“Kyree was great with Titan and very responsive. She even put together the new bowls for him that were delivered while I was gone. Would recommend to anyone looking to find someone who will treat their pet like family.”

“Alex was great! He was so flexible with our schedule, always kept us updated, and was so accommodating throughout everything. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our pets were in good hands.”

“Nelson was great with my pups! They had a great time. He updated me frequently with pictures. He even set up a kennel for me and cleaned up before he left. I will use Nelson again!”

“Elmer was amazing! Our regular sitter wasn’t able to watch our dogs and finding someone new to trust is always a little stressful, but he made the whole process very easy. He was personable, sent daily photos and videos where our dogs looked so happy, and we came back to a clean house. It gave us so much peace of mind while we were away! Would definitely use him again”

“Ziaya was amazing! She took excellent care of my two dogs and made us feel completely at ease leaving her in our home. Highly recommend her services! She took them on multiple walks and gave us updates along the way. She’s the best!”

“Jenny was amazing! She had great communication with us the whole time. We knew our pups were well taken care of by their demeanor when we returned. They were so calm. We have already rebooked her!”

“Geneva was assumed with Pepper and beans. Being very tentative with them when it came to feeding and being let out. Also spending some social time with them. Ill def recommend and hire again for future vacations.!!!”

About: I've taken care of animals since i was a child. From dogs to cats I've gained experience working, playing with and taking care of pet animals. Majority of my experience is with dogs of all sizes and breeds. Currently I am in the process of getting a full time job, so I'll be able to take care of your pups all day on my days off and before and after I work! I prefer to care for pets in their home where they are comfortable, in the exact way the client does when they take care of their pets. If the client has a set routine, then I'll follow it, otherwise I care for the pets by making sure they potty, eat food, playtime/go for a walk and clean any messes they may make.
About: I’m a huge animal lover that has been surrounded by dogs my whole life. Me and my wife share 2 pups! Kobe and Kona! My sweet girl Kona is 13 years old is the kind of dog that needs a bit more love and patience than most, so i’m great with paying close attention to a dogs behavior and getting to know what exactly makes them tick. With Kona being a senior dog with allergies and hip problems, I understand the slower care a senior dog needs. Kobe on the other hand is a silly boy that wants belly scratches from everyone. He is 1 years old and is still an energetic puppy! Getting to know your fur baby in a personal sense on its own time/terms gives me the confidence I need to believe that I will be a great dog walker and caregiver for your fur baby! I’m currently not working a full time job so I have a lot of time to care for your fur baby as needed! Mostly available for walks and sitting in the afternoon and evenings. I live in a larger 2 bedroom apartment with a big dog park and lots of walking and grassy areas surrounding me! I have 2 dogs, my senior dog sleeps the days away as she has hip problems and cannot run like she used to, and my puppy loves to play and share his toys and treats with all of his fur friends! Your dog will be given the most love and attention its heart desires! I live with my wife but she will not be caring for your fur baby.
“So thankful we found Rayven! We have a reactive dog so leaving him is very stressful. Rayven was amazing with our 2 dogs and our house. We will for sure be using her for all future trips. Highly highly recommend! She sent photos and videos and communicated the whole trip. Came home to our house actually cleaner than when we left. Rayven is a true treasure and we are so thankful for how much love she gave our babies while we were gone.”

About: I have been taking care of dogs over 10+ years! From family dogs to working at two pet resorts as well! My experience with dogs range from Pomeranians to pitbulls and cane Corsos! I have watched single dogs to managing packs of dogs as well (5+), and while maintaining a fun and relaxed environment for dogs, but also a safe environment! I will be busy with class from 11-3:30, but can walk dogs before or after then! I am completely free on the weekends as well! And it varies per day on my availability (depending on the time of my class, I might get out earlier!) In my clients home I will follow the schedule the owner provides! I will make sure no harmful food or toys are out as well, providing a fun and safe environment for the dog(s)!
About: I have taken care of dogs and cats as long as I can remember. I have always had a love for all animals and love to spend my spare time caring for them. I have been watching my friends and family’s pets for years and would love to meet your furry friends and care for them when life gets busy or you want to take a trip. I have taken multiple dogs and cats off the streets and cared for them until I was able to find them loving homes. I have a flexible hybrid schedule so I am able to adjust to take care of your pets as needed . I’m available for house sitting on the weekends! I love to care for all animals and give them the care they need while their parents may be busy. I always make sure to send plenty of photos and updates.
“Oceana is very reliable and attentive to detail. She took great care of our lab and home while we were away! I would highly recommend her for house/pet sitting and all your pet care needs.”

“Skyler was great, he was able to step in and watch our boys at the last second when our other sitter fell through. Caring for both a puppy and older dog with health issues at the same time is not an easy task and he did it with ease.”

“Sara house- and dog-sat for our two dogs during a 2-week trip abroad. It was the longest we've been away from our dogs and we were nervous about leaving them for so long, but Sara was fantastic and I would highly recommend her. She communicated very well throughout the trip and when we returned home the dogs were and happy and healthy and the house was exactly as we'd left it. We'll absolutely use Sara again and recommend her to anyone looking for house sitting or pet care.”

“Jasmin has watched our dogs before and she always does such a great job. One of our dogs is on a raw diet with probiotics galore and she does great with all the instructions. Such a lifesaver to have her stay in our house as our senior dog has never stayed anywhere else. We are blessed to have found her as our go-to gal! She gets our mail and keeps our plants alive which is just an added bonus! Thank you!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fifth Street walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fifth Street maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fifth Street choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fifth Street. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
