Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in your home, I will ensure to keep their favorite routines and habits as much as possible. They will get lots of one-on-one time, attention, and enrichment. I familiarize myself with their environment to ensure their comfort and confidence while you're away and will communicate any changes in behavior. I charge a higher rate for overnight stays because I limit care appointments with other clients and keep my own personal calendar limited to ensure your pets get the focused attention they need while you're away. For safety reasons, I do not take dogs to off leash dog parks or allow them off leash in public spaces, however I will take them on long walks and fun places close by when appropriate, and make sure they get exercise and playtime at home.

Information Aura B. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any particular fears, anxieties, or reactive behavior triggers so I know if there's any situations we can either avoid or provide extra comfort. Dietsry restrictions are important to know but also please let me know if they have favorite treats and snacks or places they like to visit while out on a walk. What are their daily routines? Do they like having the TV or music left on for them? Is there a favorite toy or game they particularly enjoy?I aim to keep things as normal as possible for them while you're gone so that they have a sense of safety and comfort.

A typical day

We'll start the day with their breakfast and potty routine along with any morning medications they might need. Then it's time for morning enrichment catered to your pets' specific preferences and needs. Maybe that's a walk to the nearby coffee shop where they know the barista who always gives them a treat. Or maybe your dog prefers cuddle time watching TV on the couch. We'll also take some time to play if that's appropriate. Some time in the mid day or afternoon they'll get another walk/let outside/visit depending on their routine and then we'll do it all again in the evening, when I will also incorporate any other needed care like brushing coats and spend some time winding down with them after playtime to help them settle down for the night.

Caring Attention

Pet care experience

A pet lover since childhood, I often ran around the neighborhood rescuing kittens and loved walking my neighbor's dog when they were out of town. Later I was a veterinary receptionist for 5 years. While in New York City, I frequently cared for cats and some dogs during holidays and other travel times, both as in home house sitter and for drop in visits. I have experience with special needs cats and finicky dogs. I can administer meds and basic first aid including some injections and diabetes blood sugar tests, and am trained to recognize signs of emergency distress early. I also completed a pet first aid certification from the Red Cross. But what's most important to me, and your pet, is that I provide them with lots of attention, comfort, and care, so that they feel safe, happy and engaged while their people are away.

I can always depend on Aura to take great care of Sebastian. He absolutely loves her and I love how she spoils him while I’m away.

My cat is my whole world. Aura took such great care of her while I was out of town. My cat loved her and she was super fast with communication. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable person to help with their pet.
