About: I'm not just another dog walker or pet sitter — I'm your reliable neighborhood neighbor who’s already the go-to person in my 10-story NW DC apartment building for everything from quick walks to overnight stays (and yes, I handle both dogs and cats with ease!). What really makes me different is my background as a recently retired Special Education teacher. That means I bring serious patience, structure, and a knack for reading behavior to every pet I care for. Whether it’s helping a energetic young pup learn polite leash manners, crate training basics, or simple commands during our walks and playtime — or giving gentle, attentive care to senior dogs and cats who need slower paces, extra cuddles, or help with mobility and medication — I’m genuinely good at meeting each pet exactly where they are. I grew up with dogs and cats, so I’m comfortable with all personalities and ages. I focus on making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and happy while you’re away — with consistent routines, plenty of affection, and that extra layer of responsibility that comes from years of working with kids who needed thoughtful, individualized support. In short: You get a sitter who’s dependable, experienced with all life stages of pets, and truly enjoys the work. Your furry (or not-so-furry) family member will get the kind of calm, attentive care that makes coming home even sweeter. Pet care fits perfectly into my daily and weekly routine! Since I’m recently retired, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pets the attention they deserve. I live right in a 10-story apartment building in NW DC, so I’m already here and can easily pop down for midday walks, quick drop-ins, or overnight stays without any commute hassle. A typical week for me includes several regular dog walks and cat visits for neighbors in the building. I genuinely enjoy starting my day with a good walk or ending it with some playtime and cuddles. It keeps me active, social, and smiling — plus it gives me that wonderful sense of responsibility I loved from my teaching days. Whether it’s a quick 30-minute walk around the neighborhood, a full night of house sitting, or daily check-ins while you’re traveling, fitting pet care into my schedule is easy and something I truly look forward to. I’m available most days and evenings, and I’m happy to work around your needs! I provide all pet care in your home only, so your pets stay in their familiar environment where they feel safest and most comfortable. For dogs, I will only consider bringing them to my house on very rare occasions — and only after I’ve gotten to know the dog well and we both agree it’s the right fit. All cat care happens exclusively in your home. In your home, I follow your exact routines for feeding, walks (for dogs), playtime, litter box care, medications, and more. I’m very mindful about safety: keeping doors and windows locked, using secure leashes when needed, and treating your space with complete respect. As a retired Special Education teacher, I’m patient, observant, and highly responsible. I treat every pet and every home with the care they deserve. You can trust that your furry family member will be in safe, loving hands.
“Sarah was great with my senior pup and her love for animals is clear. I appreciated that she was available for a meet and greet and booking on short notice. Would gladly have her care for Finn again!”

About: I have a pet Russian tortoise who requires special care and delicate handling that's more involved than, say, walking and feeding a dog or taking care of a cat. I have a pretty flexible schedule both this summer and into the fall. Pet care can easily be scheduled around my summer job and college classes. I make sure pets, my own and others that I've been responsible for, get plenty of attention. I don't leave them until all their needs have been met

“Katy was able to wrangle Sable’s puppy energy into a great walk. Sable and her sister Cinder immediately felt comfortable around her, and Sable came back ready for a nap. Thanks, Katy! We will see you again.”

“Ashton was incredible with our senior dog! Ashton was kind and gentle with her, ensuring she got good exercise even when she was a bit stubborn. Ashton even went above and beyond, coming to our house to help even after a big snowstorm. We’ll definitely have her help out again!”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of different ages, from energetic younger dogs to elderly dogs who need extra patience and attention. I have cared for my own dog, which has taught me how important it is to be responsible, gentle, and attentive to each pet’s needs. I have also helped care for my neighbors’ dogs, including both senior dogs and younger dogs, by making sure they are fed, walked, comfortable, and given plenty of love and attention. I understand that every dog has its own personality and routine, and I always do my best to make pets feel safe, happy, and cared for while their owners are away. I currently work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the rest of the week I am usually at home working or studying remotely. This gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to provide pets with plenty of attention, walks, playtime, and care throughout the day. I am also especially available on weekends, which is a great option for pet parents who need to board their dog at my apartment. I live in a pet-friendly one-bedroom apartment where pets can feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I make sure to follow each pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions from their owner. I also give pets plenty of attention, love, and a calm environment so they feel at home. My apartment is in a great area with plenty of parks and trails nearby, making it easy to take dogs on walks, get fresh air, and enjoy outdoor time. I always prioritize each pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness while they are staying with me.
“The best! So helpful and lovely. They made sure to accommodate all of the special requests and left a note to me about how my dog did! Can’t recommend enough.”

“Faustine was quick to respond with our last minute walk request and was easy to communicate with! She clearly has great experience with dogs and it looked like our lil guy had a great time on his walk. Would highly recommend.”

About: Hi, my name is Mila! My whole life I’ve been surrounded by animals, and I truly love them. I’m a cat mom myself so I will take care of your fluffy kid like my own! I LOOOVE taking pics of animals, so you’ll be sure to get a portrait of your baby. Check out my photo gallery! I'm currently working from Monday to Friday until 3 pm. Because of that, I do drop-ins after 3:30 pm on workdays and house sitting during weekends. I’m a person who enjoys spending as much time with animals as I can. I know that animals are missing their parents when they are at home alone, and I believe pet sitting is so much more than just feeding and cleaning a litter box or walking a dog. Unfortunately I won’t be able to bring your pet to my own place because of my two cats. They are love bugs with me but not too social or keen on befriending other animals.
About: I've had a dog my whole life and love taking care of pets. I've been known to walk my neighbors dogs and water their plants when they need the help. I recently ran a half marathon so I would happily take your pet for long walks and even a run. I'm very responsible and nurturing, so I would love to channel that energy into your pet instead of my roommates for a bit. Let me help you give your pet the exciting life they deserve. I'm a full time college student, with a good amount of free time during the summer time, so I would be able to care for your pet whenever it's needed. I plan on taking pets out in the cooler parts of the day, and if the weather is too hot, I feel comfortable entertaining a pet inside, so they can get some of their wiggles out. I have administered medication to dogs several times and feel very comfortable taking care of dogs of all ages.
“Hannah was great getting Logan moving in the middle of the day while I was at work. She's super responsive and was a huge help to me in my first week back in the office.”

About: Hi! My name is Christopher, and I've been caring for animals for most of my life. I grew up with my family's Chihuahua and have been pet sitting and dog walking for family and friends since I was 15 years old. I completed a Veterinary Assistant course at a nearby college and am trained in both dog and cat CPR and first aid. I have experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including large dogs, high energy dogs, and senior cats and dogs that need a little extra patience and attention. I'm passionate about providing more than just the basics of pet care. I believe pets thrive when they receive plenty of exercise, playtime, enrichment, and individualized attention. I also place a strong emphasis on reading and respecting each animal's body language so that they feel safe, comfortable, and understood. Whether your pet needs an energetic walking partner, a dependable sitter, or someone to provide attentive care while you're away, I'll treat them like they're part of my own family. My goal is to give you peace of mind and ensure your pet is happy, healthy, and well cared for! I have full availability until June 27th. Until then, I am always more than willing to be flexible and work with you to create a plan and schedule that best fits your animal's needs and routines. Being the owner of a feisty chihuahua and having cared for larger but equally rambunctious dogs, I can work well under pressure to keep a watchful eye on any and all pets in the home as well as maintain an awareness of open windows/doors and other security concerns. I know how to maintain a healthy balance between play and gentle guidance - especially when outdoors or in the vicinity of other animals.
“Our whole family loves Amanda. From the first day she came to meet our 2 pups, they immediately took to her. She’s incredibly warm and knowledgeable about taking care of dogs with different needs, as well as reliable and great with communicating. We’re very, very lucky to have her taking care of our fur babies”

The median cost per walk for dog walking in Berkley is $20
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Berkley
Meg is the best dog walker I’ve ever had. She provides excellent care, truly loves animals, is very professional, and writes very detailed notes. She anticipates my dogs needs and is always prepared to go above and beyond- like putting her cooling vest on, bringing her water bottle, and rewarding good behavior on walks. I am so sad to no longer have Meg as a walker as I am moving, she will be missed!!!
