“First walk with our boy Ziggy and she was great. On time, took him out to the dog park, he came back tired. All you can ask for! Super nice and asked all the right questions. We felt very comfortable with her.”

“Sarah came by on short notice and was great with Benji, taking lots of pictures and giving him a longer walk than I probably would have. Huge help while we're adjusting to the new city.”

“Camden is reliable and really took care of my boy, benny. They had a nice walk around the neighborhood, even though outside was pretty hot, they enjoyed their time together, I will book him again!”

About: I'm not just another dog walker or pet sitter — I'm your reliable neighborhood neighbor who’s already the go-to person in my 10-story NW DC apartment building for everything from quick walks to overnight stays (and yes, I handle both dogs and cats with ease!). What really makes me different is my background as a recently retired Special Education teacher. That means I bring serious patience, structure, and a knack for reading behavior to every pet I care for. Whether it’s helping a energetic young pup learn polite leash manners, crate training basics, or simple commands during our walks and playtime — or giving gentle, attentive care to senior dogs and cats who need slower paces, extra cuddles, or help with mobility and medication — I’m genuinely good at meeting each pet exactly where they are. I grew up with dogs and cats, so I’m comfortable with all personalities and ages. I focus on making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and happy while you’re away — with consistent routines, plenty of affection, and that extra layer of responsibility that comes from years of working with kids who needed thoughtful, individualized support. In short: You get a sitter who’s dependable, experienced with all life stages of pets, and truly enjoys the work. Your furry (or not-so-furry) family member will get the kind of calm, attentive care that makes coming home even sweeter. Pet care fits perfectly into my daily and weekly routine! Since I’m recently retired, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pets the attention they deserve. I live right in a 10-story apartment building in NW DC, so I’m already here and can easily pop down for midday walks, quick drop-ins, or overnight stays without any commute hassle. A typical week for me includes several regular dog walks and cat visits for neighbors in the building. I genuinely enjoy starting my day with a good walk or ending it with some playtime and cuddles. It keeps me active, social, and smiling — plus it gives me that wonderful sense of responsibility I loved from my teaching days. Whether it’s a quick 30-minute walk around the neighborhood, a full night of house sitting, or daily check-ins while you’re traveling, fitting pet care into my schedule is easy and something I truly look forward to. I’m available most days and evenings, and I’m happy to work around your needs! I provide all pet care in your home only, so your pets stay in their familiar environment where they feel safest and most comfortable. For dogs, I will only consider bringing them to my house on very rare occasions — and only after I’ve gotten to know the dog well and we both agree it’s the right fit. All cat care happens exclusively in your home. In your home, I follow your exact routines for feeding, walks (for dogs), playtime, litter box care, medications, and more. I’m very mindful about safety: keeping doors and windows locked, using secure leashes when needed, and treating your space with complete respect. As a retired Special Education teacher, I’m patient, observant, and highly responsible. I treat every pet and every home with the care they deserve. You can trust that your furry family member will be in safe, loving hands.
“Emma was great and super patient with our pup who was having a bit of anxiety and anxiousness. She regularly walks our pup and we'll keep having her walk our him in the future.”

“Rubens has walked my dogs dozens and dozens of times now. Rubens is such a thoughtful and caring individual to my dogs whenever he walks them. They love getting the individualized attention from him and he takes some awesome photos of them!”

“Salma responded to my short-notice request quickly, which I greatly appreciated as it was for only a few days of dog-walking. I'd had some surgery on my leg and it was difficult to walk for the first few days. Salma came three times daily and was very kind and patient with my elderly dog. I would not hesitate to hire her again.”

About: Instead of going to sports practice, I would go to dog training! We had just gotten our new puppy Olive, and my mom thought it would be fun for me to train her. Many of my best memories with Olive are going to the Arby's drive through and then to PetSmart training. I have always loved dogs and having this time with Olive was so special to me. I adore all types of pets whether they are energetic or slightly lazy. I know that it can be difficult for pet parents to kennel their pets or leave them at home during your 9-5. My hope is to help you relax knowing that you have a responsible and loving person hanging out with your pets! I am a graduate student so my days are flexible! Classes are held in the evenings, otherwise I would love to find some time in my schedule for a furry friend! My sweet Olive passed away in August. When my family and I remember her we talk about playing hide and go seek and snuggling with her when she was older. I love being active and going for runs, but I also enjoy some quiet reading time on the couch.

“Katy was able to wrangle Sable’s puppy energy into a great walk. Sable and her sister Cinder immediately felt comfortable around her, and Sable came back ready for a nap. Thanks, Katy! We will see you again.”

About: I've taken care of animals my whole life and, more recently, I was a dog sitter for a very rambunctious puppy for several months. I also cared for my late dog well into her teens, so I am very comfortable looking after elderly animals. Oh, and I'm not just a dog person! I routinely look after my sister's cat. I work part-time, often during odd hours in the evenings, so I have plenty of availability during regular 9-to-5 hours! I also have a very flexible schedule and can usually work something out. Every animal is different! Providing care to an animal will look very different depending on the animal's age, health, or personality/temperament. I'm always happy to accomdate!
About: I love dogs and cats, and miss my own pets as I’m away from home. So I would love to help take care of your pets when you need an extra hand! My availability is during weekends for drop-ins/walks, but can be flexible for days. I can’t wait to hear more about your pet, just reach out! I work full-time, so I am mostly free on weekends. That can be any time on the weekend, and if needed, can try for weekdays after work. For drop-ins, I will play with your pets and brush them if they enjoy that! And for dogs, would love them to take them for a stroll so we can both get our steps in!
“Amanda is incredibly responsible, thoughtful, and such a dog person. Rosie was in love with her at first sight. Lucky to have her as part of my "dog team."”

About: I have two dogs of my own at home where I am originally from. I have helped raise them from puppies to adults. I know first hand how important a dog is to their owner. I will make sure I entertain your dog as well and keep them safe and happy! I currently am a full time student and have a part time job. The weekend work the best for me but I can also do evenings and Tuesday and Thursdays after three. When I am at home with my dogs, I keep them entertained as much as possible. I love taking them on walks and throwing the ball for them.
About: I have a pet Russian tortoise who requires special care and delicate handling that's more involved than, say, walking and feeding a dog or taking care of a cat. I have a pretty flexible schedule both this summer and into the fall. Pet care can easily be scheduled around my summer job and college classes. I make sure pets, my own and others that I've been responsible for, get plenty of attention. I don't leave them until all their needs have been met
“Diana is so great! She's very friendly and you can tell how much she loves dogs. Diana is a great communicator and sends fun pics and videos of her walks with my pup! I would highly recommend!!”

“Anna is an incredible communicator. My pup and I are so lucky that we have found such a wonderful walk companion for her. She is a fun loving creature who needed someone with an understanding of her excitement on encountering other dogs as well as ensuring she has plenty of play.”

Julia is amazing! She walked my one-year-old miniature Dachshund, Jub Jub, for four consecutive days this past week, and I couldn't have been happier with the care she provided. She took him on long, enjoyable walks through our neighborhood and the nearby park, and she kept me updated throughout each visit with detailed notes and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. Beyond the walks, Julia took the time to check on him when she arrived, making sure he was comfortable and that everything in the house was clean and in order. We also have two other dogs at home, and even though they weren't part of the booking, Julia was incredibly kind and spent time playing with and giving them attention as well. That extra level of care really meant a lot. Julia was professional, punctual, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I would absolutely hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog walker. Thank you so much, Julia!

Kelly is a great walker and companion to our dog Ducky! We had originally hired Kelly for 3 days a week - Ducky gets so excited when Kelly arrives, and he comes home happy and tired (in a good way) after each walk! Kelly is also very informative, adding details on each walk and letting us know of anything else after returning

Kayla has been incredible at taking care of my dog Beamer! She is very thoughtful with his care. She’s let me know if there’s any issues on his walk and is helping me keep an eye on a hot spot on his tail he’s been irritating. Really appreciate Kayla going above and beyond taking care of Beamer, whether walking him or boarding him, she takes care of him as if he’s her own pet. Big thank you, will definitely be re-booking Kayla!

Selina is absolutely amazing with my dog! She is incredibly talented, patient, and skilled, and it’s obvious that she genuinely cares about the dogs in her care. She is very professional, communicative, and dependable. My dog loves spending time with her, and I always feel completely comfortable knowing he is in such good hands. I highly recommend Selina to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and exceptional to care for their dog!
