“Renee has been amazing! My shitzhu isn’t used to being left alone during the day as I used to work from home. Renee comes over and takes him for a walk and plays with him and gives him lots of love. I would recommend her highly.”

“Heather was wonderful taking care of our two dogs. She kept us updated throughout our trip and we felt confident the dogs were in good hands. We will definitely hire her again.”

“Brianna was super friendly and actually seemed to be happy to look after my cat. She did a great job making him happy and cleaning up after him. Thoroughly recommend.”

“Rachel was excellent. She did exactly what we needed & took great care of Mya, who’s a 15 year old black lab. Would definitely recommend her & will be using her again in the future!”
“Stephanie took the best care of my cat while I was away for a week. He liked her so much that he cuddled with her, which he had never done before with anyone else. She sent regular updates and I knew my cat was in wonderful hands. Now I will no longer be anxious about leaving him as long as I know she can visit him.”

“Julia has taken exceptional care of my very high anxiety Doberman! She has gone above and beyond to make sure he’s comfortable and has a good walk or time with her. Her prices are very reasonable and I cannot recommend her enough to watch or walk your pup!”

“Rebecca has been great with Jasper! He obviously likes her and enjoys her company, and she is completely reliable and kind to him. I’m happy we connected with her!”

“Stephanie takes such great care of our cats while we are away! She is so warm and thorough with her care of our cats and her comminication with us. We would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone!”

About: I grew up with a dog until I went to college. In medical school and surgical residency I have been the go to person for pet sitting. While my schedule is too crazy for my own fur baby, dog sitting fills that void! As a surgical resident living in Royal Oak and working in Madison Heights/Warren. My schedule is sometimes flexible and sometimes I am stuck at the hospital more than not. For this reason I don’t have my own dog, but I have the time for sitting! I defer to the owner regarding crate use and furniture rules. I’m a big pet snuggler but want to ensure consistency in training and behavioral expectations.
“Staci was amazing with my little puppy! She was incredibly attentive and made sure my puppy received excellent care during her visits. It was clear she genuinely cared and went above and beyond to make my puppy feel comfortable and loved. I felt completely at ease knowing my puppy was in such good hands. Highly recommend her services!”

“Ashley offered to meet our pup ahead of time which was very appreciated. She was super at handling a nervous dog and was quick to update us during her visit. Couldn’t be more appreciative of her help and experience with pets!”

About: I am the biggest dog lover you’ll ever meet! I always seem to be the go-to-person when it comes to watching dogs of my friends and family! I love walks, and even running! I am also a big cuddler and belly scratcher! I am always down to play! Yet, I am not an enabler, so don’t worry, I won’t let your dog do whatever he/she wants. I will be sure to keep your dog out of trouble. Your dog will seriously look at me as their best friend. I am available almost every day during the summer, except when I am on vacation with my family, or Mondays when I am watching my nephew. We currently have two golden retrievers, Sully (7) and Leia (6), and a cavalier King Charles spaniel named Phoebe (2.5). We take all of them to dog parks, pools and lakes to be around other dogs so they have been socialized and are very friendly. Our golden boy is just very vocal when he first sees your dog and you, because he is excited! We will, of course, need to do a meet and greet first to make sure our dogs get along! Sully, Leia, Phoebe and I can’t wait to meet you and your dog!!! I have summers off so I am pretty open for the most part unless I am on vacation with my family, or Mondays when I am watching my nephew. I have a fenced in yard that our dogs can run around and play in. We are pretty open about where dogs can sleep. Our dogs will lay on the couch, our bed, the hard wood floor or their own bed. Your pup can too!
About: I have 2 dogs of my own! We also foster dogs and help them find their furever home. We love going for walks and to the park at the end of my street! My name is Melissa- I cannot get this app to put my first name first! 🤦🏼♀️ Currently- in the summer, I have full time availability. During the school year, it will be more restricted as I will be back to teaching! I have a fenced in yard! Two dogs of my own and two kids to help with cuddles and love! My whole family is a dog loving family!
“Wonderful first experience with Abbey! Great communication and my little Stella is usually so shy and barky to new people, but she warmed up instantly to Abbey on our initial meet and greet. I will definitely be booking again, thank you :)”

“April was able to do a last minute later evening visit for my dog , which was fantastic! I didn't have to rush home early in the morning. She's very professional and understands dogs well!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clawson
Rebecca took care of our 2 cats during a quick weekend trip and was so nice to accommodate us on short notice. The cats were very happy to see her and get their wet food and play time! We already booked Rebecca for a longer trip and know the cats will be treated well!

Katie was amazing with my pup! She came over to meet her before and made sure she was comfortable/set up for the best situation. She was so sweet and kind and was very flexible when I had to add an additional time for check-in. I will definitely be using her again and really appreciated how she was available last minute. Highly recommend for others!
Heather was super responsive and set me at ease with my first time utilizing Rover. She was very accommodating and I will absolutely utilize her again for drop ins when I am away in the future. Thank you again Heather. You were the highlight of Fig’s weekend as well!

Stephanie came to the rescue as a cat sitter for my sweet kitty (who we had never been away from) during a very stressful time in our lives. She was extremely kind, communicative, and helpful, and flexible with our rapidly changing schedule. Our kitty took to her immediately, which was amazing because he is usually likes to observe for awhile before deciding about people! She has a calm energy about her that he really responded to, and they were quick friends! Stephanie followed my rather comprehensive care instructions perfectly, and it was obvious how well cared for he was while we were away. It was so reassuring to know that things at home were well under control, and that our kitty now has a friend we can call next time we are away!
Kat is absolutely the best!! She is really knowledgeable in animal care, especially with senior dogs like ours. My dogs immediately loved her, and she was giving them a lot of love. My partner and I work long hours and we feel so much better knowing that Kat is there to visit our dogs during the day. We will definitely book her again!!

Callie was once again amazing as a sitter for my two cats. She shows them both so much love and sends such detailed notes. I receive not only photos but also videos, which I love. Callie was also nice enough to bring in some packages delivered to my house. I would always use Callie when in need of a sitter!

This experience was absolutely the best! I received tons of photos and videos, and I felt very secure about Kona’s walk. She even went above and beyond by bringing extra water and helping him through an upset tummy. I couldn’t have been more excited for this visit, and I will definitely be rebooking in the future.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
