I’ve enjoyed caretaking for dogs and cats over the past 25 years of my life both in my own home and for others who have requested my pet care services. I’ve had 11 plus years of medication experience with cats and dogs for various illnesses ranging from diabetes, kidney issues, hypothyroidism, etc. Personally, I recently adopted 2.5 year old “foster fail” tuxedo twin kittens after I lost my cat of 16 years around Thanksgiving 2021. They are the loves of my life (see pics on my profile)! I also volunteer weekly at my local Petco for the adoption cats and participate in animal rescue fundraising events through the organization “Wish Upon A Rescue.”

I believe in treating all animals with the utmost respect and with the most humane care possible. I can be flexible in the duties that I provide while caring for your pet, based on your preferences and communication. If dropping in for your pet(s), I will refresh all food and water dishes, provide treats, clean/refresh litter boxes, administer medication needs, and clean up any bathroom accidents, as indicated by your preference. In addition, I will spend some quality time providing play and enrichment opportunities for your fur baby if they’re interested. Throughout my visit, I will send you pictures of your pet(s) and communicate relevant updates from that day!

My cats, raised by a feral mom, while not standoffish, aren’t super sweet to every one, but of every one they have met they seem to be the most excited to see Melanie. So whatever magical cat powers she has, it works on them. She takes good care of them and they are always well adjusted and happy when I return home from extended trips and so I highly recommend Melanie as a sitter.

Melanie took great care of my two cats while I was away. I came home to calm, happy cats who clearly got plenty of attention and consistency. Her updates were thoughtful and personal, and it was clear she understood their different personalities. When I got back, they were settled instead of anxious — even a little better behaved than usual. I really appreciated that level of care and awareness. I’ll absolutely be booking her again for future trips. Highly recommend.

Schedule
During the academic year, I’m a full-time elementary school social worker, so l’m currently looking to make my passion of caring for animals into a fun side hustle for the summer and throughout the school year. I’d love for you to choose me as your special furry family member’s caretaker! I’m usually available during the weekdays between 7:30am - 10:00pm. Monday through Friday during the summer months. I am also available most weekends! During the school year, my daytime availability may change, but my evenings after 4:30pm and weekends will still be available.
