“Rachael was fantastic walking our dog, and on relatively short notice too. Very communicative, good with updates and photos, and clearly has a natural way with animals - our pup warmed up to her immediately! Highly recommend.”

“Super great and attentive. Kashew is a high energy dog and a little reactive on walks but that was never a problem for Shahnaz. Great communication always provided a picture update. Would definitely book again!”

About: Hi there! My name is Khariss, and I’m a journalism major at Howard University. I have a passion for multimedia storytelling, but I also have a natural love for pet care. I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and unique health needs. Growing up, I was always the person every dog gravitated toward. Even the shy ones trusted me. My childhood dog, Elsie, an Olde English Bulldogge, was my shadow. As she got older, I took on the responsibility of giving her medication, cleaning her eyes, and making sure she stayed comfortable and well cared for. Leaving for college was tough because I knew how much attention she needed. My family did a great job, but I understood the level of care required to truly support a dog’s well-being. That experience shaped the way I approach every pet I look after. I treat them with the same patience, love, and attention I gave Elsie. As a caregiver, my goal is to meet each dog where they are. I pay close attention to their personality, needs, and energy level. My family recently adopted two Aussie Doodle puppies, so I am very familiar with high-energy dogs and can definitely keep up. I would love the chance to care for your fur baby and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. Pet care fits into my weekly routine because I keep dedicated time open for walks and drop ins. I’m available on Mondays after 1, Thursdays after 1, Wednesdays after 4:30, and all day Friday. I’m also very flexible on weekends and can adjust to what your dog needs. I provide walks and drop ins. I care for pets in home by giving fresh water, food when needed, playtime, and a solid walk. I also keep the routine consistent to what your baby is accustomed to, and make sure they each get focused attention and care.
About: I’ve had dogs my entire childhood. I absolutely love animals and the joy they bring to my life. I would love the opportunity to make your animals feel safe and comfortable as they have always done for me! I am currently unemployed but looking for a full-time job. In the meantime, I have a very open schedule for drop-ins, walks, and boarding. Any changes to my schedule will be communicated promptly! I have experience caring for animals at all stages. Puppies and kittens, crate training, and grown up animals. I feel very comfortable helping at all stages! My home is very secure and would be a great environment for animals. I live in a safe neighborhood that I am comfortable walking dogs in.
“Thank you for taking such good care of Elph and constantly checking in with me about any concerns you had. You are one of the best walkers she has had! Take care 😊”

“Yevgeniya was amazing with my dog. Gave me such peace of mind with her care, affection and attention to Bear. Was always prompt and gave solid updates. Thanks a bunch!”

She made our dog feel comfortable, was super communicative and sent lots of pictures, and put our minds at ease while we were on vacation during the colder days of the year. Will definitely book with Pauline again in the future - thank you!”

About: We’ve both had dogs in our family since we were young and we have our very own, paçoca! She’s a nova scotia duck toller. Her name means little peanut in portuguese and nothing describes her better than that. we love nothing more than to be around dogs. We would love to care for yours! We both work a hybrid schedule and at least one of us is always available to care for, play, and walk pets as many times as needed. We can provide your dog with the exercise they may need, whether it is a morning run, long walk in the afternoon, or dog park visit. We live in a pet-friendly two bedroom apartment with lots of light and space. Dogs we’ve cared for prior really enjoyed laying on the couch/their beds and getting some sun. We live very close to Logan Circle, which is a great, pleasant and green space in downtown DC for dogs to walk and play with other dogs. We love incorporating the pets’ routines into our own and can adapt as needed. Taking them on walks during the day is a great opportunity to take work breaks, get some fresh air, and enjoy the day. Our apartment is spacious and gets lots of sunlight, which the dogs love! It’s also close to lots of nice green areas such as Logan Circle or the S street dog park!
“If I could give Catherine 100 stars I would! She was so flexible and accommodating with a last minute emergency, and so sweet with my pup. Definitely going to be a repeat customer :)”

Columbia Heights dog parents share their Rover experiences
Hayoung was amazing with Bailey! She’s super sweet, communicative, and clearly a natural with dogs. I especially loved that she stood up to a rude lady making comments about him—she really went above and beyond to make sure he felt safe and loved. We’ll definitely be booking her again soon! 💗🐶🐾

Claire is an amazing walker and we are very happy with our experience with her. Our senior dog has some health issues and she was attentive and professional regarding his care. Claire was communicative, respectful and considerate and we would love to request her services every chance we get.

Nicky is great! She is so good with Lila. In all my years of using Rover, I find that a lot of the providers treat these bookings as purely transactional. They do their job and that's it. No warmth, no sincerity. You can tell that she really loves animals. She has been very attentive to Lila's needs and is very communicative (with us AND Lila), asking questions, expressing concerns, and just giving general updates! We hope that Nicky will be able to continue caring for Lila. Definitely a diamond in the rough!
