I work Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm but I am able to go home to check on your pet and walk them during my lunch hour and I'm usually home by 4:50 pm. Your pet would have a walk in the morning followed by breakfast, a walk at noon with a snack, and two walks (or three) in the evening when I get home from work and before bed. They will also have their dinner and a pre-bedtime snack and walk. I do not work on Saturday and Sunday so I'll be at home all day for walks and lots of play time during the day.

I don't have a fenced yard but I do have a play pen I can set up outside during warm days. I have a three bedroom home and your pet would have a room all to themselves with a comfy bed, food and lots of toys. They are also allowed to hang out through the whole house. There is also a park nearby and a forest preserve where we can walk and explore around. I only board neutered or spayed pets, no exceptions.

All pets need to be neutered or spayed. I will not accept unsterilized pets. Let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. I would prefer pets that get along with children and men as I take care of my partner's 7 year old child two days a week and on the weekends. Pets need to be up to date on their vaccinations and be on heartworm and intestinal parasite preventives, as well as tick and flea preventives all year round. This is a must, especially during spring, summer and fall when tick activity is high.
A typical day
I love to stimulate your pets by providing a playful environment where they can feel comfortable running around and enjoy different games. I will also take them on walks around the neighborhood so that they can explore their new environment and get safely acquainted with their surroundings.

I am a former licensed veterinary technician who now works in public health. I'm still licensed as a vet tech in Puerto Rico and I'm still certified as a vet tech in IL. I have had dogs and cats since I was a kid and have pet sat family and friends' pets. I recently lost my beloved canine companion to cancer and, while I'm not ready to adopt another pet yet, I am eager to love and take care of furry companions while their owners are away on vacation or traveling for work. I have a three bedroom home and your pet would have a room all to themselves with a comfy bed, food and lots of toys. I enjoy having a relaxing night at home watching tv and what better way to enjoy the evening than having a furry friend lounging by your side on movie nights. I'm hoping your pup or kitty likes kids as I take care of a 7 year old child two to three times a week and on the weekends and she would love to help out taking care of them. I would love to be able to meet your pet and get to know their likes, dislikes and any special needs in terms of behavior, health and diet. I guarantee your pet will receive the royal treatment during their stay and will be loved and well taken care of. I can also take care of other animals like guinea pigs and rabbits.

Shirley provided amazing care for my dog over a weekend stay! She consistently sent me updates with pictures, and my little dog was as happy as a clam!! Shirley walked her several times a day and even got her to eat, which she rarely does if I am not around! Our terrier mix Ripley has been in Shirley‘s care for extended periods of time in the past few years. On every occasion he was in excellent shape and high spirits when we picked him up, and the affection he shows Shirley makes it obvious that also emotionally he receives the best care from her. Shirley sends us daily pictures and video clips about Ripley‘s activities and adventures. Seeing him relaxed and playful at her place sets our minds at ease when we are not with him.
