Todd was excellent with our little one. He was prompt and courteous and loved spending time with “sharkey” baby teeth. He stayed at our condo the week we were gone. He played with him all the time, kept up with his current training and learning activities. They were best buds together. Bubby even cried out for him when he went to his car. Condo was left neat and straight and he even cleaned. Couldn’t ask for more gentle and positive sitter for our newbie (13week baby). It was a joy to find such a great sitter and will definitely use him in the future. He also has a medical background if needed.

Erica was wonderful to work with! Very responsive and gave us pet updates while we were away. When we got back our pets especially our dog looked like they were well taken care of and loved on by Erica. She took our dog on really long walks and I’m sure all the pets he could ask for. Will definitely book with Erica again :)

THIS IS BIG! ROCCO LOVES CAITLIN :D! We threw EVERY spoiled little bratdog curveball at Caitlin and she delivered excellent poochy care with each loving pet, hug and cookie! (Truly, Schnoz was likely a cat in a previous life and is disgusted by all humans' inadequacies.) Caitlin spent three (probably long days) in our home with our moody little knucklehead .. and with us popping in and out. We were all a handful! Caitlin was prompt, caring, detail-oriented and devoted to Rocco having a bestest time ever while Mom & Dad were gallivanting around Funk Fest without him. (He even got to stop at his beloved Golden Lantern where all of the bartenders have finally earned their keys to his heart.) Our happiest moment was when Caitlyn sent over a picture of Rocco ALLOWING her to snuggle him. NO SMALL FEAT! Caitlin, you're a GODDESS, and we're thrilled to have found you! (Rocco is, too, even though he'll never admit it.) See you soon! :D

About: I've loved dogs my entire life and have over 2 years of hands-on experience working at Camp Bow Wow, where I cared for dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments. My responsibilities included supervising playgroups, feeding, administering basic care, monitoring behavior, and ensuring every dog stayed safe and happy. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me with their pets for years, and I treat every dog like they're my own. Whether your pup needs a walk, playtime, overnight care, or just some extra attention while you're away, I'll provide dependable care and plenty of updates for your peace of mind. I work remotely from home, which gives me a flexible schedule for dog walks, drop-in visits, and pet care throughout the day. I'm available before work, during lunch breaks, after work, and often have flexibility for midday visits as well. Because I work from a laptop, I can provide consistent care and attention while helping your pets maintain their normal routine. Whether your dog needs a walk, potty break, feeding, playtime, or companionship while you're away, I'm happy to help. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. With over 2 years of professional experience caring for dogs at Camp Bow Wow, I'm comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, energy levels, and personalities. When caring for pets in your home, I follow all instructions closely, maintain your pet's normal routine, ensure doors, gates, and leashes are secure, and provide regular updates and photos so you know your pet is doing well. I believe in building trust through clear communication, reliability, and treating every pet like they're my own.

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve always been my favorite kind of company. I’m patient and keep things calm and low-key. I only watch one dog at a time, so you can rest assured that I will treat your dog as if they were my own. Since I work remotely, your dog won’t be left alone much and will get attention throughout the day. I make sure to follow whatever routine helps your dog feel most comfortable. Happy to send you photos and updates throughout the day as well. I’m flexible with pickup and drop off times. I will be with your pup all day, and they’ll get plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine. If they’re a high energy dog, they’ll get long walks. If they’re a senior or low energy, I’ll take them on shorter walks or just let them sniff in the yard.

Her extensive experience caring for animals at all life and health stages helped ease our worry and stress leaving our fur babies home for a long weekend. She took great care of our babies, and we came home to a clean house and happy fur babies. Couldn’t ask for better, thank you!!!

About: I've had pets my entire life. I'm retired now and travel extensively for part of the year, so I'm unable to have pets of my own and thought this would be a great way to keep busy while I am in town. I have a doggy door and a large, gated backyard for games of fetch or hide and seek. I will provide a safe, loving home while you are away or drop-in if you so choose. When I'm in NOLA, I often work part-time from home. I'm retired so you could call me a homebody, and I'm often found working in my garden. In the fourth quarter of the year, I do travel until thanksgiving but will keep my calendar here updated. I am relatively flexible with scheduling. My son recently moved and took his Boston Terrier with him, so there are no longer any pets in my home. I have a large, fenced yard perfect for games of hide-and-seek or fetch, and I'm often in the back as well working on my garden. I do not have any plants that would present a danger. I love to take long, daily walks on the levee, which is only two blocks away...and would love to bring your pet along! I often have family visit, who also love pets.

Grace was fantastic. Being away from our pup over the holidays is never easy, but she made it so much better by being friendly, reliable, and very communicative - especially when some unexpected things came up on our street. We were also blown away when we came home to find she had gone above and beyond cleaning (vacuuming, dishes, linens), which we never asked or expected of her, but deeply appreciated. Her dog was sweet and got along well with Watson as well. We’d happily have Grace back anytime and highly recommend her!

FAQs for House Sitting - Gretna

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Gretna on Rover is $29.97 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 767 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gretna. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gretna walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gretna maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gretna choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gretna. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
