“Matt was beyond outstanding with my dog. I have a Husky and they are a challenge. I was so scared when I dropped him off for the 1st time. But Matt sent me updates and pics a couple times a day, he had advice for me about my own dog that is helping me handle him better. He even threw in a little training my Husky now lays down on command. He took my dog on hour long walks, Huskys need lots of excessive. And he was able to get that in Matt's gigantic closed in yard.”

“Amazing! Highly recommend Connie. She sent me pictures of Bruno and also has a amazing fenced backyard. Her dog was also adorable and got along with Bruno really well.”

“Joe provided outstanding care for our dog Panda this weekend, and we couldn't be happier with his service. He was incredibly responsive, sending us regular updates, and his flexibility with our timing was a huge plus. Joe's genuine affection for Panda was heartwarming, and we'd gladly entrust our beloved dog to his care in the future. We highly recommend him!”

“Addi loved her time with Dara. She got walks and plenty of play time. Dara sent pics to keep me updated. It was my first time using Rover or anyone other than family. Highly recommend Dara.”

“Beth was amazing!! Our dog seemed to love being with her. She sent a lot of pictures and videos, which was very comforting. She played with him a ton and treated him like one of her own. We will definitely book with Beth again.”

“Desiree was amazing with our 4 year old terrier mix and high energy 5 month old puppy! We were nervous with our puppy who hadn’t been in boarding before, and she was great with keeping us posted on their behavior & sending daily pics/updates. Our dogs came home exhausted from having so much fun at their time away. She was also great with our 4 y.o. who preferred her personal space around the younger dogs there. We will absolutely use her again!”

“This was my first time using Rover. When I met Kendra before the actual drop off day, I was confident that Rico would be in good hands. She kept me updated throughout the weekend of his progress. Thanks for putting my mind at ease! Will definitely us again”

“Monica and Daniel are very wonderful people who take excellent care of our furry baby! Right off the bat when we first met them we got an excellent first impression. They are very warm and friendly and were great with our pet! They play with her and take her for walks. When we came home after our weekend away our pet was relaxed and happy. During our time away, they sent us photos and updates of our baby which was really nice ? I look forward to booking them again in the future!! Even my 7 y.o. son likes them too and told me that we should leave our pet again with them next time. Thanks for doing such a great job, keep up the great work!! ❤”

“Angel has been a great sitter for my two dogs! We have a very elderly dog that needs a lot of attention and Angel has been so great with him. My dogs always come home happy and seem to have a great time when staying with him!”

“Tanisha is absolutely the best… She is a true dog lover! She took care my Rocky as if it was her dog. She sent pictures everyday. If I could I would have given her 10 stars. I found my dog a care giver. I am definitely rebooking”

“Axx enjoyed his stay with Eniya and her various family members! He had some new experiences while there and I was pleased with how well Axx responded. Eniya sent pictures and videos that made me feel comfortable that he was in good hands. Anita is very personable to humans, but she is definitely a dog lover! I’m so happy I’ve found a reliable, competent sitter for our boy!!”

“Chelsea was phenomenal!! 5 out of 5 stars doesn’t even begin to cover it. So easy to communicate with, we received more pictures then we knew what to do with, and she was consistently taking the dogs on walks, to the beach, and out for treats. Couldn’t be more thankful. If we are ever in Chicago again we will be using her services!!”

“Michelle and Christy make me feel so comfortable about our dogs wellbeing while we’re out of town. They are great communicators and let you know what’s happening at home. I have used them many times and will continue to do so in the future.”

“Katarina was so patient with Luna and I appreciated the whole process from the intro to the pick up!! She made me and Luna feel extremely welcomed and shared plenty of pictures. I would absolutely use her again and would recommend! 10 out of 10, no notes!”

Mercedes is my regular care giver for my 11 yr old Cockapoo & I booked an additional weekend for a retreat with my Mom. I heard my Mom (talking with some old friends) giving Mercedes & her family a beautiful shout out … “Sax (my dog) is with his other family”. 🥰❣️I thought that was such an awesome acknowledgement because everyone knows I will take Sax anywhere, but now he has a great family to hangout with.

Amy was amazing with Jax!!! She gave daily night reports, long walks, intentional playtime. Jax got along with her pups too. She even gave him a nice bath so he was perfect returning to us. I'm sure Jax didn't want to leave with all of the love and care from Amy. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Danny was great with my dog, Gabe, and was extremely easy to communicate with! He was very accommodating and was understanding of the intricacies that come with boarding a large dog. He made sure to take many pictures and texted me to help alleviate my own anxiety about being away from my dog. When we met Danny for a meet and greet, my dog instantly was comfortable. I have never seen him like that at a commercial boarder. I am very grateful for Danny!

We had a wonderful experience with our Rover sitter, Jim! He boarded our 5 month old American Eskimo puppy, Millie, over the busy Fourth of July weekend and we couldn't have been happier with the care he provided. This was our puppy's first time away from home and he made it such a positive experience! Thank you!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
