I’ve trained dogs in flyball, obedience, and everyday manners and am comfortable caring for dogs with a variety of needs. I work from home and live here full-time, so your dog will have plenty of companionship and supervision throughout the day. I do step out occasionally for errands or personal time, but I’m home the vast majority of the time, day and night. Because I work from home, my household is best suited for dogs who are comfortable settling down between play and activity. My own dogs enjoy some playtime, but they are also very good at relaxing when it’s time to be quiet. While I’m working, I need everyone to be able to settle calmly in the house or in their crate. For most dogs, this means being crate trained—not just comfortable going into a crate, but able to relax and settle there when needed. I’m happy to provide breaks and attention throughout the day, with potty/play breaks typically in the morning, around lunchtime, and in the evening. I don’t leave dogs unattended in the backyard, so outdoor time is supervised. Walks are usually once a day, weather permitting, generally in the evening but sometimes in the morning. My home tends to be the best fit for dogs with a lower energy level or those on the calmer end of moderate energy. Younger or playful dogs can absolutely be a good fit if they know how to settle between activities, respect personal space, respond well to redirection, and can relax independently.
