5 Stars for Nelson! Nelson is hands down the best pet sitter out there! I recently had the absolute pleasure of trusting Nelson to care for my pets while I was away, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very start, he showed deep concern and thoughtful attention—not just to tasks, but to the emotional and physical well-being of my pets. He kept me consistently updated with sweet photos and messages, took initiative by changing the cat litter without being asked, and played wholeheartedly with the dogs. He even took Missy on multiple walks—completely unprompted—simply because he cared. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. What really blew me away is how Missy, who doesn’t warm up easily to people (especially men), loved Nelson. That’s practically a miracle in itself—and speaks volumes about his gentle energy, patience, and kindness. Nelson gave me genuine peace of mind. His heart, intuition, and respect for my pets’ personalities make him incomparable. If you’re looking for someone who goes above and beyond and truly gets animals, Nelson is the one. Missy already misses him—and honestly, so do I!

Kaitlyn was an absolute gem and made our weekend away completely stress-free! From the very first update, it was clear she truly cared about our dog and gave him the best possible time. She sent the sweetest, most detailed reports with adorable photos throughout the day. She went above and beyond, keeping him on a great routine and picking up after him so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. It’s obvious Kaitlyn is caring and responsible, and we felt like he was in the very best hands the entire time. We can’t recommend her enough! Thank you, Kaitlyn, for taking such wonderful care of our dog 💙

Jasmin has watched our dogs before and she always does such a great job. One of our dogs is on a raw diet with probiotics galore and she does great with all the instructions. Such a lifesaver to have her stay in our house as our senior dog has never stayed anywhere else. We are blessed to have found her as our go-to gal! She gets our mail and keeps our plants alive which is just an added bonus! Thank you!

About: My entire life, my home has been described as the neighborhood’s “local zoo.” From livestock to pocket pets, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals over the years. I’ve volunteered working hands-on with animals at the zoo, and currently care for two dogs, one cat, some small animals, and fish I’ve been pet sitting for over five years and have experience with many dog breeds, ages, and personalities. I focus on building trust, supporting positive behavior, and helping animals feel safe and comfortable in my care. I believe pets deserve to enjoy being animals—without unnecessary stress—while still feeling understood and respected by the humans around them. I’m currently a full time commuting student. My school hours will begin at 8am and end at 4:30pm most days. I will be available to feed and walk your pet before and after these timings. Weekends I am free with notice. Pets are allowed supervised free roam of my home. During the day, they will likely be confined to one room or a crate if needed while I’m at school. Pets will have unlimited access to water, other dogs to interact with, plenty of toys, etc.

Alexi was absolutely the best sitter/human being. We feel so blessed that she was our person while we were away. Our lab, Koa, loves her and we do too. She was very good about sending us updates throughout our trip along with pictures. We highly recommend her (but selfishly I don’t want to because we want to keep her to ourselves)😉 but know we can’t….she’s that special. She took great care of not only our beloved dog but also our house.

We are so grateful for Sophia's loving care, communication, and flexibility. Our sometimes anxious and fearful pittie took to Sophia immediately upon their first meet and greet, and our pup was happy and healthy upon our return. Sophia provided regular updates and responded immediately to all of our communication. When our flight was canceled, Sophia graciously agreed to stay another night with our dog, relieving a great deal of stress. She left the house in excellent condition. We hope that Sophia will be available to watch our dog during our next trip!

About: Hi! I’m a professional dog trainer with 6 years of hands-on animal experience. I’ve worked with dogs of different breeds, ages, and personalities, and I always focus on making each pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Animals have always been my passion, and I treat every pet like part of my own family. Whether I’m walking, training, or spending time with your dog, I bring patience, responsibility, and lots of love to every visit. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I structure my work schedule around my Rover bookings so I have dedicated time for walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship. I always make sure pets are let out, walked, and fed on a consistent schedule, and I don’t accept more bookings than I can safely handle. When I’m at work or school, I plan check‑ins before and after, and I’m available early mornings, evenings, and weekends to give your pet plenty of attention. Your pet’s needs come first, and I build my day around keeping them happy, safe, and comfortable. I have a fenced yard and your pet’s safety is my top priority. As a dog trainer with 6 years of animal experience, I’m confident handling different breeds, energy levels, and behaviors, and I always use secure leashes, harnesses, and crates when needed. In my home, your dog will be in a clean, pet‑friendly environment with plenty of space to relax and play. I also have a very friendly golden retriever who loves company and can be a great, gentle playmate for social dogs. I supervise pets at all times, introduce them slowly, and never put them in situations that feel unsafe or overwhelming. I’m reliable, communicative, and respectful of your pet’s routine, and I’ll send updates and photos so you always know how your dog or cat is doing.

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I provided dedicated senior care for my chocolate Labrador, Copper, who lived to the incredible age of 18. Today, I have two pit bull mixes that join me on hiking adventures throughout the year, and I even harness-trained my kitten for outdoor adventures. I treat every pet like family and understand that each has their own unique personality, needs, and routine. Whether they're energetic or need a little extra care, I'll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I am currently a wedding photographer in off season and have pretty good availability during the week for pet sitting. I typically work weekends but with enough notice and special occasions I'm flexible. I have one high energy dog and one older dog. So daily walks are a must. Sometimes separate and sometimes together. Our walks are typically 1 to 2 miles. I have two friendly dogs at home but I do have smaller home and a husband with allergies. So in my own home would probably be a case by case basis. As for other people's home's I'm flexible and respectful of house rules.

Leah took wonderful care of our dog, Nutmeg, while we were away for 10 days. She gave us complete peace of mind by providing daily updates with photos, which made it so reassuring to see how well Nutmeg was doing. Leah carefully followed all of the instructions we left and treated both Nutmeg and our home with great care and respect. It was clear that she genuinely cared about Nutmeg’s well-being, and we came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup and a house that was just as we left it. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would absolutely book Leah again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable to care for their pets.

About: As a dog co-parent, I’ve taken care of my roommates dogs for many years. I’m always kind and gentle, and bring a calm presence while still being joyful, fun loving, and energetic for play time! I’m returning to school so I’m available mornings Monday and most evenings through Friday. Since school hasn’t started I’m free most days, just send me a message! I prefer to care for pets in their homes where they have full access to their toys, comfy couches, food and favorite spots near the window. I build in plenty of time for cuddles and play time and of course time walks!

Monika house-sat for our Husky, Pitbull and our cat for 17 nights while we were overseas, and she was outstanding. Daily photo updates without us asking, consistent cleaning and feeding schedules, and all animals were calm and healthy when we got home — which says everything after two-plus weeks. Zero worries the entire trip, and for an international trip that peace of mind is worth more than the booking fee. We'll rebook her without hesitation.

This was my first experience with Rover, and I’m truly so impressed. My dog unexpectedly had surgery, and I needed to hire someone to watch him when I attended a wedding to ensure he didn’t scratch/lick his wounds as he is a little MacGyver and manages to get out of every cone known to man. Insert Britteny saving the day! She was willing to help with a last minute request, and she was SO attentive to Benny. She sent me so many pictures which eased my anxiety so much, and gave Benny his pain and antibiotic medication regimen without any hiccups. She graciously accepted every request I had, and went above and beyond. The proof was really the fact that in many of the pictures, Benny is curled up cuddling Britteny. I would absolutely recommend Britteny for any of your dog walking/watching needs! Both Benny and I can’t wait to ask for her help again soon.

FAQs for House Sitting - New Territory

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in New Territory on Rover is $48.15 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 3,263 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Territory. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Territory walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Territory maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Territory choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Territory. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
