About: I've had pets my entire life. I'm retired now and travel extensively for part of the year, so I'm unable to have pets of my own and thought this would be a great way to keep busy while I am in town. I have a doggy door and a large, gated backyard for games of fetch or hide and seek. I will provide a safe, loving home while you are away or drop-in if you so choose. When I'm in NOLA, I often work part-time from home. I'm retired so you could call me a homebody, and I'm often found working in my garden. In the fourth quarter of the year, I do travel until thanksgiving but will keep my calendar here updated. I am relatively flexible with scheduling. My son recently moved and took his Boston Terrier with him, so there are no longer any pets in my home. I have a large, fenced yard perfect for games of hide-and-seek or fetch, and I'm often in the back as well working on my garden. I do not have any plants that would present a danger. I love to take long, daily walks on the levee, which is only two blocks away...and would love to bring your pet along! I often have family visit, who also love pets.

About: I have always had dogs in my life. Currently I am home to 3 medium sized pups. I have owned, rescued, and fostered dogs. I have also volunteered time at the animal shelter walking the dogs, and have participated in several pet adoption days. I own three dogs. I work in outside sales. My office is my home. Except for occasional face to face meetings, I am home most of the day. I am also physically fit and enjoy dog walks around my neighborhood, levee, and park. I am home to three amazing pups. I have a fenced in yard with plenty of room for dogs to run. We also live by the levee which dogs really enjoy walking along. My dogs are my children and are kept indoors. They are allowed on our furniture, which is kept clean with covers and regular cleaning. They have a scheduled feeding time twice a day. I do have two kennels 3 & 4 feet high that can be placed indoors or outdoors, if need be. I also have small kennels for tiny furry friends that stay with us, or for transportation.

About: Hello there! My name is Anika and I used to be a pet caregiver on Rover a while ago when I was going through college, but decided to reactivate my account to come back on board! A little bit about myself... I received my Master's Degree from LSU and have been working in my career field for a few years now, but I still very much enjoy spending time with animals and thought that continuing with Rover was a great way to be able to spend time with animals while making an extra income on the side! I am currently working at a local hospital. Therefore, although I am newly back on Rover, I have been with Rover in the past. I am also a go-to foster and volunteer for several local rescue groups, so I have experience with all types of animals (mainly cats and dogs) and welcome all. I also often help train dogs for animal rescue organizations to get them ready for their new loving forever homes. I have also grown up with animals my whole life and my sweet beloved senior dog recently passed away; my "soul dog" as some may say. I had him for a little over 13 amazing years. However, being able to work with and volunteer with animals has really been great, which is why I definitely wanted to continue with Rover again. About: My family rescued our first dog, April from the local dive bar when I was six years old. According to the vet, April was just two weeks. She had been separated from her mother at birth and hadn’t even opened her eyes yet. My parents worried she'd be too much trouble. I begged to keep her and promised I'd take care of her. April became my sister, my best friend, and my greatest teacher. I fed April from a bottle, taught her how to walk up the stairs, and took her to puppy training classes. April taught me the practice of presence, and the value of unconditional love. Our time spent together makes up some of my most cherished childhood memories. At the age of 13, pet-sitting became my first job. I loved it so much, I didn’t even understand how it could be considered a job. I took care of the animals, and the animals took care of me. In my decade+ of pet-sitting, I’ve worked with a range of breeds, ages, and temperaments. Walking 100lb. pitbulls with fear aggression. Administering medication to seniors. Feeding finicky rescued stray cats. I even fostered and re-homed an abandoned puppy that found me on the beaches of Costa Rica. I can confidently claim that I’ve never once had an animal “reject” me as their caretaker, and I think that says a lot. In the last 6 years, I’ve been living and traveling as a digital nomad. About: I started my animal care experience working for the Audubon Science and Nature center in animal husbandry by caring for native and exotic animals, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians in outreach and environmental education! My husband and I cared for wild, rehabilated, exotic, domestic and farm animals throughout our careers.
