiweenie, in 2020. Both have since crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and I miss them every day. I have regularly dog sat for neighbors, friends, and even professors in college. I love all animals of all shapes and sizes and would love to take care of your furry friend! I am in the Chicago area before I move to Iowa at the end of the summer. I don’t have any other commitments and could spend all my time caring for your dogs and/or cats! I am available for a range of services from dog-walking to staying overnight! Whether you just need someone to come check in on your pet a few times a day or need someone to play with them all day long, I’m your girl.

Jayme stayed at our home with our dog and cat for 5 days and was a truly exceptional sitter. Our dog is older and has to go out during the night and has some anxiety, and our cat is spicy and both can be hard to win over but she did it! It was such a relief to be able to enjoy our vacation knowing our pets were so well cared for at home. The whole family enjoyed reading the updates and getting the pictures; Jayme even went above and beyond to celebrate our dog’s birthday while we were out of town! Jayme treated our pets like the family members we consider them to be, and we are so grateful. THANK YOU!

Sage was great! I was very nervous using a new sitter for this trip. We were leaving the country and had an elderly cat going through some health issues. Sage was willing to do all the things needed to help our cat, in addition to the regular tasks of care for her, our dog and a couple of little potatoes. She was reliable and very communicative during her stay. Left the house in order. Definitely will use her again!

We are so thankful for Sam! She goes above and beyond amazing as a sitter to our 2 boys even adjusting to the rare circumstances we were in the middle of during one of our bookings—giving meds and helping take care of one of my pups’ tumor removal on his paw pad that required Sam to calm and medicate sweet Palmer. She managed to keep my other dog and 2 parents’ dogs for a rare occasion and still had to deal with an upset stomach from one dog! It won’t happen again! I appreciate her feedback across the board— We are and will consistently work on our own pups’ behaviors to so they they treat our sitter correctly! Sam is the best!!!

About: Ever since I was a kid, I’ve just really cherished being around animals, even the ones who aren’t super cuddly. I have a lot of patience and respect for each pet’s personality and comfort level, and I do my best to make them feel safe, happy, and cared for while their people are away. I work full time during the week and try to stay busy on the weekend, but I will absolutely work my weekend schedule around you/your pet’s needs. I have a big fenced backyard and plenty of space inside for house-trained pets to relax, whether that’s on the couch, a comfy chair, or the floor. I share my home with one dog, a terrier mix named Minnie. She’s playful and friendly, but if your dog prefers to keep to themselves, I can easily keep them separated. Older dogs sometimes find her a bit too energetic, while younger pups usually have a great time playing with her.

About: I am an incoming vet student and have worked and surrounded myself with animals my whole life. I’ve volunteered at animal shelters, worked with vets, and was a dog handler and a doggie daycare over the past few summer years. I have experience with cat, dogs, fish, rodents, reptiles, and more. I love hiking and spending time outside as well, so hikes with dogs are more than welcome! I currently am only working an internship three days a week, so I have plenty of time to take care of your furry, scaly or slimy friends! I also don’t work weekends at all so my availability if wide open! When working with animals in they’re own homes, I think it’s important to understand you’re coming into their space and to work slowly to earn their trust!

Stephanie took wonderful care of both my kitties and my home! She communicated each day with photos and notes on how they were doing. She was very attentive to a change in behavior with one of my babies - she made sure to reach out to me, and even my emergency contact just to affirm that everything was OK. I’m extremely appreciative for both the attention and communication, because one of my cats is diabetic and sometimes a small thing is a big thing. Most importantly, my cats love her! They are always happy and well cared for when I return home. Stephanie also kept my house very clean and even changed my sheets for me so I could just return home and go right to bed. Very grateful to have her as a Sitter!

Madeline was an amazing sitter! This was a last minute booking, and she took wonderful care of my Pomeranian while she recovered from hip surgery. She was sweet, attentive, and kept me updated with plenty of photos, which gave me great peace of mind. It was clear she was safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her!

FAQs for House Sitting - Western Springs

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Western Springs on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 8,310 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Western Springs. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Western Springs walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Western Springs maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Western Springs choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Western Springs. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
