“John (Johnny) is a fantastic walker! He told me he’s new to the Rover platform but I can tell he’s very experienced and fantastic with dogs/animals. My dog Monty is not a huge walker and after about 10 minutes walking, Monty was dragging him back to my apartment and didn’t want to keep walking. Johnny called me to communicate that he is happy to do the full 30 minute walk, but that Monty wanted to come home and wouldn’t walk. He came back to my apartment and hung with Monty inside for the remaining 20 minutes. I recommend Johnny as a walker. He’s also so friendly and kind!”

About: As an agroecologist, caring for animals is a big part of both my personal and professional life. I’ve worked around livestock, barn cats, wildlife, and pets, which has made me attentive to animal behavior, body language, and individual personalities. I also have a senior cat of my own, so I understand the patience and gentleness older pets can require. I love dogs and am fascinated by their social intelligence, and I’m happy to adapt my care to each pet, whether they need energetic play, a long walk, quiet companionship, or a slower pace. My work schedule is fairly laissez-faire and flexible, which gives me plenty of time to dedicate to pet care throughout the week. I’m also on an active fitness and weight-loss journey, so I’m always looking for an excuse to get moving! Whether your pup needs a long walk, an energetic play session, or your cat needs some quality company and attention, I’m happy to work their routine into mine. I live in an apartment with my own beloved cat, who is fairly shy and prefers having his home to himself, so I do not offer boarding in my home. However, I’m very happy to provide house sitting and care for pets in the environment where they already feel safest and most comfortable. I’m respectful of each home and attentive to each pet’s established routines, boundaries, feeding schedules, and individual needs.

While I’m new to Rover, I’ve spent years walking dogs for friends, family, and neighbors and have always loved spending time with animals. I understand that every dog has their own personality and routine, and I’m happy to adapt to whatever makes them feel most comfortable. Whether it’s a long walk, playtime, or simply keeping them company, I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, love, and care while you’re away. I’m reliable, active, and will treat your dog like they’re my own. About: I’ve always had cats and dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up with two dogs and now have two cats in the city! Can’t wait to meet your pet! Currently a student so I have a flexible schedule, so weekday drop ins and walks should be easy to schedule! Mondays and Tuesdays are my busiest days. I have two friendly cats who have regularly interacted with other cats. I would love to take dogs for long walks to help tire them out and keep them entertained!

About: I am a graduate student in biology, and I really love animals! I grew up around animals and adopted my own little rescue six years ago. My dog is a tiny eight pounds. We love to spend time walking and at DC's great dog parks in addition to playing indoors and at home. In addition to my own dog, I love being around other people's animals, whether they are high energy, low energy, or somewhere in between. It would be a privilege to be entrusted to take care of your pet, whether it be through walking, boarding, or sitting. Rest assured that I will treat your pet as I do my own!! Pet care is a daily priority for me as someone with my own dog! On weekends, weather permitting, my dog and I try to get outdoors for a hike (or at least the dog park!). As someone who’s been on both sides of Rover, I understand the importance of trust when your pet is in the care of someone else! I live in a doorman apartment and have baby gates at home. When pet sitting at your home, I’m flexible to your and your pet’s needs.

About: I've grown up with animals my whole life — dogs, cats, and even horses — so caring for pets isn't new to me, it's second nature. I understand different temperaments, energy levels, and needs, from a high-energy pup who needs a good walk to a senior cat who just wants company. I currently dog sit and dog walk regularly, and I'm reliable, attentive, and genuinely happy spending my time with animals. Your pet will get consistent routines, plenty of attention, and someone who treats them like their own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I'm based in the [Washington, DC] area and typically have [mornings and evenings / flexible weekday] availability for walks and drop-ins, with more flexibility on weekends for boarding or longer sits. I build a consistent routine around each pet's normal schedule, feeding times, walk times, and downtime, so there's minimal disruption to what they're used to. Whether I'm in my own home or a client's home, safety and comfort come first. I keep a close eye on pets at all times, follow any feeding, medication, or routine instructions exactly as given, and make sure spaces are secure (leashed walks, safe yards, doors and gates checked). In my own home, pets have a calm, comfortable space to settle in, away from hazards, with fresh water always available. I communicate regularly with owners, photo updates and check-ins, so they always know their pet is safe and happy.
