About: I've spent a few years pet-sitting for family members and friends with many dogs and some cats. I can do feedings, walks, play-time, baths, or whatever is needed. I can also administer medication in liquid form , tablets, or topical ointments. I am currently volunteering/fostering at a cat shelter! I've lived with dogs and I also have my own 2-year-old cat that is living her best life. I am currently a graduate student with classes once per week, clinic twice per week, and a part-time job. I am otherwise available: Saturdays/Sundays any time Mondays and Tuesdays after 6pm Thursdays before 11am and after 4pm Fridays before 4pm I will always respect an animal's boundaries and adjust to their personality. I like giving them their space and letting them control the situation. About: I used to have a dog, and I truly miss the companionship and joy that having a dog brought into my life. Unfortunately, because I rent my current home, I can't own a dog right now. To recapture that wonderful feeling, I've decided to walk dogs in my spare time. It allows me to experience the happiness of being around dogs again, even if I can't have one of my own at the moment. I have owned a small dog as a child and recently a 130 cane corso so I am comfortable with all sizes. Currently I am available after 5 on Fridays and most weekends. My own Boston Terrier, Hutson, currently 8 years old, is a well socialized, solid companion who is very good with canine communication, and will give space to dogs who need and request it, or play with those who share his play style (I monitor very closely). He’s especially good with puppies. I am also very comfortable maintaining obedience protocols when needed, but also flexible and realistic about dogs' behavior. I have some experience with dogs' health needs. I have helped care for my mother's cocker spaniel, whose serious autoimmune condition has required the administration of daily oral medication, including immune system blockers and steroids. I've also cared for a four month-old Boston Terrier puppy who when we first met needed medication administered twice daily. Outside my interest in animals, I've run a summer program for high school students, and have significant and transferable experience handling emergency situations and working under pressure. I currently work from home, and I rarely leave client dogs unattended. We have a large backyard full of interesting smells and occasional visits from other animal friends, from squirrels to rabbits and opossums. I also love longer walks through nearby forest preserved if dogs are well suited to this. I have my own 100+ pound white Lab who had a whole lot of energy when he was a puppy ,so I am familiar with how crazy the young ones (and older ones too) can get. Your pet is safe with me, (s)he will be treated like family, and as if (s)he were my own dog to love. I am currently a full-time MBA student and can be home full-time if needed. Potty breaks every few hours, or as requested by him/her. Lots of play time in between, as I always need an excuse to take a break from my studies... My family has had at least one dog almost my entire life, and I currently have my own 100+ pound white Lab, so I am capable to providing care as if it were my own dog. I have a fenced in yard that your dog will be allowed to go out to every few hours, or whenever he/she indicates the need. One neighbor does not have a dog, the other house does have a dog but is only outside for a few minutes at a time. I do have an alley behind my house where very rarely somebody in the neighborhood might walk their dog, but the strong chain link fence will keep them separate. Inside has miscellaneous stuff around the house that may be an issue if your dog chews items, but I can identify and remove any distractions deemed necessary. I have lots of toys and balls for your dog to play with, whatever he or she wants... In your home, I will follow any and every rule you establish. Whatever you say goes.
