Christina is the best! I know that three dogs can intimidate most people but her gentle and understanding attitude put my babies at ease instantly upon meeting. She shared many pictures with me of my babies and you could tell that they were comfortable and happy with her company. I would highly recommend her.

As always Caitlin took good care of Lola while we were out of town. She made sure to feed her and take care of cleaning out the litter box. Lola also received plenty of belly rubs and pets in our absence.

I had a great experience working with Russell. He was friendly, professional, and very accommodating, even agreeing to watch my cat while taking care of 4 other animals for the holiday. He clearly cares about pets, and did a great job with my cat (although my cat doesn't have any special needs). I would certainly ask him to help out again.

Sage claimed he didn’t have any experience with cats but he took care of Sophie without a hitch. He is courteous, punctual and dependable and provided all the care and nurturing she needed. His report cards showed a contented cat, and he was considerate in keeping our home neat. We will gladly ask Sage to come care for Sophie in the future.

Sarah is amazing! She did an hour long drop in for my 4 senior dogs, one of whom is special needs and needs his bladder expressed. It’s very comforting to know that a caring, competent pet sitter is checking in on our babies while we’re at work. She sends great updates in the report card and cute pics!!

About: My daughter and I would love the opportunity to care for your dog(s) while you’re away. We have been providing pet care through Rover for the past three years and have had a wonderful experience doing so. I also have many years of hands-on experience with dogs—I grew up with them and have continued to care for dogs throughout adulthood. My 16-year-old daughter has been around dogs her entire life. Our dog, Charm, has been hers since she was five years old, and she has helped care for her ever since. She has also looked after dogs for friends and family, and she truly enjoys giving them attention and care. Pet sitting is also a meaningful way for her to save toward college. We currently have Charm, a 17-year-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix who mostly keeps to herself. We are a dog-loving family and take pride in making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. We will treat your dog like part of our family, so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind. It would be our pleasure to care for your pet, and we appreciate your trust. For boarding, we kindly ask that dogs are: • Up to date on vaccinations, for the safety of all pets • Potty trained • Not prone to chewing household items Please pack your dog’s food, along with any favorite toys, blankets, treats, or other comfort items to help make their stay feel like home. We look forward to meeting you and your lovely dog(s). Have a blessed day! When we have pets in our home, someone will always be around. They get plenty of time to enjoy the backyard, and we take them for a walk most evenings. If they enjoy playing fetch, we’re always happy to spend some time playing with them. We treat every pet like they’re my own! ensuring they’re safe and comfortable. We give them plenty of love, attention, playtime, and exercise. I also keep owners updated with photos and messages so they know their pets are happy and well cared for.

About: I have had several dogs growing up. I had a boxer when I was grown and working full time. A couple named Sharon and Phil that my mom introduced to me, watched my dog for a small fee for me because I worked so much. I do stay busy, but every now and then I have some time that I could take care of a dog. Instead of owning a dog, I would like to help out with someone like I was helped in the past because I know the feeling of needing someone to watch a dog for you when you are busy. I feel like I returning the favor that my friends did for me, but for someone else. I have taken care of family pets while they went on trips or were out of town. I fed the dogs, let them outside, and walked dogs before. I still do work alot. I work Monday through Friday until like 3:30pm. Sometimes I work on Saturdays until like 3:30 as well. But just message me and I will see what I can do possibly when I get off work in the evenings. Bottom line is I like being around and taking care of dogs sometimes. I have some availability, but not full availability. I do have a fenced in yard and may welcome a dog into my house. But I prefer to meet the pet and owners first to decide. It depends on the situation, but I would be interested in sitting at the owners home as well. I would be willing to sit, feed, walk, and/or just take the dog outside to use the bathroom when needed.

About: I’ve had plenty of experiences with both dogs and cats over the years. From feeding medications, to daily walking, to taking care of my own dog, I’ve always had a genuine heart for animals. I’m currently flexible, I am an ultrasound student at the university, looking for part-time side gigs for furry ones! I can usually make any time work with a 1-2 day notice. I treat every animal like they’re my own. Anything I can do to make your furry friend more comfortable, I can do. Meeting them beforehand is helpful to gain trust

About: I’ve had my own dog since I was 4 years old. I have my old man Alpha(14) left, the one that has been with me through my 20s, if you know you know. I have about 6 years of pet sitting experience, and in that that I have learned so much. Every day and every new client is an opportunity to learn, but I can say, I have dealt with some crazy scenarios to say the least. Having a pet is truly like having a child and everyone deserves a peace of mind. I hold myself to such a high standard because I know what it is to be a true pet parent. I am a server so during the summer things slow down a lot, allowing me to have a very open schedule. Even during the busy season, my schedule remains flexible, especially in the earlier parts of the day. I try to base my schedule around the pets to the best of my ability, all further details can be discussed in a consultation. I have criteria that a dog has to check to ensure it will be safe and comfortable in my home before we even get into anything else. Dogs must be house trained, leash trained, and always have a collar with their information on it. This alone, makes the experience more calm for owners and the sitter. My yard is fenced in and during the summer someone is almost always home. I do prefer clients home, just because I rent and when I initially started pet sitting it was for dogs who could not be boarded. I had a reactive dog and reactive owners know the work and stress that can come with that. I now have a senior dog who I could not want to board. In clients homes, I really just get the run down of their schedule and try to keep them on it to the best of my ability!

About: I've had pets my entire life. I'm retired now and travel extensively for part of the year, so I'm unable to have pets of my own and thought this would be a great way to keep busy while I am in town. I have a doggy door and a large, gated backyard for games of fetch or hide and seek. I will provide a safe, loving home while you are away or drop-in if you so choose. When I'm in NOLA, I often work part-time from home. I'm retired so you could call me a homebody, and I'm often found working in my garden. In the fourth quarter of the year, I do travel until thanksgiving but will keep my calendar here updated. I am relatively flexible with scheduling. My son recently moved and took his Boston Terrier with him, so there are no longer any pets in my home. I have a large, fenced yard perfect for games of hide-and-seek or fetch, and I'm often in the back as well working on my garden. I do not have any plants that would present a danger. I love to take long, daily walks on the levee, which is only two blocks away...and would love to bring your pet along! I often have family visit, who also love pets.

I live in a decent sized shop gun with a large fenced in back yard close to a levee and parks for walks I'm an independent esthetician who's studio is only 3 blocks away from home and I work for myself! The his makes accommodations for animals easy peasy! I also have A reliable car so popping in to feed cats/dogs and/or walking dogs multiple times a day is very fesiable I have a small fenced in back yard and live in a safe dog friendly neighborhood I have 2 cats, ones elderly and naps alot the other is young and curious but both tend to stay in their own space away from dogs when we board them! Jan was absolutely fantastic. I have a very unique pack of working and primitive breed dogs, and they definitely aren't the easiest group to care for. After just one meet-and-greet, Jan understood their personalities and made both me and my dogs feel completely at ease. What really impressed me was that he confidently took them on walks,...something that very few Rover sitters I've worked with have been comfortable doing. He handled each dog's quirks with patience, confidence, and a calm demeanor that my dogs responded to immediately. It's rare to find someone who truly understands working breeds and dogs with unique personalities, but Jan absolutely does. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him, especially if you have high-energy, independent, or quirky dogs that need someone experienced and confident. I'll definitely be booking with him again.

Gerome's natural ability to commune with animals was present during both drop off and pick up of my cat. I returned to find my selective/discerning sweet pea snuggled up with her pet sitter in a relaxed and trusting pose. She did not want to come back with me! As of September 2026, there are 1,199 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Gretna. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Gretna stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gretna. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
