“Geneva was assumed with Pepper and beans. Being very tentative with them when it came to feeding and being let out. Also spending some social time with them. Ill def recommend and hire again for future vacations.!!!”

“Kyree was great with Titan and very responsive. She even put together the new bowls for him that were delivered while I was gone. Would recommend to anyone looking to find someone who will treat their pet like family.”

“Zariah did a great job watching our girls, including dealing with one's upset belly during the first few days of our weeklong trip. Lots of communication and she stayed at our house for basically the entirety of the time we were away. A+, Zariah!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Elmer! From the moment we connected, his communication was excellent—he kept me updated regularly with messages, photos, and videos of my cat and dog, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Not only did he take wonderful care of my pets, but he also went above and beyond by looking after my home. When I returned, the house was even better than when I left it—clean, organized, and clearly treated with care. Elmer is truly one of a kind: trustworthy, responsible, and 100% reliable. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable and compassionate pet sitter. He’s the best!”

About: I have taken care of my dog for 11 years and I treated her like my own daughter until she passed away lately. I have also taken care of my cat for 7 years. I picked him and his siblings up at the side of the street. I gave his siblings to my relatives and I kept one without the tail. He became my baby cat ever since. I'm currently working at home, so I have a plenty of time to play with your pups and kitten! I can work from 8-9am till 3-4pm. I can well take care of your dogs or cats all the time at your home. To make sure of them not getting hurt, not hungry, not thirsty, or not messy around.
“We absolutely loved Nadia!! She took amazing care of all 4 of our fur babies! She made sure to update us every step of the way and send us some cute pics! Our fur babies LOVED her! 1000% will rebook with her and would recommend her as a sitter to anyone! We are so thankful for the wonderful care over thanksgiving! Thank you again Nadia!”

“Extremely happy with how well Helen takes care of our boys! She’s very communicative and provided lots of pictures and videos of the dogs. I really appreciate having so much peace of mind while being out of town and we will continue booking with Helen when we need someone to dogsit!”

About: love dogs! I own a Bernese mountain dog and she is my entire world. Would love to help care for your fur baby like I care for mine. I have a flexible schedule and can accommodate almost any walk or drop in as necessary. I can also do weekends if needed and don’t require crazy amount of notice. I have a fence in yard with space for dogs to run and play. I wouldn’t take a dog outside in the middle of the day due to the extreme heat. As a dog owner myself I take the comfort and temperature of dogs very seriously
“We felt really comfortable leaving our home and pups with Reagan and we will be asking her to stay again! She communicated well, was punctual, and followed the instructions that we left. She sent pictures while we were away and we returned to happy pups and our home just the way we left it 😊”

“My dogs love love Sara! I was able to actually relax on my vacation knowing they were in great hands. She was so accommodating with the picture sending and my dog mom anxieties. I will definitely be booking her anytime I go on a trip!”

“Gladiola was great! Very communicative, reliable, and great with my cat and dog. I got loads of pictures, regular updates, and both pets were well taken care of. I'd be happy to have her petsit again next time I'm out of town.”

“We are new to Houston and this was our very first time using Rover, so we were a little nervous leaving our dog while traveling out of the country. Siyu completely exceeded our expectations! She stayed in our home and cared for our pup as if she were her own. We received regular updates and tons of pictures, which gave us such peace of mind and made us feel connected while away. Most importantly, our dog absolutely loved her and was so well cared for. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and highly recommend booking Siyu. She will definitely be our go-to sitter for all future trips!”

About: I currently work as a pet sitter with dogs and cats of all sorts of personalities. This experience has honed my ability to accurately interpret animal body language and proactively adjust my approach to meet the unique emotional and physical needs of each pet. I provide different services for them such as strictly dog walking, pet taxi, enrichment, potty breaks, and overnight stays! I have a dog myself that has recently undergone leg surgery. I have experience administering medications, and everything it requires to help him and other dogs recover. I have also sought out dog training for my own dog, and have learned a lot about tips and tricks. I pet sit as of right now, with flexible clients, with lots of free time in between clients. Most of my clients travel for work, therefore my schedule is sporadic. I deliver tailored pet care services structured entirely around your specific instructions and your pet's established routine. By mirroring your exact approach to your pet's daily life, I ensure a seamless, stress-free transition that maintains their comfort, safety, and happiness while you are away. Whether it is active engagement, companionship, routine feeding, or medication administration. Ultimately, my continuous aspiration is to deliver the absolute best service to your pet and complete peace of mind to you.
“Rayven is great! she took care very well of my 3 pets and my house. She was always looking after their well-being and I will highly recommend her and work with her again! Thanks Rayven!”

“Desdrianneja was an amazing sitter, especially for taking such a last minute booking. Holiday travel plans changed and we ended up not having someone available. She took our booking at the absolute last minute and didn’t even bat an eye. She was punctual on check-ins with our cats, and went out of her way to keep an eye on our shyer cat who likes to hide. She helped clean up litter boxes and trash on her way on and overall was a perfect fit. Would book again.”

“Natalia was amazing with Stoops! I got home and he was relaxed and not anxious. Natalia did such a good job with keeping his routine and got along very well with Stoops. Would absolutely recommend for long stays.”

About: I have taken care of pets for neighbors, friends, and family for multiple years. I have pet sat for dogs and cats of all sizes and ages. I am extremely reliable and ensure that I send updates and pictures to pet owners while they are away. Along with pet-sitting duties, I am more than happy to complete any necessary house-sitting duties, including but not limited to checking the mail, taking out the trash, cleaning floors, and doing dishes/laundry. I am a college student at the University of Houston. This semester, my class schedule is spaced out, with class not starting until 10 am and ending before 5 pm. I also have multiple breaks throughout the day. This flexibility allows me to house sit/pet sit without leaving the pets alone for too long. If necessary, I can check in on your pets at least every four hours. I have my own vehicle, so commuting to campus and back is easy. I try to adapt my services to the needs and routine of the household. If your dog likes frequent walks and enrichment time, I will make it a priority to be present and interactive. If your pet gets anxious and needs someone calm to check in on them, I am your girl.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Almeda
We booked Mateo to stay at our house with our dogs while we were out of town for a week. He did a great job taking care of our dogs and left our house just as we had left it. He was very communicative and sent frequent updates. I would have him watch our dogs again.

Excellent service. Sarah is the sweetest. We were traveling through Houston in a motor home and took in an Astros game. We were apprehensive about leaving Cali and Chloe, our two basset hounds alone. Sarah was perfect. If you are traveling and need a pet sitter, we can highly recommend Sarah

We cannot say enough amazing things about Ines! She watched both of our dogs and took absolutely immaculate care of our home while we were away. Communication was fantastic—we loved getting updates and the personalized daily photos, which gave us total peace of mind. Beyond just standard pet sitting, Ines went above and beyond by helping train our 1-year-old French Bulldog pup during her stay! It is so rare to find a sitter who is not only incredibly responsible with your home, but also possesses the genuine skill and patience to work on puppy training. We came home to very happy, well-behaved pups and a spotless house. We will absolutely be booking Ines again!

Kyndall was what we've been looking for. Very sweet yound lady with a passion for animals and their well being. My 11 year old Canary Mastiff is a grouch and very standoff'ish when it comes to new people around him. He almost immediately warmed up to Kyndall. She sent plenty of pics of either him playing with her or just lounging around. She is definitely my go to moving forward. I'd recommend Kyndall 11 out of 10 times!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Almeda walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Almeda maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Almeda choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Almeda. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
