“Justine was extremely generous with her time and provided a safe and loving environment for our senior dog who is 15 years old and blind. I did not want our dog to be in a setting with too many other dogs which would make him nervous and on top of that he takes medications. This was a family style setting and Justine and her family treated my dog like family. That’s the best quality experience you could ask for.”

“Kim and her family are the best! She gave updates and sent many pictures! Bailey was so happy and couldn’t wait to spend time with Kim! She even gave Bailey a Christmas gift! We will always book with Kim!”

“Izzy is the best! Sometimes we’ve had to book overnight boarding last minute, but she has always been available for us which helps us so much. She’s so kind and truly loves our fur baby Pippen. When we drive up, our normally nervous pup gets so excited. We feel so lucky to have met her!”

“Bottom line, yes. Absolutely, we would/will have Nelli watch Romeo again. She has a wonderful family that gave Romeo lots of attention and love and exercise. This made it so much easier for us to enjoy our vacation, knowing that Romeo was so well taken care of. Better still, their Cockapoo played with him too. New best friends.”

“Michelle did a wonderful job caring for my puppy, Mabel. She was an excellent communicator, kept me updated and sent the cutest photos throughout Mabel's stay. As anyone with a puppy knows, they can be full of energy and a little chaotic at times, but Michelle handled Mabel's craziness with patience and confidence.”

“Pebbles really enjoyed her stay with Sarah! Sarah was great at communicating and kept us updated with pics while we were away. Highly recommend and will be using Sarah again for our pup!”

“Fanny is an excellent person and dog sitter, very dedicated. She sent us a daily photo and message with updates about Max. They went on many walks and our cocker spaniel was so happy to be with her. I 100% recommend her, great area and very affordable! Thank you so much Fanny!”

“Nicole was great! We hadn’t had to leave our dog with anyone for awhile, so we wanted to make sure he was staying with someone who would make him feel comfortable. He stayed with Nicole for 3 nights, and she gave us updates (many photos included) throughout the day! We would definitely reach back out to her in the future :)”

“Candy spoiled my dog, he was well looked after and loved. I appreciated the updates and communication while we were away, and it was nice to be able to relay special care needs and instructions that were followed.”

“We boarded our two little girls with Lisa and her dog loving family. They have a lovely home with a large fenced backyard and they also walked our dogs which was a great treat. We could tell the girls were well taken of from the happy look on their faces from the photos Lisa sent. An owner knows when their dogs are pleased and delighted. We were so glad we found Lisa on Rover, you will be too.”
“We boarded our dog with Brittany for four nights and I can’t say enough good things about her and her family! Our dog is very shy and tends not to eat much when in unfamiliar environments, but Brittany did a great job of making him feel as ‘at home’ as possible, and was very patient with feeding attempts. She also was very proactive in sending updates and pictures (at least a couple times per day), and was very responsive when we reached out. I highly recommend Brittany for any dog sitting needs and will board with her again for sure.”

“This was Benji's first time with Pennie and it went really well. Pennie was great with Benji and I was comfortable leaving him with her. The meet and greet went well and Benji and her dog got along. She sent pictures and kept me posted on how Benji was doing over the course of the stay. We did an overnight as a trial to see how Benji adjusted and will use Pennie again for dog boarding.”

About: As a lifelong animal lover and experienced pet caregiver, I treat every pet as if they were my own. I understand that every dog has a unique personality, so I tailor walks, playtime, and care to meet their individual needs. Whether your pet loves adventures, belly rubs, or a quiet companion, I provide dependable, attentive care that helps them feel safe and happy while you're away. My goal is to give you peace of mind and your pet a fun, loving experience filled with plenty of attention and affection. In the summer, I have a very flexible schedule with plenty of availability for walks, drop-in visits, daycare, and overnight care. This flexibility allows me to provide pets with the attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I provide a calm, loving, and secure environment where pets can feel relaxed and at home while you're away. With years of experience caring for animals, you can trust that your furry family member will receive attentive care, plenty of affection, and close supervision.
“Heather and Israel were great - always responsive, let us know how things were going and our pup was adapting while we were gone for the weekend. Our flight was cancelled and they were so kind to watch our pup an extra night and be flexible with the pickup time. Our pup had so much fun and we will definitely use them again!”

“Many thanks to Phyllis and her husband for taking great care of our two dogs. They are great — very responsive, professional and loving! We look forward to seeing them at the end of the month when we are at a wedding!”

About: I have been a dog owner for the past 16 years (3 dogs over this time), and currently have a very dog-friendly Bichon frise who is used to playing with dogs of all sizes (her favorites are her size or somewhat larger). My two previous dogs (both Shih tzus) lived to 16 and 14 years, so I am well aware of how to care for more senior dogs. I have a great neighborhood and am happy to walk your dogs with mine. While I have only owned small dogs, I love all kinds of dogs and am happy to welcome yours into my home. I am happy to work with pet owners on any special routines, including sleep, medication and feeding (I have plenty of room in my refrigerator for any special food your dog might require). I currently work from home, so I have plenty of time to care for your dogs (frequent potty breaks, walks as desired, etc.). Occasionally I will have to leave to run errands or meet with clients, but I am rarely gone for more than 2-3 hours. Days that I anticipate being away for more than 3 hours are marked as unavailable on my calendar. I have a fenced yard and a friendly Bichon frise to keep your dogs company. While I prefer crate-trained dogs for times I need to be away briefly, I will welcome your dogs to roam about the house and yard when I am at home. I do have several spare crates for smaller dogs, although I have plenty of space for you to bring yours. I am happy to work with each individual dog owner regarding overnight routines.

I highly recommend Brent to anyone looking for a caring and reliable person to watch their dog. He has a wonderful family, and it was clear that they all helped care for Paffin and made sure he was always surrounded by attention and company. Brent stayed in touch with us throughout the entire stay, which made us feel very comfortable. They are genuinely kind and trustworthy people, and we are so happy we found them. We will definitely book with Brent again and recommend him to our friends.

Once again Jo’Elle knocked it out the park! Jo’Elle is a top notch sitter! We have no problem leaving Aggie with her. Jo’Elle is caring, accommodating and an all around amazing pup sitter! We’ve left Agatha with her several times through out the years, and will not hesitate to do it again! Thank you Jo’Elle!

Nicole was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Gus! She was incredibly responsive, sent lots of updates and photos throughout his stay, and took great care of all his medical diet needs. We feel so lucky to have found her in the neighborhood and already have Gus's next stay booked with her. Highly recommend!

Sayju was an amazing dog sitter! They took excellent care of our dog and made sure all of their needs were met. We appreciated the regular updates, photos, and the genuine care and attention they provided. It was clear that our dog felt comfortable, happy, and loved while we were away. Sayju was reliable, professional, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire experience. We would gladly trust Sayju with our dog again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and dependable pet sitter.

I'm so grateful to Candy and Charlie for hosting Molly for her first long stay away from home! Molly is uneasy in new environments, but she immediately warmed up to Candy and Charlie during our initial meet and greet. They treated her with love and kindness, so it was a huge relief to me to see her enjoying her stay. Candy and Charlie will always be my Rover sitter of choice for Molly!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
