“Jim was great with Philip! He sent photos and kept me updated throughout the stay. Jim’s home is very clean and organized. He played with Philip in his backyard and even invited his dad’s dog over to keep my boy company. The two got along well! Will certainly book again! Book with Jim!”

“I can’t recommend her enough! She was an absolute sweetheart and took incredible care of my dogs. She kept me updated with the perfect amount of messages and photos, and it was so clear how much she genuinely loved and played with them as if they were her own. She also went above and beyond to accommodate a family emergency I was dealing with, and I’m so grateful for her kindness and flexibility. If you get the chance to book with her, do it. Your pets will be in the best hands.”

“Serena watched our 6 month old puppy at her house for a week, and he had a great time! She communicated with us every day, and we felt very at ease and able to enjoy our trip without worrying. She also has a very sweet dog who kept him company during his stay.”

“Super sitter! I felt so comfortable leaving my two babies (one with separation anxiety) with Cary and her family. Cary checked in while I was gone, sent photos, and answered any questions. The dogs were super happy. I will definitely call on Cary again.”

“My baby was having so much fun I was worried he might not want to come home with me! He even got my little stinker to play fetch- something that me, my parents, and a boyfriend haven’t been able to convince him to do since I got him. So glad to have found a place Chance likes to take him when I am not able to take him with me.”

“Amazing! My doggy’s were so happy. One of my dogs had a cone and he was extra cared for it was really appreciated! The dogs came home with a goodie bag and everything. Will definitely book again!”

“Tabitha was so amazing and I loved all the pictures I got. My babies looked so happy and relaxed. I would definitely use and refer her to all my friends and family.”

“Remax was relaxed and happy in Jo'Ell's care. She made the stay easier by having crates so we didn't need to transport ours. She was even kind enough to bring Remax to the car for pick up as it was so cold out! Will call her next time we need a sitter.”

“Data was great at sending pictures and staying in constant communication. Piper probably got more walks there than she does when we are at home! Piper was comfortable and happy the whole time!”

“Barbara is amazing! She came through last minute for Molly! We did a meet and greet Molly liked her instantly. She sends lots of pictures. We even did a second visit. I feel like its a treat for Molly too! She walked in last visit like it was her home. I highly recommend Barbara. She loves animals and you can tell.”

“Donelle did a great job of taking care of Hershey! She returned my dog to me in even better shape than I could have imagined. I 10/10 recommend Donelle to pet sit and would book her again! She treated my dog like her own and went above and beyond, me and Hershey are very satisfied. She also has a beautiful home.”

“Bridget was amazing with our dog, Miller. Miller has separation anxiety and can be a hit or miss with sitters, but he warmed up to Bridget and her family right away. Great communication and felt extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend to let your dog stay with her family and pup of her own who is both adorable and friendly.”

“Amber did such a wonderful job caring for my senior dog! She was incredibly attentive to all of the instructions I provided, including her medication schedule, feeding routine, and outdoor needs. She also sent thoughtful daily updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that my pup was in great hands, and I’m so grateful for the care and attention she provided. I would happily book with her again in the future!”

“Heather and Israel were great - always responsive, let us know how things were going and our pup was adapting while we were gone for the weekend. Our flight was cancelled and they were so kind to watch our pup an extra night and be flexible with the pickup time. Our pup had so much fun and we will definitely use them again!”

“Janet was great with my dog Guts! Took good care of him and she was very flexible and accommodating with pick up and drop off times. I will definitely be bringing Guts back to her should I need care for him in the future.”

“This was our first time working with Christie and it was great. She watched our 11 year old dachshund Frank. We were updated every day and it was obvious Frank was happy. We're looking forward to having Frank stay again sometime when we travel in the future.”

“Guillermina is a wonderful sitter! She watched my dog for a week and made sure to send me pictures and updates daily. She was very attentive of my dog’s needs and well-being. Highly recommend!”

About: I grew up with dogs, worked at PetSmart for many years, continued dog sitting professionally, and raised my own current dog, Gizmo, from 5 weeks old. I have gone through extensive training and I use that to help others with training issues when I can. I've been through various medical issues and found the appropriate care, including for a choking dog. I am an artist and like to photograph or draw they dogs I care for - have done separate pet portrait work not included with dog sitting. I like to try to really communicate with and understand each dog in their own circumstances. I have a dog park available just a short walk down the street. I have the ability to schedule working from home if needed. Typically, if you would like your dog to stay at my home, they will be sharing space with my dog, Gizmo. So please communicate if you need special consideration for alone time. I take walks or visit the dog park in the mornings. I typically work 10 to 6 Monday through Friday at an office, but can schedule days to work from home if a dog is staying and can not be left for a long period of time. My dog is Gizmo. He is okay with other dogs and will typically play a little outside and leave your dog to have their own space inside. You will need to discuss your situation with me if your dog needs alone time with me as I would need to address Gizmo's care under those circumstances. My house is on the smaller side, but the yard is fenced in and is reasonably sized. There is a dog door available to allow easy access to the yard. Dogs are allowed on couches and the bed in my home. I have one large crate if you would like your dog to use one. Each room can be closed off if separation is needed. If I am caring for a dog in another home, I need to take the same consideration for Gizmo. Please share your needs so we can adjust as necessary.

Honestly, dropping my dog off and seeing Ann has become a favorite part of vacation planning. I feel so at ease going away and knowing Enzo is taken care of and loved while also getting to spend time with Teddy and Chewy! I could write a novel about how thankful I am for Ann and her family. 10000 thank you’s just doesn’t express it enough! ❤️🐾

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
