“Alex is amazing with our big lovable golden retriever! So nice to know Colt has a friend when we go out of town. Great communication and would have him dog sit anytime!”

“Kaitlyn did a fantastic job. We had an older dog and a very hyper puppy and she was so good with both. She sent updates and pictures. We would use her again in a second.”

“Jenny is the best house sitter we ever had. She took extraordinary care of our two dogs and one cat, sending plenty of pictures and videos so we could see how happy they all were. She also left the house in immaculate condition. We will definitely use her again. She's amazing!!”

“Elmer was amazing with my dog and sent frequent videos and photos. He also adjusted his schedule to accommodate a last minute change. I’m using him again next week because of his professionalism.”

“Kyree was great with Titan and very responsive. She even put together the new bowls for him that were delivered while I was gone. Would recommend to anyone looking to find someone who will treat their pet like family.”

“5 Stars for Nelson! Nelson is hands down the best pet sitter out there! I recently had the absolute pleasure of trusting Nelson to care for my pets while I was away, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very start, he showed deep concern and thoughtful attention—not just to tasks, but to the emotional and physical well-being of my pets. He kept me consistently updated with sweet photos and messages, took initiative by changing the cat litter without being asked, and played wholeheartedly with the dogs. He even took Missy on multiple walks—completely unprompted—simply because he cared. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. What really blew me away is how Missy, who doesn’t warm up easily to people (especially men), loved Nelson. That’s practically a miracle in itself—and speaks volumes about his gentle energy, patience, and kindness. Nelson gave me genuine peace of mind. His heart, intuition, and respect for my pets’ personalities make him incomparable. If you’re looking for someone who goes above and beyond and truly gets animals, Nelson is the one. Missy already misses him—and honestly, so do I!”

“Ziaya was amazing! She took excellent care of my two dogs and made us feel completely at ease leaving her in our home. Highly recommend her services! She took them on multiple walks and gave us updates along the way. She’s the best!”

“We could not be more pleased with Geneva! She did a great job for us and Ted and we intend to use her again. She was very professional, courteous, communicative, and timely. We were impressed!”

“Briana took such great care of our dogs. Both rescues and can be a bit high maintenance especially with storms, separation anxiety, etc. Briana followed our instructions super closely & was SUPER communicative. I will 100% be booking with her again!!!!!”

“Great experience with Katie. Dogs loved her, very professional and kept our minds at ease while we were on vacation. She stayed at our house for two nights and could not have gone smoother.”

About: I've loved and cared for dogs for most of my life and understand that every pet deserves patience, attention, and lots of love. Friends and family have trusted me to care for their dogs while they're away, including feeding, walking, playtime, maintaining their daily routines, and providing companionship. I've also cared for dogs that needed extra attention, closely monitoring their health and keeping their owners updated throughout their stay. I treat every pet as if they were my own and strive to provide a safe, calm, and loving environment so you can travel with peace of mind. I work full-time during the weekdays, but I have flexibility to provide attentive care before and after work, as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays. I make pet care a priority and will ensure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and affection while you're away. I'll also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind. I understand that every pet has unique needs and routines, and I take the time to learn what makes them feel comfortable and secure. Whether caring for your pet in your home or mine (if applicable), I'll follow your instructions carefully, maintain a clean and safe environment, and treat your pet with the same love and attention I'd give my own. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet.
“Paul did such a wonderful job taking care of our boys and our house! He was very attentive and responsive and left absolutely no trace behind other than going above & beyond and even taking the garbage out. He sent us lots of photos and our dogs seemed to love having Paul at the house. We’ll definitely be having Paul back any time!!”

“Gabriela was great with our pups! She made sure they were kept fed, calm and with company. We really appreciated her taking them for a walk as well. The house was kept in great condition. Will rebook her in the future. Thanks, Gabriela!”

“Sebastian was such a life saver when it came to watching my dog! He was extremely flexible and responsive. He sent photos and videos each day. I’ve never felt so comfortable with someone watching Hercules for me! My dog gets very anxious when I got out of town and usually is sick by the time I got back but that didn’t happen at all with Sebastian! My dog was just as happy and healthy as he was when I left and I was gone for over a week. I would highly highly recommend Sebastian to anyone needing a dog sitter!”
“Darrius did a great job with our pups. One is very prickly and needs medicine. He did a great job of making sure she took her medication which is our main concern. He also let our bigger dog take his time outside even when the weather wasn't great. We will definitely use him again.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fifth Street walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fifth Street maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fifth Street choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
