About: Hi! Life long animal lover. I’m a former private chef turned house sitter and currently a dog trainer student. With my children grown and a life of ease, house and pet sitting gives me exactly what I love most — purposeful connection, beautiful animals, and the privilege of caring for someone’s most important things while they’re away. I care for cats and dogs full time which allows me to be very flexible when it comes to your sitting needs. With a lifetime of experience caring for others, a professional standard built from years in hospitality and culinary arts, and a genuine love for animals that goes beyond a side hustle. As an empty nester my energy is calm, clean, and completely focused on whoever — and whatever — is in my care. No small children, no chaotic schedules, no distractions are part of my daily lifestyle. When your pets are with me they have my full attention, my full presence, and the kind of unhurried care that only comes from someone who actually wants to be there. What you can expect from me: — A hospitality-trained professional who treats your home with the same respect she’d want for her own — Consistent communication — updates, photos, and check-ins so you can actually enjoy your time away — A calm, experienced presence for animals of all temperaments — I understand animal behavior, I read energy well, and I don’t rattle easily--I'll be learning delving more into professional certified dog training and animal behaviorist soon. Did I mention that, "I love this lifestyle?" I do. — Someone who genuinely loves this — not as a gig, but as a natural extension of who I am. I pet sit full time. Therefore I'm free to travel and pet sit any hour or day. Last minute sits are welcomed. Reach out anytime. I am reliable, discreet, warm, and deeply committed to the trust you place in me when you hand over your keys. Your home and your animals will be in good hands. That’s not a promise I make lightly.

“Chloe exudes trustworthiness and competence. She's lovely to interact with, communicative every step of the way, and without a doubt one of the best pet sitters we've ever had. We could not be more grateful for Chloe and her expert handling of a worst-case scenario with our pet, Tulip. Our kitty Tulip had a life-threatening medical event while we were away, and we were so thankful that it was Chloe looking after her. At the first warning sign of Tulip's condition worsening, Chloe contacted us immediately and was prepared to use her good judgment to take her to the vet. She did end up having to take her in, and stayed up through the night keeping us informed with updates, all while balancing the care of our other cat, Lily. Chloe stayed calm and collected and was a source of reassurance throughout this pet parent's worst nightmare. Our sweet Tulip came out the other side okay, thanks to Chloe's quick thinking, her skill working with animals, and her excellent communication. Disaster was averted, and we can't thank her enough for it. If you're looking for someone to trust with your pet, it's Chloe.”

“Journey did an incredible job house sitting for us, sending us tons of updates and pictures. She is diligent and took great care of our dog and our cat. Will definitely be reaching out to her again!”

“Molly was very communicative and loving with my pup! She handled lots of medicines like a champ. I’m so grateful to Molly for looking after my girl while I was out of town.”

“We could not have asked for a better pet sitter! We were away for 17 days, which is a long time to leave our dogs and cat, but we felt completely at ease the entire trip. We received regular updates, photos, and messages that showed just how well our pets were being cared for. It was clear that our dogs and cat were happy, comfortable, and getting lots of attention. In fact, they looked like they were on vacation themselves! Seeing them so relaxed and content made it easy for us to enjoy our time away without worrying. The communication, professionalism, and genuine care for our pets exceeded all expectations. We are incredibly grateful and would absolutely trust them with our pets again. Highly recommend!”

“Kayla was amazing with our 3 high-maintenance Frenchies. She showed up on time, sent updates with photos, and made sure they got their care & meds as needed. We are so happy to have found her!”

“Shirlette took care of my cat Topaz over the holidays. I’m so thankful she was available! She kept me updated on how my cat was doing while I was away. I’ll definitely book her again in the future!”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and spent 6 summers working as a competitive dog trainer, where I had the opportunity to work with dogs of all different personalities, breeds, and energy levels. That experience taught me how to read dogs, understand their individual needs, and build trust with them through patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement. I grew up with dogs in my family and have always loved how naturally friendly, loving, and fun they are to be around. Now that I live in Houston away from my friends, family, and the dogs I grew up with, Rover feels like the perfect way to bring dogs back into my life while giving owners peace of mind that their pets are in experienced, caring hands. Whether your dog wants a long walk, some playtime, lots of cuddles, or simply a comfortable companion while you’re away, I’d love to spend time with them! I work full-time in Houston, so I’m typically available for dog sitting, walks, and drop-ins during evenings and on weekends. My schedule can vary a bit depending on work, but I’m happy to plan ahead and coordinate around your dog’s routine. I’m especially interested in weekend stays and sitting opportunities, but I also have flexibility for evening walks and drop-ins when I’m in town. I travel occasionally, so I keep my availability calendar updated and will always communicate my schedule clearly in advance. I’m looking forward to filling my free time with some four-legged friends! Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. My years of competitive dog training taught me how to read body language, recognize when a dog is uncomfortable or overstimulated, and adjust my approach to each dog’s personality and needs. I’ll follow your instructions closely, from feeding and medication routines to walks, house rules, and anything else that helps your dog feel at home. I also understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet and your home, so I’ll communicate consistently, provide updates while you’re away, and treat your space with the same care and respect I would my own. Most importantly, I want your dog to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away and for you to have complete peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands.
About: I have 15 years of experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. As a full-time veterinary technician, I work with pets every day and have experience recognizing signs of illness, administering medications, and helping animals feel safe and comfortable. I'm comfortable caring for: • Puppies and kittens • Senior pets • Large and small breeds • Anxious or shy pets • High-energy dogs • Pets with medical conditions • Pets recovering from hospitalization and surgery (following veterinarian instructions) Whether we're going for a walk, playing, sticking to a medication schedule, or simply spending time together, I make sure every pet receives individualized care and plenty of love. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know how your pet is doing. My ultimate goal is to attend veterinary school, so getting exposure to helping owners is one of my biggest passions. I treat every pet like they're family while giving you peace of mind that they're in knowledgeable, caring hands. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine because I work as a veterinary technician and genuinely enjoy spending my free time with animals. I'm available after work on weekdays and have greater flexibility on my days off for walks and drop-in visits. I make it a priority to provide reliable, attentive care that keeps pets comfortable and maintains their usual routine. When caring for pets in their own home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I carefully follow each owner's instructions regarding feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medications, and any special care their pet may need. I'm comfortable recognizing changes in a pet's behavior or health and can provide medication administration if needed according to your veterinarian's instructions. I always prioritize your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being while respecting your home and keeping everything clean and tidy! During each visit, I'll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and enrichment based on their personality and energy level. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for while you're away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and strive to build trust with both pets and their owners through reliable, compassionate care.
“Marilyn was absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. From the very beginning, she communicated exceptionally well, was incredibly organized, and immediately made me feel comfortable leaving my dog in her care. I have a senior Chihuahua who requires a lot of patience, understanding, and personal space, and Marilyn took the time to learn his personality and understand what he was comfortable with rather than trying to rush the process. It was clear that she genuinely cared about making him feel safe and secure. She kept me updated, was attentive to his needs, and handled him with so much patience and kindness. Knowing he was with someone who respected his boundaries and took the time to earn his trust gave me complete peace of mind. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Marilyn did an outstanding job, and I would absolutely book with her again.”

“Diamond was amazing! She is kind and patient, and has wonderful positive energy, and a bright personality. Thank you for being patient with my girl, and giving her a chance to get to know you. She’s already walked into the guest room multiple times looking for you. Lol It’s hard for me to trust her with just anyone, but you did such a wonderful job with her, that I can’t wait to book you again! A thousand thanks from me and Duchess. 🫶🏼”

“Ana did a tremendous job watching over our pups while we were out of town. She constantly kept us updated and shared pics letting us know they were in great hands. Would definitely book again, highly recommended!”

“Jamie was great. Impeccable balance of keeping us informed and updated without reminding us too frequently that our babies weren’t with us (which makes us sad). She took great care of our very spoiled girls, and she treated our home as of it were her own. We highly recommend!”

“Bailey took excellent care of our 3 senior dogs. She even watered our vegetable garden while we were away. Came home to a clean house and happy dogs. Could not have asked for more. Highly recommend.”

“Ashlyn was so so amazing with all of our dogs! We loved having her stay for the in-house boarding. We were gone for a four day trip to CA. She was super tidy, and cleaned our house very well before she left. She sent us updates along with pictures and videos everyday, which we loved. It was so nice to come home to a nice clean home and happy pups! We will definitely be rebooking with her for our next trip, and highly recommend her care! 😊”

“Ellie was an excellent dog sitter. Very responsive, provided great updates and pictures, Koda is a very happy boy. I recommend Ellie and will definitely book again with her.”

“Daniela was such a blessing! From day one she was very responsive and professional. I made her come to my house twice for meet and greet because i have two Dobermans and i needed them to get familiarized with her before my trip. She accomodated my last minute changes and made the whole experience so enjoyable. My dogs are very high maintenance and extremely velcro so i was worried it would be too much for Daniela but nope! Got so many pictures and updates that i didnt worry about my doggos (or my house) while i was on vacation. She went above and beyond and left the house even cleaner than how i left it. Even gave freyja a bath. Not ever booking with anyone else other than her :) happy with my first ever rover experience and very thankful i found her.”

“Sandi was an absolute godsend!! I’ve never left my pups alone with someone in my apartment and she alleviated everything single concern I had! Sent me all the pictures (some of which are truly professional quality) kept me updated and truly loved my dogs like they were her own. She also picked up and cleaned my apartment better than I had left it. I could NOT recommend Sandi more - now words to express how happy I am with everything!”

Shirlette did such an amazing job watching my two dogs! She made sure they were comfortable, well cared for, and truly went above and beyond during their stay. She was very attentive and kept me updated with lots of photos, which made me feel so much more comfortable being away from them. I could tell they were in great hands. I definitely recommend Shirlette to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!

We couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience with Daniela! From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease. She came by for a meet and greet, and our dogs, Jack and Gus, immediately loved her—it was clear she genuinely cares about animals. Daniela stayed in our home for six nights and arrived promptly after we left for the airport, giving us immediate peace of mind. She sent daily photos and updates, and it was obvious our dogs were getting plenty of love, attention, and companionship while we were away. Knowing they were so well cared for allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our trip. Daniela is trustworthy, communicative, and went above and beyond caring for our dogs and home. She even watered our little garden as well. We came home to two very happy pups and are so grateful for her. We will absolutely book Daniela again and highly recommend her!

I had to book a sitter for a week long international trip as our usual care fell through. My girl is elderly, on medication and sometimes behaviorally challenging so I was extremely nervous. Delilah was so calm and communicative throughout my entire trip and went the extra mile to ensure Ruby was happy and well taken care of. She even made sure the neighborhood cats and my plants were attended to! Having her ensured I was able to travel worry free, could not recommend her more.

Karli was wonderful from start to finish. I felt very comfortable with her taking care of my little cat while I was out of town. My apartment was in immaculate shape when I came back home as well. Definitely recommend her and plan on using her again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Houston on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 3,996 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Houston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Houston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Houston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Houston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Houston. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
