“5 Stars for Nelson! Nelson is hands down the best pet sitter out there! I recently had the absolute pleasure of trusting Nelson to care for my pets while I was away, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very start, he showed deep concern and thoughtful attention—not just to tasks, but to the emotional and physical well-being of my pets. He kept me consistently updated with sweet photos and messages, took initiative by changing the cat litter without being asked, and played wholeheartedly with the dogs. He even took Missy on multiple walks—completely unprompted—simply because he cared. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. What really blew me away is how Missy, who doesn’t warm up easily to people (especially men), loved Nelson. That’s practically a miracle in itself—and speaks volumes about his gentle energy, patience, and kindness. Nelson gave me genuine peace of mind. His heart, intuition, and respect for my pets’ personalities make him incomparable. If you’re looking for someone who goes above and beyond and truly gets animals, Nelson is the one. Missy already misses him—and honestly, so do I!”

“Darrius did a great job with our pups. One is very prickly and needs medicine. He did a great job of making sure she took her medication which is our main concern. He also let our bigger dog take his time outside even when the weather wasn't great. We will definitely use him again.”

“Jasmin has watched our dogs before and she always does such a great job. One of our dogs is on a raw diet with probiotics galore and she does great with all the instructions. Such a lifesaver to have her stay in our house as our senior dog has never stayed anywhere else. We are blessed to have found her as our go-to gal! She gets our mail and keeps our plants alive which is just an added bonus! Thank you!”

“Alexi was wonderful with our dog. Her communications were excellent, sending photos and videos. I also appreciate that my house was left in excellent condition. I would happily book Alexi again.”

“Jenny was amazing she gave me multiple updates everyday and sent me lots of pictures! My pup was very well cared for and loved having Jenny watch her. Highly recommended Jenny and will be using her again in the future!”

“Kaitlyn did a fantastic job. We had an older dog and a very hyper puppy and she was so good with both. She sent updates and pictures. We would use her again in a second.”

“Alex is amazing with our big lovable golden retriever! So nice to know Colt has a friend when we go out of town. Great communication and would have him dog sit anytime!”

About: My entire life, my home has been described as the neighborhood’s “local zoo.” From livestock to pocket pets, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals over the years. I’ve volunteered working hands-on with animals at the zoo, and currently care for two dogs, one cat, some small animals, and fish I’ve been pet sitting for over five years and have experience with many dog breeds, ages, and personalities. I focus on building trust, supporting positive behavior, and helping animals feel safe and comfortable in my care. I believe pets deserve to enjoy being animals—without unnecessary stress—while still feeling understood and respected by the humans around them. I’m currently a full time commuting student. My school hours will begin at 8am and end at 4:30pm most days. I will be available to feed and walk your pet before and after these timings. Weekends I am free with notice. Pets are allowed supervised free roam of my home. During the day, they will likely be confined to one room or a crate if needed while I’m at school. Pets will have unlimited access to water, other dogs to interact with, plenty of toys, etc.
“Ziaya was amazing! She took excellent care of my two dogs and made us feel completely at ease leaving her in our home. Highly recommend her services! She took them on multiple walks and gave us updates along the way. She’s the best!”

“Paul was the best dog sitter I've EVER had. He took such amazing care of my pups, updated me frequently, sent pictures and videos, and left my house in perfect condition. I'm SO glad I found him. I was able to go away on a work trip, knowing my dog's were in good hands. Thank you Paul!”

“Nicole rocks! Not only was she a great caretaker for our two (higher energy) dogs while we were out of town, but she was also really responsive and helpful when we ended up having some scheduling changes with delayed flights. It can be so stressful leaving your home and fur family to a person you don’t know well, but Nicole eased all of our anxieties and our girls loved her! She will definitely be my first call the next time we need some help.”

“Kyree was great with Titan and very responsive. She even put together the new bowls for him that were delivered while I was gone. Would recommend to anyone looking to find someone who will treat their pet like family.”

“Peggy has watched our dog and two cats twice now and I trust her implicitly! It is so nice to be able to leave and know our pets are in the best hands! Will always go to Peggy if she's available!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets of all kinds since I was a teenager. Dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles. I’ve worked in veterinary clinics, so I know how to care for seniors as well as special needs pets. I can also administer medications as needed. I work early mornings until 3pm, so I am available late afternoon and all evening to care for your babies. I’m available all day Friday and Saturday. I would prefer to care for your pet at your home. But I’m willing to make exceptions for small dogs to have them stay in my home. They would be crated while I am away.
“Elmer was amazing with my dog and sent frequent videos and photos. He also adjusted his schedule to accommodate a last minute change. I’m using him again next week because of his professionalism.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sugar Land
This was our second time having Kaitlyn watch our dog, and we couldn’t be happier! She took him on lots of walks, sent tons of pictures and updates, and it was obvious he was having the best time. Our dog absolutely loves her, and it’s such a relief knowing he’s excited to see her when we leave. Kaitlyn is always on time, communicates really well, and makes the whole process so easy. We never have to worry because we know he’s in great hands. We’d recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable who genuinely cares about your pet, and we’ll definitely keep booking with her!

I have never had such a great cat sitter in my life! She spent so much time with my pets, spent the night, and left my place spotless! Priya is extremely communicative and intelligent. She also managed a handoff of my dog with his boarding rover sitter while my flight was delayed. She’s the best!

Jasmin has watched our dogs before and she always does such a great job. Thank you!

TLDR: Four thumbs up, and four paws up for Zahra. Zahra did a terrific job watching our boys. She sent pictures and did an awesome job of communicating. At the risk of having to share our exceptional dog sitter, she really is pretty special. Please feel free to use her any time we aren't! By the way she has a terrific sense of humor and, bare-handed, fought off a chupacabra, just to protect our poor innocent puppers! PS the dogs helped write this review and the chupacabra has gone back to wherever chupacabras come from!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sugar Land
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sugar Land on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,422 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sugar Land. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sugar Land walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sugar Land maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sugar Land choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sugar Land. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
