“Danielle C was an outstanding pet and house sitter! I could not recommend her more. She communicated with me throughout her stay, sent amazing photos and clearly loved being with my dogs. I can’t wait to have her back :-)”

“Joel is the perfect dog sitter for our 13 year old Weimaraner. He does a great job caring for her and makes her very happy. We’re very lucky to be able to go out of town and not worry about our pet.”
About: I've never known life without animals! I've been responsible for pets from a very young age: from gerbils, to cats and dogs, to squirrels and goats, my circle of friends and family have always committed open homes and hearts to furry friends. Every stage of life, every shade of personality, I resolve to provide love, care and accountability. My personal dedication is boosted to professional assurance, as I am a long term caretaker at Mid City Animal House Daycare and Boarding. My part time work schedule is flexible, and I'm almost always in pet care mode since it's what I do! I am available for most services, from dog walking to house sitting, and if your pets would be good roomies with my pets, I am open to boarding on a case-by-case basis! I am comfortable caring for multiple animals at once, and following owners instructions with a keen eye. I am comfortable administering medications, special care instructions (i.e: elderly or special needs animals) and giving walks and baths. I am generally comfortable in unfamiliar places, maintaining a calm energy, respecting property and taking great care to give pets the attention they need in the absence of their owners. If you are interested in boarding with me: I currently provide a loving home to 2 cats and a dog. They are friendly, curious and well socialized with people and other animals. Dot, our boxer-collie, is especially good with dogs, cats and small children. For safety, we are able to easily separate pets either by partitioning/gating off rooms where they can maintain comfort, or utilizing the large dog crate in the front room where your pet will not be sequestered all by themselves, but still have a space they feel secure. I have no allergies, aversions, or phobias. I communicate well and will happily answer questions and provide references.
“Ian did an absolutely wonderful job looking after my dog and cat. He sent pics and updates everyday! It really put my mind at ease to have updates like that. I will definitely be rebooking him again!”

“Stacy has walked our two maltipoo dogs on several occasions now. Most recently, she house and dog sat for us, and she was great! She sent regular updates, and our dogs seemed to be in good spirits when we returned. She took great care of our home and our dogs, and we grateful to have found her! ”

“Chloe is the best. I had a change in plans and had to extend my trip and she agreed to stay longer with my babies. I never worried once about them. Amazing sitter!!”

“Our boys loved Elise and took great care of them! One of our pups is terrified of storms and she did a great job following our care instructions and keeping him safe & calm!”

About: My father raised and trained dogs so I have been caring for dogs since childhood. I have been personally caring for my own dogs as well as dogs of family and friends for the past seven years. I am medically trained for emergencies and can care for special needs and sick dogs. I will treat your pet with the love and kindness as I do my own. I can be available day and night, weekends and holidays even on short notice. I am hoping to make this a full-time position and will be available seven days a week 24 hours a day and can provide same-day service. I will follow all rules of the home in which I am sitting. I will never leave pets unattended. They will have my full attention and safety is my number one priority.
“Nikoleta was great. Our pup Lu took to her right away and we knew he’d be in good hands. She left the house spotless as well after staying the night.”

“Jared was such a perfect fit for what I needed. My dogs were carefully taken care of, and very well entertained by him. He kept me in the know of anything with the pups and was very attentive to one that needs a little extra for her anxiety. I would highly recommend Jared to anyone, I will for sure be a repeat!”

“Despite being extremely nervous and apprehensive and traveling without my pups, Cheryl took care of all three large breed senior dogs with no issues. Was kept updated regularly and sent photos daily. Very trustworthy and would definitely use again!”

“Ashley took amazing care of our two dogs. Provided us with so many photos and updates and just went above and beyond. She made us feel completely comfortable that our dogs were in great hands while we were out of town. Couldn’t recommend her enough!”

“Wow!! I couldn’t be happier with Rover.com and especially with Emily. She went above and beyond with my guys. She met with their doggie friends, made sure they got Plenty of exercise and made it so my fur babies felt at ease. Emily was the perfect dog sitter and I would not hesitate to recommend her to all of my pet parent friends and we look forward to hiring her again for any future travels!!”

“Hannah was great! My cats are a little rambunctious and like to spend the day outside and are sometimes a bit difficult to find when it comes time to come home. Hannah traversed blocks and bushes to track these little guys down to make sure they spent the night safe and sound at home! She sent lots of pictures and updates. I would definitely hire her again!”

“Karen went above and beyond while house sitting for our dog Bella. Bella was given loads of attention, the plants watered, house in order and great communication while we were away. Fantastic, I will definitely request Karen’s care again.❤️”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve always been my favorite kind of company. I’m patient and keep things calm and low-key. I only watch one dog at a time, so you can rest assured that I will treat your dog as if they were my own. Since I work remotely, your dog won’t be left alone much and will get attention throughout the day. I make sure to follow whatever routine helps your dog feel most comfortable. Happy to send you photos and updates throughout the day as well. I’m flexible with pickup and drop off times. I will be with your pup all day, and they’ll get plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine. If they’re a high energy dog, they’ll get long walks. If they’re a senior or low energy, I’ll take them on shorter walks or just let them sniff in the yard.
“Caitlin was fantastic! She was so kind and patient when she first stopped by to meet the critters. She was a fantastic communicator while I was out of town and took some great pictures and videos that clearly showed my dogs were thriving with all the attention she was giving them. It offered me so much peace of mind to know my pets were in such caring hands. Thank you, Caitlin!”
“I cannot say enough amazing things about Deana! She was so wonderful with our very, very quirky dachshund who was sick with pneumonia, and equally as wonderful with our very shy cat. She was also so incredibly responsive and reliable. She picked up meds at the vet, and made sure they both got everything they needed. She also had to deal with a water leak in our apartment and was on top of everything, and overall just very respectful of our space. She is the absolute best house sitter we have ever had, and she is truly amazing. Thank you Deana 🙏🙏🙏”

Melissa did an amazing job watching my dog and cat, she sent me lots of pictures and they were all of my pets comfortable and at ease with her. I found my home in better shape than I left it and my animals were obviously loved and well cared for. Will absolutely hire her again!

Mike has been a excellent communicator with me and my husband since day 1. They stayed with our 2 cats who are a little high maintenance while we were away and we came home the place looking great and 2 very happy cats :) highly recommend!! Thank you Mike! Will definitely be booking with them again.

Cole did a great job pet sitting for our two pups. One is very high energy, which was no trouble for Cole. The other is diabetic and needs insulin. Cole didn't have previous injection experience but was willing to learn and up to the task. We came home to two happy and healthy dogs and would definitely use Cole again.

Chloe was an excellent house sitter and took wonderful care of both our home and our dog while we were away. She was responsive, professional, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire stay. She sent daily photos and updates, which gave us great peace of mind knowing our pup was happy and well cared for. We returned to a clean home and a happy dog, and it was clear that Chloe treated both with care and respect. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy sitter.

Khalifa was absolutely amazing. She was very understanding and accommodating—she helped a ton when I made some scheduling and booking mistakes (don’t be like me). Most importantly, she made our pup feel at home at gave him lots of love. She’s an excellent caretaker. 100% recommend.

Daphne was wonderful with Estes. We are from out of town and she was super flexible so we could go and enjoy our time in NOLA! Daphne was prompt, communicative and did just as we asked. We are looking forward to our next trip back to the city. Knowing our dog was taken care of made our visit even more enjoyable when we are out and about. I’d recommend her to anybody!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in New Orleans on Rover is $48.15 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 774 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Orleans. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Orleans walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Orleans maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Orleans choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Orleans. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
