“Sarah was great. She took very good care of my dog and cat and kept me updated with photos and recaps of their activities. She obviously loves animals and I felt my boys were very safe in her care--I recommend her highly.”

“Roman was Charise’s first ever Rover dog and we were really happy to have connected with her for our 5-day trip. Charise was a great sitter—she sent detailed updates about how Roman was doing with Navi and hope he was settling in while we were away. Her home is very clean and Charise is a very warm and welcoming host. Navi is just the cutest little nugget ever, and I could tell immediately Roman would feel right at home with Charise. Our big GSD is a big baby and throws a bit of a fit every time we leave, but Charise and Navi were patient with him while he warmed up to the idea of us being away—by the time we returned, he was fully integrated into their little family. Roman is allowed on the couch and bed for cuddles, and Charise has a full basement for the dogs to run around and play, a small yard, and she takes them together on long walks. Roman came home fully pooped from a week of playing with Navi and we’ll definitely be using Charise in the future!”

“Our pup had an extended stay with Adolfo - he was great! Very flexible with drop off and pick-up and sent us regular photo updates of her playing. He understands dogs and is very thorough before booking. I assume she had a blast because she is worn out from all the play time! We will book again!”

“Martina was absolutely wonderful with our dog Knute! She treated him as if he was her own. She took him for plenty of walks and sent us tons of photos and videos, which really showed what a great time he was having! We know he had a great time because he was smiling when we came to pick him up! :) She also lives in a super nice, quaint, and dog friendly neighborhood. We won't hesitate to book with Martina in the future! This will be Knute's new vacation home when we visit Chicago! Thanks again for taking such great care of our guy!”

“Brian was great. We had some anxiety leaving our dog in an unfamiliar place but Brian was wonderful with him and put our minds at ease. He asked questions and took notes on everything we told him during the meet and greet. He gave updates throughout our trip to show our dog was enjoying. We will definitely be using Brian again.”

“Ingrida always does a wonderful job taking care of my dog, Sadie. She has stayed with Ingrida several times and now Sadie gets very excited when we pull up to her house. I know she is well taken care of because she is always a happy dog when I pick her up. I would recommend Ingrida because it’s obvious she is a dog lover and treats your pet as her own!”
“Shirley was absolutely amazing with our older pup! He had an amazing time. Shirley went above and beyond to make sure our pups needs were met and that he was happy. She sent pictures and videos and gave us updates regularly. Shirley was the best! Would use her again and would definitely recommend her to others!”

“Frances was friendly, provided timely responses and updates, and my dog clearly had a great time staying with her. I would absolutely recommend having Francis watch your pets.”

“Matt was an AMAZING host. Frank enjoyed his “vacation” while we were away. Matt was very flexible and accommodating and really focused on ensuring Frank was happy and satisfied. This was definitely a great experience and I am looking forward to having Frank stay with Matt again in the near future.”
“Regan was great! She sent plenty of pics and updates. She took amazing care of both Joe Willie and LuLu Bug and I’m not sure they wanted to come home ? Will definitely bring my furbabies back to Regan next time I need an overnight or have to go out of town. ?”
“Teddy stayed with Phyllis and Greg for a little over one week this time and I was confident he was in good hands. They provided daily updates and spoiled Teddy as if he was their own dog. Teddy just loves them.”

“We had to leave our 4 yr old golden doodle boy with Matthew & Michelle for a week. This was his very first time without our company since he was brought home from the breeder 4 years ago. We were pretty worried if he could adjust himself to an absolutely new environment. But we were relieved with the care that Matthew & Michelle provided to our baby. First of all, they provided us a very flexible time to drop off and pick up, and then sent us the updates and photos every day. They allowed him to freely stay anywhere in the house just the way how he does at his own home. They walked him couple times a day, played with him in their backyard with his favorite toy, took him to the Memorial Day parade, allowed him to lay next to them while they were working, and gave him new toys to play. We could tell easily that how comfortable Simba felt staying with Matthew & Michelle! Thank you so much Matthew & Michelle for your excellent job on taking care of Simba! We are so grateful that we found you as Simba’s first sitter! Will definitely ask for your help watching Simba in the future! THANK YOU!!!”

“We have had Nick and Jill (and kids) watch Niko a few times now and every time Niko comes back healthy and happy! He gets excited as we pull up and runs right into the house when we drop him off! We will definitely use them again!”

“Baily did an outstanding job taking care of our little Greta (6 years old pug/boston terrier mix rescue). She kept us updated on Greta's stay with her and it was obvious from the updates and accompanying photos that Greta was feeling right at home and being showered with affection by Baily.”

Our dog, Waffles, has been staying with Regan for over 5 years and he always has the best time! Regan is wonderful to work with and we know that Waffles is always well taken care of and having a great time when he’s there. She’s our go to anytime we can’t bring him on our adventures!

Holly and her family immediately welcomed Lincoln into their home and made sure he felt comfortable during his stay. Holly sent us lots of updates and made sure we knew how our boy was doing. Would highly recommend and Lincoln hopes he can visit again. He especially loved his playtime with Holly’s pups Layla and Piper☺️

Selene took wonderful care of our dog, Peanut! She sent us daily pictures and updates, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Peanut was happy and well cared for. We’re so grateful for her attentiveness and kindness, and we would absolutely trust her with Peanut again. Highly recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
