About: With 6 years of hands-on experience working with dogs, I provide more than just pet sitting. My background includes training, walking, and caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities(even medical issues)—from young puppies to senior dogs. I have experience working with behavioral challenges and understand the importance of patience, structure, and positive interactions. My goal is to make every dog feel safe, understood, and cared for while giving owners peace of mind. I’m currently focusing more of my time and energy on animal care, which means I have greater availability and flexibility to provide attentive, dependable pet care. With 6 years of experience working with dogs through training, walking, and behavior-focused care, I’m available Monday–Friday from 10 AM–4 PM and committed to making sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I’m not currently offering boarding in my own home, but I do provide in-home boarding and overnight care at the client’s residence. I’m active, engaging, and make sure dogs get plenty of exercise, playtime, feeding, and attentive care while keeping their routine consistent.

Tim stayed with our pets for a week and did a great job! We have 3 dogs and 4 cats so it was a lot. Plenty of pics sent to us and followed instructions to a T. It was so nice to be able to take a family vacation with everyone and rest easy that our babies were in good hands!

Christian was excellent! We were leaving for 16 days which is always a bit nerve-wracking, but Christian really eased what could have been a huge burden for us! Christian took great care of our dog, treating her like one of the family. It really was great. I could see in the photos how happy she was. Additionally, Christian was tidy, very responsive, and all around a pleasure to work with. We will definitely hire Christian again!

Stephanie was so wonderful with my dogs. She was very communicative and sent pictures and let me know everything she was doing. It’s so appreciated when you leave your babies at home with someone new. She also left my home probably cleaner than I left it which was very sweet and thoughtful. I would definitely use Stephanie again.

Marilyn was absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. From the very beginning, she communicated exceptionally well, was incredibly organized, and immediately made me feel comfortable leaving my dog in her care. I have a senior Chihuahua who requires a lot of patience, understanding, and personal space, and Marilyn took the time to learn his personality and understand what he was comfortable with rather than trying to rush the process. It was clear that she genuinely cared about making him feel safe and secure. She kept me updated, was attentive to his needs, and handled him with so much patience and kindness. Knowing he was with someone who respected his boundaries and took the time to earn his trust gave me complete peace of mind. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Marilyn did an outstanding job, and I would absolutely book with her again.

We couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience with Daniela! From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease. She came by for a meet and greet, and our dogs, Jack and Gus, immediately loved her—it was clear she genuinely cares about animals. Daniela stayed in our home for six nights and arrived promptly after we left for the airport, giving us immediate peace of mind. She sent daily photos and updates, and it was obvious our dogs were getting plenty of love, attention, and companionship while we were away. Knowing they were so well cared for allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our trip. Daniela is trustworthy, communicative, and went above and beyond caring for our dogs and home. She even watered our little garden as well. We came home to two very happy pups and are so grateful for her. We will absolutely book Daniela again and highly recommend her!

I had to book a sitter for a week long international trip as our usual care fell through. My girl is elderly, on medication and sometimes behaviorally challenging so I was extremely nervous. Delilah was so calm and communicative throughout my entire trip and went the extra mile to ensure Ruby was happy and well taken care of. She even made sure the neighborhood cats and my plants were attended to! Having her ensured I was able to travel worry free, could not recommend her more.

She has been consistently reliable, trustworthy, and honest, which gives me complete peace of mind whenever Onyx is with her. It's clear that she truly loves animals, and Onyx is always happy and comfortable with her. She will always be my first choice for pet sitting, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone dependable, compassionate, and professional. Chloe exudes trustworthiness and competence. She's lovely to interact with, communicative every step of the way, and without a doubt one of the best pet sitters we've ever had. We could not be more grateful for Chloe and her expert handling of a worst-case scenario with our pet, Tulip. Our kitty Tulip had a life-threatening medical event while we were away, and we were so thankful that it was Chloe looking after her. At the first warning sign of Tulip's condition worsening, Chloe contacted us immediately and was prepared to use her good judgment to take her to the vet. She did end up having to take her in, and stayed up through the night keeping us informed with updates, all while balancing the care of our other cat, Lily. Chloe stayed calm and collected and was a source of reassurance throughout this pet parent's worst nightmare. Our sweet Tulip came out the other side okay, thanks to Chloe's quick thinking, her skill working with animals, and her excellent communication. Disaster was averted, and we can't thank her enough for it. If you're looking for someone to trust with your pet, it's Chloe.

Merilyn is the best there is! We had Merilyn sit for our dogs while we traveled out of town for the weekend. Let me paint the picture… Our dogs are velcro dogs and we are their emotional support humans lol so I was a little nervous leaving. Our dachshund can be standoffish around new people and I was nervous he wouldn’t love the idea of someone new. Incomes Merilyn! Our meet and greet was at the beginning of the month and we were set to leave a few weeks later. Merilyn was happy to come back the night before we left one more time before she stayed for the weekend so the dogs could remember her which made me feel so comfortable. Something I appreciated so much was her intuition and ability to read the dogs body language. She very much allowed our dachshund to adjust to her at his own pace. She engaged with him on his terms and before the day was done he was in love with her! While we were away, Merilyn provided us with updates, photos and videos of our dogs frequently without us having to ask her. If I checked in it was because I wanted to, not because I felt like she was MIA. Merilyn was also very flexible with us as our flight home was delayed due to bad weather, she had no issues with extra time and that was a huge stress reliever. When we returned home our dogs were walked, fed and the place was just as we left it. I would recommend Merilyn to anyone who wants someone to love their dogs like they do 🐶🥰 thanks Merilyn!

FAQs for House Sitting - Houston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Houston on Rover is $47.78 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,027 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Houston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Houston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Houston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Houston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Houston. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
