“Adriana was great! I left my pup for the first time ever for several days with her. She was so great in keeping me updated on his well being and he even got to make new friends! She’s also very accommodating. I definitely plan on having my pup stay with her when needed.”

“Teddy stayed with Phyllis and Greg for a little over one week this time and I was confident he was in good hands. They provided daily updates and spoiled Teddy as if he was their own dog. Teddy just loves them.”

“My dog has stayed with Toya a couple of times now, and every experience has been wonderful. My dog gets excited as soon as we arrive, which says a lot about how comfortable and happy she feels there. Toya does a fantastic job keeping us updated with photos and messages, which really gives us peace of mind. We’ve had nothing but great experiences and highly recommend her!”

“Lucy was well taken care of while we were on our vacation. This was the first time she was away from family for an extensive time. I would highly recommend Pennie M. to anyone to watch there dog. We certainly will the next time we travel.”

“Suzy is great! We had to do a last minute booking for new year eve for 4days and she was able accommodate it. They have a great house with a big backyard, she was sending us photos and kept us informed about Max throughout his stay, Highly recommend and will definitely return! Thanks Suzy!”

“Katherine and family is amazing with my pup, Aspen. The communication is great. My pup gets great care, and so much love. It makes going away easy. This last visit, they even gave Aspen a toy to bring home 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you Katherine and family.”

“Went above and beyond my expectations! Darrilyn clearly loves dogs and treats each dog with individual, personal care. She also made sure I felt comfortable - lots of updates and talked me through what to expect!”

“Kim and her family are the best! She gave updates and sent many pictures! Bailey was so happy and couldn’t wait to spend time with Kim! She even gave Bailey a Christmas gift! We will always book with Kim!”

“Serena watched our 6 month old puppy at her house for a week, and he had a great time! She communicated with us every day, and we felt very at ease and able to enjoy our trip without worrying. She also has a very sweet dog who kept him company during his stay.”

“Kyla took great care of Winston while we were on vacation for an extended period of time. This is the second time she has assisted while we were overseas. She has a proven record of taking care of our 17 month old, high energy Schnauzer and providing frequent updates. We will continue to ask for her assistance in the future.”

“I’ve used so many Rovers and she is absolutely fantastic. Takes care of my pup as if she were my own, and has a way better back yard for them to run around in. Great about photo and video updates, too. Highly recommend.”

“Tyler and his wife took great care of Ernie. They sent lots of pictures keeping us updated on his stay. They gave him his medication and even kept him company when he was hiding from thunderstorms in their bathroom. We would definitely use them again!”

“I highly recommend Brent to anyone looking for a caring and reliable person to watch their dog. He has a wonderful family, and it was clear that they all helped care for Paffin and made sure he was always surrounded by attention and company. Brent stayed in touch with us throughout the entire stay, which made us feel very comfortable. They are genuinely kind and trustworthy people, and we are so happy we found them. We will definitely book with Brent again and recommend him to our friends.”

“Kimberly and her family took excellent care of our Dutchie. Daily updates with photos were especially nice. She was spoiled and pampered. I would definitely book with them again.”

“Susan is responsive and easy to communicate with. She took great care of our pup and sent many updates, photos, and videos throughout her stay. Susan has a nice fenced in yard, lots of toys for the pups, and a sweet and caring personality. Highly recommend!”

“Kayla is an absolute gem! We were out of town for almost 2 weeks, and understandably nervous to leave our fur baby. Our family and Dash got to meet Kayla and her family before we left; everyone immediately felt at ease. Both Kayla and her family are dog lovers, and it shows! Dash was so well loved on! Kayla kindly sent us pics each day (even though we did not ask), so we could so how Dash was doing. Our kiddos looked forward to these pics and videos, and they helped us all have a vacation for the memory books! Thank you Kayla for loving on Dash just as much as we could hope for!”

“Cary (and family) were great hosts for Mashed Potato. He's a pretty no fuss dog, and she matched with a similar "chill energy". We got in a Meet & Greet ahead of time (not that MP ever met a stranger or enemy, but it was a good double check), and we got photos here and there over our pretty long time away (mostly of him enjoying scratches and attention). Otherwise, it was pretty no frills and a smooth process. He came back happy and healthy.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Darien
Lynn gets a ten star rating from Jasper and I. He has stayed at her house many times. Jasper is almost 16 years old, so he can’t hear well and his sight is starting to fail a bit. He is on some medications and supplements for health issues. He drinks a ton of water and piddles a lot (sometimes in places he shouldn’t). Lynn accommodates for his needs. I have no worries about Jasper when I’m on vacation. I can totally relax knowing he is in her kind loving care.

Heather and Israel were great - always responsive, let us know how things were going and our pup was adapting while we were gone for the weekend. Our flight was cancelled and they were so kind to watch our pup an extra night and be flexible with the pickup time. Our pup had so much fun and we will definitely use them again!

Sayju was an amazing dog sitter! They took excellent care of our dog and made sure all of their needs were met. We appreciated the regular updates, photos, and the genuine care and attention they provided. It was clear that our dog felt comfortable, happy, and loved while we were away. Sayju was reliable, professional, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire experience. We would gladly trust Sayju with our dog again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and dependable pet sitter.

I would highly recommend Danielle to take care of your pet. I was very nervous about boarding my dog, since I have never boarded a pet before. She was very accommodating to all of my dog’s specific needs. She also had a spacious home and a big beautiful backyard for my dog to enjoy. I believe she even spoiled my dog by letting my dog make herself at home on Daniel’s couch to sleep at night. Which I really appreciated Danielle is also great about sending pictures and lengthy updates. I would definitely board my dog with Danielle again as needed. I was able to enjoy my two week vacation, because I knew that my dog instantly liked Danielle and her home at our initial Meet and Greet. Like I said before, she is not only a nice person, but met all of my dog’s needs. Looking forward to boarding my dog again with Danielle in the future.

Our Doberman Miley spent an entire week at their home. They have a beautiful home with a large fenced in yard and three dogs that Miley had a blast playing with all week.I received daily updates and photos which made us less feel at ease as it looked as though she was happy and enjoying her temporary family. They took great care of her and I would highly recommend them as a sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
