“I cannot recommend Bailey enough! I was out of the country for a week, with little to no signal, and Bailey still managed to keep me updated as much as she could. My dog, Leo, wasn't eating alot in the beginning and Bailey did everything she could to get him eat and gave him a bath or two after rolling he rolled in poop lol. It was my first time using Rover and I'm so glad I came across her profile! Also, it was a last minute booking and she was able to accept Leo. Thank you, Bailey, for taking care of Leo as if he was your own pup. I know he misses you! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“Heather ended up taking care of Dempsey an extra day after our flight back to Chicago was cancelled. She was quick to respond and helped make a stressful situation a little easier to manage. She took great care of Demps while we were out of town. Thank you!!”

“Pebbles really enjoyed her stay with Sarah! Sarah was great at communicating and kept us updated with pics while we were away. Highly recommend and will be using Sarah again for our pup!”

“Cary (and family) were great hosts for Mashed Potato. He's a pretty no fuss dog, and she matched with a similar "chill energy". We got in a Meet & Greet ahead of time (not that MP ever met a stranger or enemy, but it was a good double check), and we got photos here and there over our pretty long time away (mostly of him enjoying scratches and attention). Otherwise, it was pretty no frills and a smooth process. He came back happy and healthy.”

“OMG!!! Connie was the best -mom away from home- I could ask for!!! Juiji and Jojo were so cute. Connie made sure Juiji was comfortable and that I was sure she was safe, behaving, and co-mingling. Her photos of Juiji should be in a doggy magazine! I could not have asked for a better -mom away from home- and she's the best and she's around the corner from me. So grateful for her!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND CONNIE?♥️??”

“Janet was great with our lil’ Lexi (a Havanese) and took great care of her while we were out-of-town for a few days! We’ll definitely consider leaving Lexi with Janet the next time we take a family trip! Thanks Janet for all your help!”

“Linda was very proactive and took care of our furry with great care. She communicated on a daily basis and made us feel very comfortable. She has a cozy house and our furry had a wonderful time with her family. Thank you Linda.”

“This is the second time my dogs have stayed with Syl and Olivia. I would definitely bring my pups back! My dogs got along well with their 2 small dogs and learned to use the doggie door to enter the fenced backyard. I received several photos of the pups playing and being held. it seems that the family gave the pups a lot of care and attention. They are dog lovers. Based on conversations at pick up it was clear they understood the dogs different personalities. Syl and Olivia were responsive, communicative willing to accommodate my requests. Both of my experiences with this sitter were excellent!”

“Janet was the best! I was nervous to leave my dog behind, but she eased my fears. She sent me pictures every day and her dogs welcomed my dog into their pack right away. He was sad to come home! I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful sitter. We’ll definitely be repeat customers! Thank you, Janet!”

“When the car got close to Marissa’s home, Lucy couldn’t wait to get out of the car! It’s comforting to know she’s going to be safe and have fun too. Thank you Marissa!”

“We are so incredibly grateful for the amazing care Wayne provided for Miller! He was truly the best—so personable, caring, and attentive from start to finish. It gave us such peace of mind knowing Miller was in such good hands; Wayne kept us fully updated the entire time while providing top-notch care. We are beyond happy and will definitely be using his services again and again!”

“Kori obviously had a great time at Jim’s. Jim is very organized and attended to my senior dog’s needs well in the quiet and relaxed environment she needs. I would feel comfortable having Kori stay with Jim again.”

“Judith took good care of Oscar when I was away. She is very responsive. My flight was delayed and Judith took care of Oscar for one more night which was a great help. Definitely will come back again and would recommend her!”

“Leila had a great first stay over with Jackie and Casper! Casper is super sweet and very playful, so they seemed to get along really well. Jackie is very considerate and thorough, will reach out again when we need a sitter.”

“Loraine is awesome dog sitter. Very good communications before, during and after the stay - Loraine took our furry Masti on walks and played with him to keep our high energy Bernadoodle tamed. Would highly recommend. Very clean dog friendly apartments with a mini dog park as well and our furry had a good time.”

“It was our first time boarding Koda, so we were a little nervous about how he would handle it. Megan made the entire experience incredibly comforting and seamless. She kept us updated throughout the day, responded quickly, and truly put our minds at ease. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend her to anyone.”

“Guillermina is a wonderful sitter! She watched my dog for a week and made sure to send me pictures and updates daily. She was very attentive of my dog’s needs and well-being. Highly recommend!”

About: I grew up with dogs, worked at PetSmart for many years, continued dog sitting professionally, and raised my own current dog, Gizmo, from 5 weeks old. I have gone through extensive training and I use that to help others with training issues when I can. I've been through various medical issues and found the appropriate care, including for a choking dog. I am an artist and like to photograph or draw they dogs I care for - have done separate pet portrait work not included with dog sitting. I like to try to really communicate with and understand each dog in their own circumstances. I have a dog park available just a short walk down the street. I have the ability to schedule working from home if needed. Typically, if you would like your dog to stay at my home, they will be sharing space with my dog, Gizmo. So please communicate if you need special consideration for alone time. I take walks or visit the dog park in the mornings. I typically work 10 to 6 Monday through Friday at an office, but can schedule days to work from home if a dog is staying and can not be left for a long period of time. My dog is Gizmo. He is okay with other dogs and will typically play a little outside and leave your dog to have their own space inside. You will need to discuss your situation with me if your dog needs alone time with me as I would need to address Gizmo's care under those circumstances. My house is on the smaller side, but the yard is fenced in and is reasonably sized. There is a dog door available to allow easy access to the yard. Dogs are allowed on couches and the bed in my home. I have one large crate if you would like your dog to use one. Each room can be closed off if separation is needed. If I am caring for a dog in another home, I need to take the same consideration for Gizmo. Please share your needs so we can adjust as necessary.
“Michelle and Matthew took such great care of our 2 dogs - we are so grateful! We received pictures and updates every day, which we very much appreciated. Our dogs got walks and exercise and lots of love! This was our first time finding care through the Rover app, and we were so relieved to find such a great family to care for our dogs. Thank you Michelle and Matthew!!”

This is my 7 year old, Shih Tzu’s 3rd time with Sarai & she loves it over there. She’s always ready & available with a positive, welcoming attitude to Jazz & helps her feel comfortable Sarai’s communication/updates can sometime be a little off, but she eventually gets back to me in 24 hours or less. Jazz always comes back happy & healthy.

Sandra was absolutely wonderful in taking care of Ellie! From our initial meeting to the final pickup, everything was seamless and stress-free. She kept us updated regularly with pictures and made sure Ellie was happy and comfortable throughout. We truly appreciate her care and attention. Thank you, Sandra—We will definitely use your service again!
We had a great experience with Chloe. She and her boyfriend took great care of our little boy during our trip. Communications were easy. They are very detailed and took the time to learn about our boy’s habits & likes/dislikes to make sure he has a comfortable stay. We would definitely have them watch our boy again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
