“Tanqueray was phenomenal with my sweet but anxious older little guy. She took his unique needs into consideration as she thoughtfully planned his stay. He was comfortable and happy, which I knew because he doesn’t usually go up to sitters to say bye when I pick him up. But he did this with her. He made new doggy friends on his walks (which he’s also not always up to) and he and Sir, a sweet little guy, got along wonderfully. I’m grateful for Tanqueray and the loving care she took of my pup.”

“Jonelle is an absolute professional and very passionate about her work. She checked in regularly with a brief description of daily activities, and provided pics & videos of my pups during their extended stay. Response time was exceptional and was available every time I reached out. My dogs mean the world to me and I was able to enjoy my time away without worry of their care or well being. If you are looking for someone that’s dependable and efficient, Jonelle is definitely someone to consider without any hesitation. HIGHLY recommend. A simple thank you would not come close to expressing my gratitude.”

“Truly cannot rave enough about how wonderful Ruben was for my 1 year old lab’s 1 week stay at his house. This was the longest I’ve ever left my pup and he was so kind and responsive sending photos and updates daily - absolutely went above and beyond in every sense (it was my dog’s birthday over the week Ruben watched him and he made it so special for him). He was flexible with pick up and drop off times, answered all of my questions; there’s no doubt my dog was sad to leave since he took such wonderful care of him! Cannot recommend Ruben enough and will absolutely be referring him to all friends and family.”

“Cheryl is absolutely the best, most caring person on rover. She will 100% treat your pet like one of her own and will make sure they are well taken care of. She is communicative, sending regular updates on how our dog was doing. Our large, senior dog experienced some health issues while we were gone, and Cheryl went above and beyond to make sure our dog was well taken care of including taking our dog to our vet multiple times for fluids. Even our vet told us that Cheryl is the sweetest person ever. There is no one I would trust more with our dog, and I absolutely suggest to anyone to book with her because she will take amazing care of you and your pets. Thank you Cheryl! You seriously are the best sitter on this app! Thank you for taking such good care of our girl while we were away.”

“Sarah was great. She took very good care of my dog and cat and kept me updated with photos and recaps of their activities. She obviously loves animals and I felt my boys were very safe in her care--I recommend her highly.”

“Luisa was so wonderful to our dog Millie while we were away for spring break. It was our first time leaving Millie and she took such great care of her. It took Millie a few days to adjust to being in a new place and Luisa was very attentive and sent us lots of updates. Thank you Luisa!”

“Katarina was so patient with Luna and I appreciated the whole process from the intro to the pick up!! She made me and Luna feel extremely welcomed and shared plenty of pictures. I would absolutely use her again and would recommend! 10 out of 10, no notes!”

“My Bogey always acted like we were abandoning him at the shelter when we dropped him off in boarding environments, but after meeting Katherine and her crew, he was excited to explore with his new friends, and the photos that Katherine sent proved he was having a great time. They have a very lovely and dog friendly home and yard and you can tell they get to know the pets they care for. We will absolutely use them again.”

“This was my first time using Rover, and Justine and Brett were great! It looks like my doggo had a good time, and I felt very secure leaving him with Justine and Brett. I got photos every day, and it looked like he was having a blast. My flight home got delayed, and J&B were gracious and flexible. I’ll for sure use them again for dog care.”

“Thank you Angelica for caring for my fur baby while I was away! Angelica is a great communicator throughout from time of booking up until the end of stay. She is very passionate when caring for your fur baby. Overall a great sitter and highly recommended!! Please expect to receive pictures and videos of your fur baby interacting with other fur babies.”

“Rob has went above and beyond for my Nova. I had to make a very hard decision to possibly putting her in a shelter, but he said “no” I will keep her until a loving home is found for her. It has happen and it’s going to be bitter sweet, Rob is loving her as she deserves. Thank you Rob for your loving heart and passion.”

“It was Daisy’s first time boarding and Susseth did an amazing job! I was left for one week on vacation and had previously only left Daisy with family so I was a bit nervous about how Daisy would do. Susseth is very detail oriented and provided fun photos and video updates daily throughout that ensured me Daisy was doing well. Daisy is also a picky eater and she was so accommodating with me bringing all of Daisy’s snacks. She was also flexible with pick up and drop off times knowing travel can get a bit tricky. Thank you so much for taking care of her! I’ll definitely be bringing Daisy back for daycare and boarding.”

“Kyla took great care of our dog. She was communicative, sent lots of photos, and made sure our dog got all the care and exercise she needed. Thanks Kyla!”

“Julia was amazing! Our pup had so much fun. She can be sensitive and Julia was great with understanding her dietary needs, medication, and need to balance activity with rest. We are so excited to have found Julia and Vali can’t wait to go back!”

“First time using rover.com. was very happy that my girls were well taken care of. Diane always kept me updated and sent pictures. She's super friendly and obviously a great person who loves animals. Will use her again.”

“Robert was great with my pup Maverick! He was able to watch him last minute for me, and would send me picture updates and let me know how he was doing, eating, and adjusting. Maverick got a lot of play time too and had a great time! I will definitely be using Robert again in the future!”

“My dogs had a blast with Eniya! She was very responsive, professional, and accommodating to my last minute request. My energetic dogs came home happy and ready to take a nap. I will definitely book again and wouldn’t hesitate to refer her to anyone else.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
